Wow - with a catchy title like that, who could resist? I was part of a lovely supportive thread like this one during my last pregnancy which was nearly 4 years ago now. I'm currently around 6 weeks pregnant with my 2nd DC. DS is 3.4

Anyone want to join me?

Quick update: going in tomorrow for steroids, staying 24 hours, home one night then back for section on Thursday. Yikes!!

Good luck MrsN! Hope the steroids won't make your levels too weird and good that you can go back home before delivery.
I'll be very interested to hear how the section goes, and the time after. Getting bit stressed thinking about the practicalities (lifting baby, lifting toddler, doing anything...) after having one. Will your DH be with you in hospital afterwards & stay with you till you get home?

MrsNuckyThompson · 07/03/2017 04:18

Hi Ripley - will keep you all posted.

On practicalities I don't remember struggling to really do much. I could definitely lift the baby straight away without issues as well as get in and out of bed etc (well I mean after spinal block wore off and catheter was out!). Lifting a toddler would be out of the question at first although I can barely lift my 3 year old as it is (to be fair he's 4 in two weeks!).

DH won't stay with me the whole time. He might spend the first night depending on the time of the delivery but we also want him to head home, get some rest and also keep things a little more normal for DS. Straight after the section you move to a high dependency ward for a little while (I had op at 10pm and just stayed til lunchtime the next day) and are very well looked after. DS just slept in with me tucked into my nightie so there was no need for help lifting him etc. Last time I think I sent him home at around 1am so we could all sleep and he was back by around 8am. And that was when we didn't have DS!

Obstetrician seemed hopeful that if I have section on Thursday I could be home by Saturday. Fingers crossed!!

Ps am clearly more apprehensive than I realised since I've been up for 1.5 hours in the middle of the night unable to sleep...

To update the thread: DD arrived this morning in fine fettle. I seem to be recovering ok with my main issue having been low blood pressure. Sugars fine and DD passed her checks too.

Her feeding seems more enthusiastic than her brothers was at this point.

Thank god that's over!!!

Hello you lovely ladies. I'm now 16 weeks and things have been very up and down with sugars lots of hypos. I'm going on a pump tomorrow Smile so lots more changes and tinkering to come. Apart from lots of lows I'm doing ok. I'm attending lots of appointments but so grateful for the care. Hope your all ok

teainbed · 12/03/2017 18:42

Hello nutcase. Good luck with the pump!

MrsNuckyThompson · 20/04/2017 13:46

teainbed · 21/04/2017 17:12

Hi @MrsNuckyThompson ! I had a beautiful baby boy a week ago. I got induced at 37 weeks due to dropping insulin requirements. DS was fine but had a few low blood sugars though we managed to feed through it. How are you getting on?

Nutcaserugby · 03/05/2017 08:16

Aw congratulations on the birth of your little boy X

MrsNuckyThompson · 13/05/2017 08:21

tea - sorry I missed your post!

Congratulations on the birth of your DS. Hope you are all getting on ok! My DD is 9 weeks old and it feels like she's been here forever with us!! X
