Knowing Gender before confirmation

Hi!

I'm 12 weeks pregnant so won't find out the gender for a little while yet but will before they arrive. I am convinced I'm going to have a boy and haven't even considered it might be a girl. I have to actively remind myself that it could be either.

I'm not going to be upset if it is a girl as I'm happy either way, im just surprised how much I think it's a boy.

Did anyone else feel sure about the gender? Were you correct?

Everyone told me my DS was a girl but I always thought he was a boy, this time I'm convinced it's a girl but only because the pregnancy has been hell so far (12 weeks) whereas with my son I had no symptoms at all

I was convinced that I was having a boy - have had a very easy pregnancy so far, studied the nub which was at a bit of an incline. FIL who claims to always guess correctly also thought boy. Sonographer today asked what I thought before she revealed, I smugly said I'm sure it's a boy - nope it's a girl! Obviously I'm lacking this mother's intuition. Very pleased I found out otherwise I'd have got it so clear in my head this was a boy I'd have quite an adjustment to do at birth. Though I know it's not a 100% certainty.

@blueroses99 - can you find out the sex with a harmony test? So at like 12 weeks? Haven't heard of that before so I'm intrigued

Blueroses99 · 03/01/2017 19:11

@saltedcarameleverything - yes Harmony tests can be carried out privately from 10 weeks. They test baby's DNA in the mother blood so is accurate for checking chromosomal disorders such as downs, Edwards etc and also gender specific tests as the DNA will also show XX or XY for sex! It's offered by my IVF clinic for extra reassurance but lots of other places do Harmony and similar tests such as Panorama. Finding out the sex is optional.

We didn't officially find out but I was convinced I was having a boy (even shopped for a boy)
I was right :)
No idea this time but we plan to find out at the next scan

I felt 100% convinced I was having a girl and all the old wives' tales suggested a girl too. We had a boy!
