Fantastic! So happy for you! Did you cry when they told you the baby was fine? I was in uncontrollable tears! I think the people waiting outside thought I had been told bad news until they saw my face.

BTW, were you warned about further bleeding? I was, but did not really take it in until it happened. Basically, a few days later, I lost a huge amount of brown blood - most of it in 2 lots that came out literally in the space of minutes. It was a bit frightening, except that I realised this was what they had been warning me about. As long as the loss is brown (not bright red) you are fine.

Hope all goes well for you from now on.

LynetteScavo · 29/05/2007 19:01

Great news! My DH said he found the whole pregnancy worrying and stressful after we thought we'd lost DD. But of course he didn't tell me at the time.

tigi · 29/05/2007 19:04

Thats such good news! Really pleased for you.

insywinsyspider · 29/05/2007 19:07

i think i was all cried out by that point and just lay there staring at the screen in disbelief and then came out grinning like an idiot

was told that I prob won't get anymore bleeding, hope thats the case, there is a pocket of blood next to baby, have been having browny blood discharge for past couple of days, hopefully they are right and I'll have nothing else

we're just praying all goes well from now on, if all is well this one will be a lot more awkward than its brother if this is anything to go by!

dh was stressed last time and i had text book pg so i need to make sure he's ok - i want 3 dc's but dh say's 2's enough its too stressful! think its hard when they just have to stand by and watch and can't do anything to sort it all out

I remembr being flabagasted that you could lose so much blood, and there still be a baby.

DumbledoresGirl · 29/05/2007 19:21

Me too tigi. I cried when they told me there was a live, happy baby there because I had just spent 12 hours getting my head around the thought that I had lost my baby such was the amount of blood I lost.

Then the brown stuff that came out a few days later put even the red blood to shame - it was so gross.

But my baby is now a very healthy, happy 4 year old.

wow insywinsy, great news! I was watching this thread and gave me a huge smile when I came back and saw everything was ok x

insywinsyspider · 30/05/2007 19:54

some advice please! I didn't ask about theories about where the bleed came from, is there a chance I could still be bleeding? if there is just some blood left in there then thats ok, am now wishing I'd asked if it was possible that I was still bleeding from somewhere and it could affect the baby...

I think to be honest the fact that you had brown after bright red it usually means the old blood so it doesn't sound like you are still losing fresh blood.

I never found out where the bleed was coming from. You have a dating scan soon yes? That will show if there is still bleeding. If you have any worries or cramps etc.. before then, speak to your midwife or gp. They may scan you a bit earlier xxx

magnolia1 · 30/05/2007 22:23

Sorry i didn't mean dating scan i meant the 12 week scan x

insywinsyspider · 31/05/2007 19:57

thanks magnolia - i have a dating scan in a couple of weeks apparently EPAU one doesn't count and nurse was lovely she said come back anyway and get some more photos!
Thanks for advice - I need to stop worrying!

just got back off hols - I've had more bleeding it started on Tues and finished on Sat, it wasn't anything like last time, brownish pickish blood, like the end of a period but it just went on for a few days... where is it coming from?? I've a scan tomorrow but am worried again, am now 14 weeks, will this happen throughout my pg? I was in france this week and we decided not to come home but to wait and see - I'm hoping my 'mothers' intuition is right and its all ok... has anyone else had this?? I keep reading 'its really common for women to bleed throughout pg' but is it? (I don't know any!) how much? went do I call mw? I'm worried I could be camped out at GPs for next 6 mo...

I was never told what caused my bleeding. Remember to ask what might be causing it next time you se the Dr.

LynetteScavo · 17/06/2007 20:56

I presume the bleeding comes from blood clots in the uterus, especially when they come away. Why you get clots, I've no idea.
