Newborn or 0-3 months??

Currently 28weeks.
Just been sorting through all of the Clothes that I and other people have bought for baby. Seem to have a lot of 0-3 months and not many newborn things. Do i need to buy a lot of newborn clothes? How long were your babies in them and what was their weight at birth?
Just worried as I dont want to be short on anything.
Also wondering what I should bring baby home in as she will be born September.
Will an outfit and cardigan be OK, with socks, mittens and hat as it will probably not be cold?
Thanks

DS was 5lb 9oz and was in early baby, tiny baby then newborn. My advice would be to buy multipacks of vests and babygrows in newborn and 0-3, keep the receipts and swap for different sizes if needed. You may not need a hat in September and if you buy babygrows with built in scratch mitts you won't need mittens. A cardigan might be useful but generally a blanket over them in the pram will suffice. DS was born in January and rarely needed a cardigan.

I left the newborn sized stuff I took to the hospital there... humungababy didn't fit in it! I took him home in a 0-1 month size gro from mothercare, which was an in-between size.

Given that you can pick up vests and sleepsuits from most supermarkets, I'd personally just get a couple of newborn size things to take to the hospital then dispatch a runner to stock up once you know what size child you have. One multipack of vests and 2 or 3 suits will see you through until you can stock up.

My son was born 9 lb 3 and was in newborn for at least 4-5 weeks. He's 9 weeks old now and is still in 0-3 but does fit 3-6 joggers etc, I bought so many outfits (expensive next ones, silly me) and even though he does get the wear out of them, they aren't going to fit him for long so I wouldn't go mad x

My 7lb 7oz Dd2 went into tiny baby and preemie nappies as newborn were too big. You really can't tell until they're here.

Exactly Ryan started Grin
Think I will stick with what I've got for now and just let others buy bits if they want to. With my luck baby will be straight into 3-6 months and I will have nothing

I find people give smaller outfits too as they want them to wear them as soon as possible, so you may get gifted lots of newborn bits.
