Period Pain without BH

Jade1979 · 02/02/2007 14:10

Has anyone else experienced period pain without BH, i am 35 wks tommorrow and already went to hospital in pre-labour a couple of weeks ago, hospital gave me steroids and a drip with stuff (don't know the name) to stop contractions, but for the last 2 days i have got period type pains (only in front though not in back so much) but they don't come with the bh, i have had some show but not big blobs, just like when you have a cold (sorry if tmi), any-1 with advise please.

was going to ask lulumamma (whose very sage advice to others I have read avidly) the same question re whether what Jade1979 described in her first post could be a show. plus today I have a little pinkness/tiny bits of blood over a few hours, but at no point a big blob.
am 37+1 and having lots of what I presume are Braxton Hicks, sometimes quite uncomfortable. I know the baby was 2/5 engaged nearly 2 weeks ago and TBH feels even lower now (like he's about to fall out in fact)

Second baby, and was induced last time, so no idea what it's like to go into labour on my own. this isn't going to continue for the next 3 weeks is it? I just feel wierd - is that any guide?

lulumama · 03/02/2007 08:28

morning mrs JC....

blood or mucus & blood?

MrsJohnCusack · 03/02/2007 08:31

well it was snotty mucus yesterday and the day before - not much, but noticeable.
Today some more of that, and then also some sort of pale pinky stuff - quite watery - and a few tiny blood bits in the mucus. BUt really not much at all. I think I am just getting my hopes up. Feel period painy ish today and yesterday but then have SPD so could just be that.

I didn't really have a show last time that I can remember.

MrsJohnCusack · 03/02/2007 08:32

(sorry am in NZ so it's evening here, in case all the timelines are a bit confusing!)

MrsJohnCusack · 03/02/2007 08:35

oh don't worry I know you can't tell me anything much and it could still be weeks. seeing midwife on monday, she'll tell me if he's engaged any further (WHY so early, I am sick of weeing all the time!)

just wondering if it's a show or not. but do realise you're not psychic! Am jsut totally fed up now

lulumama · 03/02/2007 08:35

sounds like a show

can be over a few days and not always one big blob ! snotty mucous and blood is a show..it means things are getting ready...doesn;t always mean labour about to start this minute, but certainly a sign...

are you coping ok with the SPD?

lulumama · 03/02/2007 08:36

x post !

MrsJohnCusack · 03/02/2007 08:39

oh thanks lulu!
yes the SPD has stopped getting worse and I have DH around all the time at the moment so not too much toddler hefting going on. So I am Ok, just feel weird. I think I'm just nervous because I don't what it's like to go into labour naturally.

lulumama · 03/02/2007 08:42

well, mrs JC, i was was induced with my first, so all very controlled and timed, as you will know !

i went into labour spontaneously with my second , and it was much better... the pain and intensity i was feeling 1 hour into my induction took me about 10 hours to get to in spontaneous labour....without any pain relief...

so i found it to be much more copeable with and much more exciting...having each bit happen spontaneously was fab..

show, labour starting, contractions, waters breaking, transition, pushing , baby !! just like that !! LOL!!!

MrsJohnCusack · 03/02/2007 08:45

am absolutely desperate not to be induced again - was so horribly quick last time, no gap between contractions, show and waters all at the same time, forgotten by midwives bla bla bla ending in 2.5 hours of pushing and a big old baby who needed resuscitating.

so I am probably leaping upon every sign avidly. Thanks for your help

lulumama · 03/02/2007 08:47

welcome if things are moving at 37 + then it sounds really hopeful you will have a spontaneous labour....keep thinking positive xxxxx

Jade1979 · 03/02/2007 11:53

Sorry guys still here, bummer huh, still VERY period painy (like feeling gas on your period) this morn, DH at work but keeps calling to find out if i'm ok (think he just wants an excuse to get out of work) he gave me a very nice back massage last night after i took a long bath, i am gunna take some paracetamol, do some (not to much) house work and have a walk to the shop, the hospital said they arn't worried about me being 35 weeks (today), because they said i am only just pre-term and i have had the steroids for DS so they are now treating me like any full term mum.

OP posts:
lulumama · 03/02/2007 12:25

don;t be sorry !! just potter along and wait for labour to start.....might be a while yet..i would just carry on as per...but keep us posted xxx

Jade1979 · 03/02/2007 12:28

Ok ladies here's a weird one for you, WEE or WATERS, went to bed last night feeling fine still no BH but still got pain (still not bad though) anyway this morn i was having really strange dream (i guess this is part of being pregnant but never had it with dd), and the dream promtly ended i got woke up cause somthing was soaking my nic nics and tops of my legs, didn't feel or hear a POP as i was asleep when it started, my nic nics don't smell of wee but i have very dilute wee wee (sorry if tmi), havn't had any more trickles or leaking so can anyone advise please. xxxx

OP posts:
Jade1979 · 04/02/2007 10:20

Oh BTW have had more BH this morn, more than the last couple of days but still not strong.

OP posts:
lulumama · 04/02/2007 11:41

might be a leak...or wee !! amniotic fluid smells sweet, not like wee....put a pad on and see if you have any more leaks..a hindwater leak is different to the waters going fully.....

SmileysPeople · 04/02/2007 15:31

My waters with Ds1 didn't go with a POP. It was an on and off trickle, for a day or so and I wasn't sure if it was wee, until a bigger gush came later.

If you get anymore get to the hospital so they can check for amniotic fluid, as if your waters are going but without labour baby could be at risk of infection. (at least that was what happened to me.)

Is that rught Lulumama?

lulumama · 04/02/2007 15:36

it is right , that when the membranes rupture, you are at risk of infection....if it is a hindwater leak, then the membranes are still intact, AFAIK...and it is not the same risk..

a leak can reseal and the waters are continually replenished until the baby is delivered...

NICE guidlelines state that a woman can be given 96 hours from membranes rupturing , until labour should be induced....

it depends on each individual hospital as to how long they will allow..and of course, if the woman herself feels comfortable ....

Jade1979 · 04/02/2007 16:25

Called MW, she said to go get checked anyway, so went in, they put me on monitor for half hour and said i had to stay on bed for 1 hour then they would do speculum (sorry sp), there hasn't been anymore leaking, they did speculum (but not the water test), just looked to see if i had any pooling in cervix, they said they couldn't see any so sent me home but mw i saw at hospital was a bit dippy (sorry to any mw's reading) but i had to check her mane badge cause from the way she acted and spoke made me feel like she was student mw but no she was mw, so now i'm not sure what to think, she said it could be nothing or back waters they didn't know, so now i'm still unsure.

OP posts:
lulumama · 04/02/2007 16:27

well, if your waters haven;t gone, that sounds positive at this stage!! i would potter along and just get on with things!! bet you feel better for being checked, even if MW was not quite on the ball !

jade1979 · 13/02/2007 23:28

OMG have i got food poisening (sp?) or could it be something else am now 36+3 and at about 7.30 tonight i put dd to bed, i felt a little light headed so started to run bath and wham from out of nowhere i am vomiting (sorry if tmi) shocked the hell out of me cause i didn't even feel sick, i still got in bath (very relaxing), got out of bath and another bloody shocker i got diarrhea (again took me by surprise), my braxtons have returned, still got the pain low down but not as bad, any ideas.

FurryFox · 14/02/2007 12:27

How are you feeling now? Was watching this thread when you first started it and thinking of you.

Am sure I have heard something about your body getting rid of waste in preperation for labour but am no expert so may have got that wrong

Ar you still having BH?

lulumama · 14/02/2007 12:34

there are d&v bugs around, so it might well be that, but any regular, rhythmic contractions, i;d call the miwife

Fingerscrossed2007 · 14/02/2007 12:56

Unfortunately for some women vomitting and diaorrhea through labour. If the contractions are rythmic....get to hosp.
