hi
My choices were
Genevieve
Martha
Seraphine
Dixie
and many more we settled for Claudia Violet
dh couldnt get his head round the others thought dixie sounded to much like a porn star or something and just wouldnt entertain Genevieve ,but i gonna push for it next time

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/07/2007 23:15

By the way i am new here just though id put my 4peneth in

LoveAngel · 10/07/2007 07:40

Mabel is hiedous! Matilda is cute but getting quite common (that may not bother you? I don't know...). I like Martha and Nell. Please no to Cressida!

claraq · 10/07/2007 09:19

Fees - your dh sounds like mine. His top choice for a name at the moment is bloodclot pusshole. Hmmmm.

We're struggling with girls names too.

Don't do Mabel, it's so old. I can just hear some old lady screeching it down the road to her friend....

Safia and Ella are really nice.

fees · 10/07/2007 11:48

LOL thanks claraq!glad to see i am not the only one with naughty dh- quite like dixie my dh also thinks it is a porn star name but then he thinks the same about daisy!! I like geneveive ( not sure if i would be able to spell it though)- really apreciating all your help thanks everyone - please keep them coming!!! Might not get chance to get back to talk tonight - PTA chasing me for minutes, dh complaining house is a pig sty,(desperately trying to get house on the market before school Hols so pots of paint everywhere) and to top it all today my ds2 has just informed me this second that the dogs just vomed all over the kitchen floor- c u all later!!!!

I like Alice - great taste (OK its my name and I never got lice!).

Ella was top of our list but there are hundreds now so if you want something unusal don't pick that.

I love Polly, Phoebe, Amy, Maya, Chloe and Daisy..... But we are having a boy and can't agree!

fees · 10/07/2007 13:56

Blimey I just can't help myself thanks Alice i do like yr name and it was my mothers grannys name good luck with the boys name - I wanted Roux for a boy as Im so in love with Johnny Depps sexy gypsy character from Chocolat!! Also Im a red head well strawberryy blonde now im getting on a bit and messed around with highlights and chances of having my own little fire starter are quite high!! I love babies with red hair to me they are quite special!!! All the bestX

hi

We had trouble looking for a girl's name second time around, but in the end we had a boy! However, some names that we ran through included: Stephanie, Annie, Eve (Evie) and Tess (Tessa). I noticed a comment about ageing with names, and that is something we also considered. Our 7 yr old DD has a given name and a shortened name, so at school she is the shortened name, and when she is an elegant, grown up lady, she can use the full, given name.
Good Luck!

StrangelyBzar · 10/07/2007 14:30

Oh, yes, we also looked through naming books and websites and settled on names where we thought the meaning was appropriate. We also examined all the initials to make sure they didn't spell something ridiculous!
ttfn.

StrangelyBzar · 10/07/2007 14:32

Angharad (Welsh). Not sure of correct spelling. Sorry. Right off to do the dishes and sort out the washing.

skidoodle · 10/07/2007 21:33

anouk is lovely.

I used to know a blonde blue-eyed anouk, so I don't associate it with dark hair and eyes at all hatrickjacqueline. funny how one person can really determine how you see a name.

I like esme too. I'm wondering if it's one of those about to burst into popularity one of these days
