Maternity wear rent

I asked this in a different forum as well but got no replies...This is my 2nd pregnancy and I dont want to spend too much on maternity wear. At the same time I dont want to by cheap not really fitting things either (How does H&M do it that on photos their maternity line doesnt look bad at all but in real...). And I work in the office and dont want to manage with just 2-3 dresses through the whole pregnancy. So I know in USA there is a popular service- you pay monthly and can rent clothes (leTote, Rent the runway etc) and I started looking for similar service for maternity wear in UK. I found this one www.beeyondexpectations.co.uk but their clothes look kind of cheap and selection is very small. The other one that I found is www.facebook.com/9plus1uk and they will stock the brands id like to wear (but cant really afford to buy) but they are not launching before early this summer (sent them an email). Im only around 20 weeks pregnant then so it should be ok, but...Is there any other? (i surely cant be the only on who needs this service)

I found the h&m leggings to be great. Haven't tried anything else though. They are so comfy I still wear them.

Try eBay. If you buy more expensive brands like Seraphine you could always sell them on again if they're still in good condition.

I second eBay. Bought a load of Seraphine/Isabella Oliver in perfect condition which I then resold hung into in the hope DP might let me have another one

I cant wear leggings at work :( and i dont want to buy 2nd-hand either really because im not the type who can sell anything later when im not needing them anymore , so ill end up just giving them away or throwing away. Thats why this renting would be most perfect for me. If i can just find a place :D

H&M is great! Totally saved me during pregnancy. Their "joggers" can be dressed as leggings, trousers with boots etc or with trainers/converse. Really versatile and the only things I've found comfortable since about 35 weeks til now - 40+1!

Hmm, I think renting is really going to be difficult to find. H&M is good for just basics but I have found Topshop great for variation! You can easily get away with some of their things post-pregnancy too (as you said you don't want to have to sell on later..). Also, I work in an office and ASOS have some fashionable maternity workwear without breaking the bank

I only bought some skinny black trousers for work from H&M at full price but everything else I have bought second hand from ebay and I have spent about £40 in total buying 1 pair of trousers and 4 tops. I am still wearing other non maternity tops I have in my wardrobe such as stretchy t-shirts from primarks and a-line style tops too so I have more than enough to get me through the week and would hardly say £40 has broken the bank.

I had some isabella Oliver and jojomaman maternity wear and wasn't that impressed with how it lasted from baby 1 to baby 2, so would be really dubious about where this rental company is going to get such high quality clothes that will stand up to repeated hires. I think because they know that pregnancies are 9 months they don't actually make them designed to last. All you get with the premium brands are some better shapes/designs that work well if you can't 'dress down' during pregnancy.
I wouldn't rent but would buy and then resell after...

I think thats another thing- i am used to wear dresses and skirts with jackets and I think i literally own nothing that would fit me soon from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe. And im just so used to having a quite wide selection of clothes i can choose from and for sure i dont want to be wearing next 6 months same 3-5 outfits every week. And i dont want to deal with reselling things later either (and even less i want to do - throw away) Primark for me is no-go anyway- ethical manufacturing is something that i strongly believe in and support :) God i need leTote in UK!

If you've got issues with manufacturer ethics and you don't want to spend too much, the sad fact is you've just ruled out virtually all of the high street and a fair number beyond for brand new gear.

I'm a bit confused by not wanting to buy second-hand specifically bc you're not the type to sell on so would end up giving it away. What are you planning to do with brand new gear, which will cost you more to buy in the first place...? And second-hand is more ethically credible as well based on recycling.

I'd really recommend looking properly at eBay. Like a PP, much of my wardrobe is second-hand - costs a couple of pounds (plus postage) per item on average and as things don't get worn that much, you'd never know they weren't knew. I've got some gorgeous things for an absolute steal without breaking the bank for the sake of a few months. At the prices I've paid I'm quite happy to give most of it to friends or charity when I'm done (not planning on more after this one).

New look have some good dresses. Focus on accessories and shoes etc, you'll be surprised how little you need. Maybe it'll help you buy less in the future - even more ethical!

...and actually i just asked if anyone knows any other rental companies :D I don't want to explain why i don't like the thought of buying (new or 2nd-hand) or why i prefer certain brands to the others :D I guess i'll just wait til the launch of one of those i did find...(hopefully can somehow fit myself to the clothes i have :D)

Your latest post is a bit snippy - none of the people who've replied know of any maternity rental companies, they're just trying to give you helpful alternative ideas to consider.

I agree with others re EBay - I got some great and cheap maternity clothing from here. I've never heard of a maternity wear rental Company and it's not something I would use if you are behind the ad as I can't see how the quality would last having been washed and worn by lots of different people. Plus, EBay would probably work out cheaper still

If you usually wear skirts and jackets, I'd recommend looking for pinafore / tunic type dresses that can be worn over shirts - you may find that by not buttoning things up you can use a lot of your existing tops and jackets with only 2 or 3 items, and still feel like you are varying what you wear. That's what worked for me at least until I was on maternity leave.

Not something I (or anyone I know) would use, tbh. Way too much hassle, clothes would wear out between renters and there's no way it would be cheaper than high st or second hand.

I think renting maternity clothes is a rubbish idea. Every body is different and would stretch them in different ways. All of my maternity stuff is cheap and cheerful and fine for about 6 months wear, it's not long to put up with limited choice.

what a lovely forum it is :D i just asked if anyone knew any other company. thank you for all the advice what i could wear:) i have lived in states and used rental before (not maternity), so it wouldnt be anything new to me.
