Brown spotting first trimester :(

I'm 8 weeks and yesterday noticed when I went to the toilet that I had brown discharge / old blood in my knickers. I called the on call midwife and they've asked me to go in tomorrow morning for a scan.
I had a private scan on Saturday and saw HB but now confused with this brown stuff. Anyone gone through this? It's my 2nd baby, and didn't notice anything like that with my 1st.

I had this in both pregnancies and it was fine!! Like you both was panicked and rushed for private scan. But as long as blood is brown it’s fine it’s just old blood coming out. If it’s bright red then it’s fresh blood and there can be an issue. Fingers crossed for you!!

I've had two pregnancies resulting in my now 7 and 10 year olds and through both I had brown blood, pink blood, bright red blood. It is scary to see but actually quite common. Try not to worry.

Hi OP, I'm 8 weeks too and had the same thing yesterday. It was a very very small amount and seems to have stopped now. I have a private scan booked in tomorrow so going to try and hold out for that if there's no more today. Really worried though. Let us know how you get on today x

Hi ladies, went for my scan this morning. Baby still has a lovely strong HB although they did find some bruising of my yolk sac, hence my bleed! Got pics too.Smile feeling very happy now, just wish my 12 week scan in 3 weeks would hurry up! lol
How did you ladies get on?

Very happy indeed, I suppose even when you're out of the "danger period" in the first trimester there are other things to worry about in pregnancy too! The things us women do eyGrin

Brown spotting can be caused by sex, constipation straining and when your violently wretching when sick.

Brown is old blood, red is time to phone up.

@charlottexox scan was all good thanks. Lovely strong heartbeat and measuring right for the dates! So so happy! 😊 All starting to feel real now I've seen it

@HellaBella0 fab news!!! Did they give you an EDD? They gave me the 3rd of October. Must be crazy as DD will be turning 2 in August lol x

I'm so glad I read this post.

I've been having very occasional brown spotting and am 8+4. I had some yesterday but it only seems to happen once and then I don't get anything else.

I do know that brown blood is old blood, but my nausea that was pretty awful has almost gone apart from first thing in the morning though my boobs are still sore.

This is my first pregnancy and I cant help but worry sometimes!

@CRZ1988 have you contacted your midwife? They sent me in for a scan and all was good, thinking you should do the same Hun. Let me know how you get onFlowers

@charlottexox I've had my second booking in appointment this morning and mentioned it to my midwife. She wasn't worried at all but did tell me to call the EPU if it became pink.

I went to hospital today cos I’ve been bleeding more and it’s been proper red blood this time and they booked me in to have a scan in the morning, I’m so scared :; Took a pregnancy test just before and it came up positive straight away though

I've got this now I should be 8 weeks and wen I wipe its a really faint colour get a scan for today to get it checked out did anyone have anything like this???

If it isn’t much blood it’s hopefully ok. Good luck ! X At my scan they could see the yolk sac but not the fetal pole but that might be because they think I’m earlier than I thought. Have another scan booked for the 18th I’m so worried though I’ve been bleeding heavy now :( just really hope my baby is ok :(

@Winchester13 the heavy bleed doesn't sound too good Hun, any pain?
@Markygirl1995 yes had this Hun, went for scan and there was bruising on my yolk sac. Baby had HB tho so they didn't seem worried, haven't had any since touch wood
I have 2 weeks now until my 12W scan, feels like an eternity Sad
