I really want a pork pie now. To be honest if I was at Tesco now, nothing would stop me buying one. It's just like a sausage roll or buying ham. I wouldn't buy a pork pie at a market but I would at a chain shop in which a pork pie was packaged and in a fridge.

carly2803 · 24/09/2018 19:30

So I can eat any pork pie???it's shop bought in a package...Not off a deli!!! Just craving !!! It's rediculous lol

I've been getting a hot Scotch pie every time I walk past the local bakery. They're SO GOOD. And I never ate pies before!

RomanyRoots · 24/09/2018 19:34

As long as you don't reheat it. There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind. However, you shouldn't warm them up, pg or not.

carly2803 · 24/09/2018 19:47

why on earth would anyone reheat a pork pie?! oh no....just straight from the supermarket out of a packet...deprived for months!!! wont be now!! thank you!

There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind. Which let's be honest, probably had fudge all to do with the pork pie. Hmm

wombatsears · 24/09/2018 19:51

There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind.

Hmmoh yeah, I forgot that well established scientific link between warm pork pies and blindness. 🤦‍♀️

Stephisaur · 24/09/2018 19:54

It never even occurred to me that you wouldn’t be able to have a pork pie? I’ve been eating sausage rolls too 😂

Athers666 · 24/09/2018 20:10

@stephisaur I'm craving a sausage roll now😂

CaptainCorrigan · 24/09/2018 20:16

There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind firstly, Hmm secondly why would you warm up a pork pie? Do people do that?

iklboo · 24/09/2018 20:17

There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind.

And John / Joseph Merrick looked like he did because his mum was frightened by an elephant Hmm

fourpawswhite · 24/09/2018 20:27

ShockI don't know what's more concerning, the fact people believe there's a link between pork pie and blindness, the fact someone warmed up a pork pie, or the fact I now need a pork pie and don't have any!!

brokenharbour · 24/09/2018 20:35

Why wouldn't you be able to eat a pork pie!

MrsCrumbtious · 24/09/2018 20:47

I craved and ate a lot of pork pies in the first few weeks of pregnancy and this baby is healthy and happy as far as my scans go. And no signs of blindness 😉

Uncreative · 25/09/2018 04:34

I don't know what's more concerning, the fact people believe there's a link between pork pie and blindness, the fact someone warmed up a pork pie, or the fact I now need a pork pie and don't have any!!. LMAO

BlueBug45 · 25/09/2018 06:35

OP go buy your pork pie if you can find an open 24 hour supermarket or petrol station. Follow the instructions on the packinging if you want to warm it, then regardless of whether it is warm or cold eat it and most importantly enjoy

sparkles212 · 25/09/2018 06:42

I'm defo buying a pork pie today 😛

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 25/09/2018 06:43

When I was in my teens a loooong time ago there was a sandwich shop near school that sold hot pork pies and for a while I had one every day. Glorious. Used to buy that and then stroll over to the baker's to get a vanilla slice. It was a healthy lunch because then I'd go into the greengrocer's and get an apple. Grin

strawberrisc · 25/09/2018 06:45

I ate a Sausage and Baked Bean slice every working day I was pregnant. My baby weight was nothing compared to my Greggs weight! 🤣

Redglitter · 25/09/2018 13:07

As long as you don't reheat it. There's a woman I know, mum of a friend, she warmed one up when she was pg and her son is blind

And it's been scientifically proven the pork pie was to blame? Hmm I've heard it all now

NewNameDueToMyIdiocy · 25/09/2018 13:36

Stop it! My poor pelvic floor can't handle the hilarity of pork pie induced blindness. Grin

Of course you can eat pork pies OP, the meat within them is cooked.

It's only uncooked cured meat (salami, prosciutto etc.) that you need worry about and even then you can safely eat it it's cooked (e.g. on a pizza) or if you freeze it for four days beforehand.

RomanyRoots · 26/09/2018 18:54

Redglitter

Yes, i most certainly was, and she has never forgiven herself. he's grown up now, I'm friends with his sister.

overagain · 26/09/2018 19:27

I want a pork pie now.

ButAIBUtho · 26/09/2018 22:35

Romany that's bollocks.
How couldn't they possibly prove it?

They wouldn't be able to diagnose the blindness until after the baby was born, by which time the pork pie would be long gone.

Your neighbours, daughters, sisters, friend is telling you porky pies I'm afraid.
