Brown discharge - should I worry

Hi girls I've had a small 10p size brown spot in my knickers, then when going to the loo and wiping (sorry too much info) I have brown discharge.... almost like the end of my period andnit goes brown.

Then a second time it was more pink / red - again just from wiping.

No cramps

8 weeks and 2 days

Waiting for an out of hours doctor to call me been waiting over 2 hours for a call and now I'm tempted to get an early scan privately.

My 12 week scan is 5th November and haven't had any medical advise since finding out and wondered if there is anything for me to worry about in terms of my discharge?

How do I know I am suffering a miscarried ?

I hope everything is okay for you. I had brown discharge in week 6 and then week 8-10 and the doctor prescribed progesterone. The discharged has stopped now. If its brown and not bright red there is still a good chance that everything is okay. I'm sorry this is happening as I know how stressful it is.

sarahdeebur · 06/10/2018 00:11

Thank you, I guess the good sign is that I have no pain? I've read so many things online which I do t know is helping or not.

Is all ok with you now?

You won't know if you've had a missed miscarriage until the scan. But a full on miscarriage you would know about as you can expect to get heavy bleeding heavier than a period.
See if it persists. Any bleeding red or brown shouldn't be ignored. So you're doing the right thing by seeking medical advice.

sarahdeebur · 06/10/2018 00:16

Thank you,
I pretty sure nothing is wrong it's just playing in my mind Confused

💐for the worry. I had some brown discharge early in with both my first two. With my third I had a full red bleed and it still turned out ok so don’t panic unduly. There are quite a few hospitals which provide an early pregnancy unit where you can turn up for a scan between certain hours - could you search for one near you?

RedWineAllMine · 06/10/2018 00:25

I hate these early stages of pregnancy. Horrible isn't it the not knowing? And the worry that comes with it all.
Try not to worry unless symptoms persist or gets worse. You do need to know what's going on tho, can you not book in at EPU and see the nurses there? They will be able to do a early scan and blood tests if needs be. Hope everything will be ok.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 06/10/2018 00:27

I know everyone is different but I had brown spotting from about week 4 til around week 12 in both my pregnancies, and have two happy healthy kids aged 5 and 2 with no issues at birth c

KittyMcTitty · 06/10/2018 08:35

The best thing is a scan - obsessively googling you can find any answer you want which isn’t always helpful.
I had brown discharge only on wiping no pain and had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks.
I had a small amount the next pregnancy so expected the same but all was fine.
Sending you positive vibes xxx

Merrydoula · 06/10/2018 09:19

I had brown spotting all the way from 6-12 weeks, it was fine, it's usually bright red blood and a lot of it that indicates something more serious

RedWineAllMine · 06/10/2018 11:22

I had brown for one day and for me it was a missed miscarriage. However everyone is different and for each person it can mean a different thing.

flumpybear · 06/10/2018 11:29

The tww is what seems to be everyones nightmare when ttc .... um afraid it gets worse when pregnant as more waiting for longer periods

I had brown, black and red/pink blood both with live foetuses and miscarriages so you can't tell. If you no longer feel pregnant that's not a great sign, but then sometimes you feel terrible like pregnant people do and it's a mmc

Hopefully your GP will refer you to early pregnancy for an early scan - good luck and stay positive it's probably fine

TheKnackeredChef · 06/10/2018 11:30

I had this at around 7 weeks. Went to the EPAU for a scan. The lady doing it took ages. Kept going out of the room and coming back in again. By the time she'd brought in a senior member of staff to have a look, i was convinced they were going to tell me the worst news.

After what felt like an eternity, she turned to me and said, "Sorry it's taken so long, but I had to be sure. It's twins." So in the space of 24 hours, I went from thinking I was having one baby, to no baby at all and then eventually two! That was quite a day, I can tell you.

RedWineAllMine · 06/10/2018 11:52

Chef how lovely!

BifsWif · 06/10/2018 11:55

I had brown discharge that eventually turned red and miscarried, my friend bled heavily throughout and had a healthy baby.

There really is no way of knowing, try and rest and stay away from google. Keeping everything crossed for you Flowers

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 06/10/2018 11:56

I've had this 3 times, 2 were missed miscarriages and 1 was ok. I would advise to try and stay neutral until you have a scan , arrange one asap so you know sooner rather than later.

sarahdeebur · 07/10/2018 09:18

Thanks all!

Went for an early scan and they couldn't find a baby or yolk and told me to go back In 10 days for another scan.
According to my dates I should be 8 days 4 days but on the report it say 5-6 weeks, I've read some stories online about how some actually got dates wrong and won't back for another scan and saw a heartbeat and that the dates were off by 2 weeks.

Apart from feeling tired, and cramping and a little achy my bump has gone down now and wondering - could I of mid carried now as I haves dark blood when wiping and bits of dark black/red blobs which lasted only a day and now I haven't got any bleeding.

I'm so confused.

OP posts:
RedWineAllMine · 07/10/2018 11:45

Hmmm. If they are going by their dates then it could be a chemical pregnancy I suspect, where you was pregnant but the pregnancy failed at a very early stage and a period like bleed will follow. I only say this because I naturally miscarried at 8+3 and the pain was horrific aswell as the bleeding. I had to wear special nappy pants from EPU to soak up the blood. So if it was a MC at your dates you would be in much more pain.
But I had brown with a Missed miscarriage so it could be MMC where a loss will follow.
They have told you to go back in 10 days so wait n see what that scan comes up as, as it could be too early to see anything if you are 5 weeks.
You must be so confused, but another scan will seal it for you.
Did they not take your blood to check HGC levels? Because if that decreases every day then you know it's defiantly a loss.

sarahdeebur · 07/10/2018 12:09

No blood tests are taken till the 16th October, I woke up with no blood and I'm in the car and felt a blob come out, checked it and it's blood.
I just don't know what to think anymore - no cramps though and it's the first bit of blood today which is 12pm right now and just felt it.

I'm so worried and it may be a case just to prepare for the worse now

OP posts:
RedWineAllMine · 07/10/2018 12:20

I know the feeling too well and know what you are going through. Is this the first time it's happened to you? Have you taken a pregnancy test? If you take one today and it comes up as negative then at least you get your answer. I've had 4 chemicals & 1MMC, currently successfully pregnant with my 6th pregnancy at 27 weeks. So you will get your successful one. Pregnancy is such a scary thing isn't it when stuff like this happens

CobaltRose96 · 07/10/2018 12:24

I had this with both of my pregnancies. In the first case I unfortunately had a missed miscarriage, but in the second all was fine and I'm now 18 weeks pregnant. These early days are so hard, I'm hoping it's good news for you!

sarahdeebur · 07/10/2018 12:34

Thank you all so much,
My husband is driving me to A&E now.
Took a test this morning and still shows I am pregnant but that could still be picking up the hormones of it so not sure I should be feeling positive about it?
I'm not in pain only yesterday I felt uncomfortable but that's all gone now.

Started off brown to light pink and now bright red slime I think I should just accept I'm having a MC.

Trying to keep it together

Spooples · 07/10/2018 13:00

Oh honey :( I really feel for you. This sounds exactly like my miscarriage in June. I really hope you have a better outcome though. If it does turn out to be a miscarriage, please try to stay strong - it doesn't mean it'll happen again next time xx

RedWineAllMine · 07/10/2018 13:16

Now it's bright red, yes I would prepare for the worse unfortunately. And you're right the test is probably picking up on the traces of hormone that's left, as it takes a while to completely leave the body. My hormone was gone completely 5 days after a positive test, but I suppose it will depend on how far hon enough was as I was like 4 weeks or something.
Be sure to update us either way. Early pregnancy sure is the worst.

RedWineAllMine · 07/10/2018 13:19

Typo sorry. My hormone was completely gone 5 days after a positive test with my chemicals, but I was really early on with those, like still in the 4 -5 weeks. ** typing gobbledygook!

sarahdeebur · 07/10/2018 13:25

Thank you ladies,

I'm currently sitting at A&E , blood pressure taken and next blood test and urine. It's funny how I'm starting to feel emotionally better cause soemethjng is getting done instead of just self diagnosing myself.

I'll keep you all posted ... but I'm scared xx
