BOUNTY PACK!!!

Just been to collect my Mums to be Bounty Pack what a load of Crap!! (3 xLindt Chocolates, A miniscule tube of stretch mark cream and a couple of leaflets I had from the midwife) Wheres all the free samples??? I'm not sure if it is a bounty pack it says Emmas diary on the front, has anyone collected theirs from boots and is it any better???

SKM - Yeah I remember the Mums 2 be one being quite naff.... however, when you go into hospital to have your baby you get an Overnight bag will fullsized pack of Johnsons wipes, baby bath and lotion... and a toothbrush and paste! Then you get your new mother one that has loads more goodies in it too, so don't despair.

I think mine had a Frusli bar or something in it. Can't quite remember now as anything edible didn't last too long. Perhaps some shampoo too. Oh and an obscene number of leaflets asking for my details so they could hassle me for the rest of my child's life. I remember thinking, "oh, I'm not pregnant, I'm just a marketing opportunity". A bit depressing really.

Skm haven't even got one? Don't know first thing about them (or anything else it seems) I'm 12+4, still not seen or heard from a midwife, got 12 wk scan on wednesday 18th, maybe someone will tell me something then?

What do you need to collect one?
I feel really daft and excluded I don't know anything (first timer) and no-one seems to be telling me anything

i didnt get all the good hospital packs as i had a homebirth

When I was pg (2003/2004) I didn't get a voucher for the Bounty Pack till after I think the first scan (15 weeks). And it was a bit pants then as well! The ones you get as new mum in hospital are far better!

StaceyK- it's a pack of leaflets and tiny free samples that you tend to be given at the hospital. I got mine at my booking appointment at 12 weeks. Or you can log on to this and register here.

Humph! I'm jealous!! I'm in the US and I was charged for my bag of cr%p from the hospital - and it only contained formula samples & a nasal aspirator! The birth cost well over $9000 and no freebies.........humph!!
Think I'll go and sulk for a while........

Aw Mit!! Not fair!!

Can we all send Mit some stuff from our packs so she can see what she (isn't) missing?

DIY Bounty pack:

  1. One small snack bar
  2. One sachet of shampoo (steal this from the latest edition of Cosmo)
  3. 96 marketing leaflets on a whole range of things, specifically targeted at you in the middle of a confusing, anxious and hormonal time.
  4. Er... that's it.

thought I might get another pack at my 20 week scan but alas, no suck luck (?)
also bunch of leaflets (recycled)
some chocs (eaten)
stretch mark crean (used)
think that was it!

That was either the Bounty or Emma's diary one.

do you know there is a sequel to Emmas Diary- Emmas Diary the pre-school years - in our GP's waiting room - you get to find out which couples stayed together and how to treat nits!

Titania - home birth or not, you should still have had a bounty pack! My midwife brought mine the morning after ds was born! All new mums need a little pampering!

the couple that were on the rocks split up anyway. I think the couple with twins have another baby. and emma is, of course, blissfully happy...

I think I'll just about survive without it.......!!
I did take my own choccie into hospital with me - as I had gestational diabetes - the morning after dd arrived I was in bed munching my imported cadburys........yum!

PS: I think it is pure evil for the hospitals to send you home with lots of formula samples.......it would be so tempting to stop bf after those first few days of agony. And if it's sitting in your kitchen cupboard - all the easier. They even mailed me, before and after the birth, big cans of formula. Anything to get the damned stuff into your house!

Am outraged by the formula marketing people - that's just disgusting.

Emma is a fictional character who keeps "a diary" that just so happens to cover all of the stages, anxieties and symptoms of pregnancy in an easy to understand and informed way. Lucky for the rest of us eh?

"Beansprout's Diary" alas remains unpublished as it contains far too many references to discharge, eating crap food and going off sex. Not to mention all the swearing.

They are not allowed to send people home with formula samples in UK bounty bags, or vouchers for formula

Formula companies are EVIL!! !! Beansprouts diary sounds like a best seller.....esp. the going off sex bit (by dh is still trying to get us 'back on track' and dd is now 8 months!!).
hmb - interesting. Yet another example of the UK being better than the US regarding giving birth.... I won't start my usual rant don't worry!

but they can 'inform' you of follow on milk and include copious samples of that...

YOu are right, floow on milk is excluded in the bad. That is why there are adverts for it on TV, in the press etc.

The hospital where I had dd banned the hand out of all 'bounty' style packs when you were in the ward following delivery.

I did get others when I was at home.
