First pregnancy - when did you first feel your baby move?

Hi all!

This is my first pregnancy (17+4), and in lots of different places, I am getting information that I may feel my baby as a 'fluttering'.

As this is my first baby, I know it is sometimes harder to distinguish 'fluttering' and 'digestive pops'. I'm unsure sure i've felt baby, it was in my abdomen, and it was slightly different to that 'wind' feeling I have!

Would be great to hear your stories of first time you felt yours!

TIA! x

16.5 weeks - two very distinct kicks at the very bottom of my uterus. Nothing else for at least another week though.

Second time round it was just under 15 weeks but I knew what I was looking for :)

Lupinlady5 · 31/10/2016 14:56

About 20 weeks but had anterior placenta

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 31/10/2016 14:57

First one about 17-18weeks. This time I have an anterior placenta so getting a bit of movement but not much even now at 22weeks

sianihedgehog · 31/10/2016 14:58

Like 25 weeks. I had an anterior placenta and before that really couldn't distinguish it from digestion at all.

NeverAShadowOfDoubt · 31/10/2016 15:45

22 weeks for me, twins with two anterior placentas

QuilliamCakespeare · 31/10/2016 15:49

I had an anterior placenta the first time too so had a 'blind spot' around my belly button where I didn't feel much.

jessm2109 · 31/10/2016 16:02

Thanks all - so It was possible that I felt baby move.

Hopefully I will get a few more in the coming weeks.

Nice hearing all have different experiences with when they felt.

13 weeks with my first... it feels like a twitch at the very early stages, like when you get a twitch in your eye, or like a little bubble popping xx

drinkyourmilk · 31/10/2016 16:35

I'm 18 weeks with my first. Anterior placenta.
I felt kicks around 16 weeks- then nothing for 2 weeks. Had flutters last night.
Not expecting clear consistent movement until at 24 weeks though.

ivehadenough10 · 31/10/2016 16:41

20 weeks with my first, 18 weeks with my second

Cococrumble · 31/10/2016 16:45

16 weeks, like little tiny flutters or tiny gentle bubbles.

38 weeks now and it's like being punched Grin

TerriB84 · 31/10/2016 16:50

Not until 19 weeks for me when I can say for sure it was definitely baby and not digestive rumblings.

catx1606 · 31/10/2016 16:56

15 weeks when I felt like a bubble was popping inside then nothing for a week. I'm 23+3 and can see my bump moving when I kicks

hels18 · 31/10/2016 17:09

I first felt baby about 18/19 weeks when I got some very paint fluttering, almost pops quite low down in my tummy. It was no where near my stomach, so knew it was different to my digestive system! Took until 22 weeks until I really felt some proper movement but the kicks will soon come :) I'm 28 weeks now and it's an active little thing and has just reached my ribs and started kicking in the oddest places!

Sparrowlegs248 · 31/10/2016 18:48

17 weeks on the dot, I was in the bath and saw it too! Quite irregular for 2-3 weeks then lots of movement from then on.

LondonRoo · 31/10/2016 18:56

Just before 16 weeks... I struggled to tell the difference between gas and movement at first. I described it (eloquently) as "like an uncontrollable little but nothing coming out"... Midwife was fairly confident it was movement!

28 weeks now and there is no mistaking it!!!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/10/2016 19:02

Exactly 17 weeks, remember it like it was yesterday and it was 15 years agoSmile

catx1606 · 31/10/2016 19:09

Hels18, a lot of my little ones movements have been down low but I've been getting kicked towards the right hand side of my belly button now. I love the feeling

Nikki2ol6 · 01/11/2016 10:17

With my first baby I felt her at 15 weeks. I was in the car and my boyfriend had went in to the shop and I was just sitting waiting and it felt like a gold fish flapping around! At 17 weeks my boyfriend could also feel her from the outside he said it felt like a ball rolling across his hand lol

jessm2109 · 01/11/2016 11:34

Smile!! Loving hearing these.

I'm sitting here, about to write here and I am sureI felt baby now. A slight bubbling in lower stomach.

Thanks all for your lovely stories. x

I felt "flutters" at 18 weeks. I'm now 22 weeks and can feel very definite small kicks.

catx1606 · 01/11/2016 13:07

My husband felt him a few weeks ago.he said it felt like he was rolling over.

AudreyBradshaw · 01/11/2016 16:12

Maybe 16/17 weeks for what I could be sure was "movement ", but actual kicks, probably 22/23 weeks for me feeling it, 25 weeks or so for dh to feel kicks. Now 37 weeks and it never sits still, loves a little rave and is genuinely painful on occasion when it decided to stretch! Anterior placenta too

Stacestoke · 02/11/2016 16:35

I started feeling things at about 18 weeks but couldn't tell if they were just digestive feelings or the baby moving. At 20 weeks I was sat on the sofa, and I felt brush along the inside of my tummy. So not so much of a kick but a sweep from left to right. I knew that was the baby moving and not my digestion. After that I could distinguish all the movements from gas or anything else.

Jellybean91 · 02/11/2016 18:35

I felt mine at 14 weeks. There was no way it was gas, it felt like I had swallowed a gold fish and it was flip flopping about inside! Was a wonderful moment.
