Hi all,

I'm going to a nearly new sale next week and was wondering what I should keep an eye out for? Either essential or would be nice etc

Also what things do you wish you had got in advance of baby arriving but didn't?

So if anyone has got any ideas for me please let me know, I know it is going to be mayhem there and I am dragging DH along so had better have a list else he's going to be peeved off!

Thanks in advance!

If you could get a sling that would be marvellous. Steriliser if you plan on using one. Maybe a few clothes.

Other things I would definitely buy are muslin cloths for dribbles, first baths and as a make do changing may. I'd get a proper changing may. And I'd order some reusable breast pads on etsy.

Mat not may!

MN's essentials list
if you've not got a pram etc then these are often a good place to pick one up (or an umbrella fold stroller for 6m+)
Best of luck with the impending arrival

Baby bath is handy but not essential

Moses basket and cot and mobile

Some first toys - black and white if possible

Baby gyms is essential

BOuncer - one that lasts until toddler years if possible

I had a changing table with a bath built into it. It was really handy. I had a bad back Nyway and it really helped when it came to not having to bend. Also agree with pp re the muslin cloths- you will never have enough!
The very best of luck it's an exciting time!

Thanks ladies!! Will check out that essentials list - didn't realise one existed!! mrsteddyruxpin I'm curious why black and white toys? (Guess I need to do some reading up on stuff!!)

smiley Newborns can see black and white better so things in this colour are easier for them to focus on and less liklet to over stimulate them!

I second the sling idea, also a nice baby mat/ play mat thing for tummy time might be available at a nearly new sale.

Congrats on your squish!Grin

I would say look for expensive stuff you're not sure if baby will like - we never had a swing for dd because I didn't want to spend £100 in case she hated it. Now I want one for dc2 but am umming and ahhing about it because it'll only get one use!

buffersandbumpers · 20/02/2015 22:05

Decent changing table. Your back will thank you for it. Muslin squares.

bonzo77 · 20/02/2015 22:06

Co sleeper cot. Wish I had one for my first 2. Definitely getting one for this one.

FoxyVeganJane · 20/02/2015 22:18

Ok I bought all the gear for dd and then I had my 3 ds and I realised I didnt need most of it.

I bathed my boys in the sink in the kitchen so just laid a fluffy towel across the top to make it soft. Loads easier to reach soaps and support them in the sink. So no bath or top n tail bowl needed.

Sling is a must ergo baby sport wonderful

Decent double buggy, if a second baby is even a remote possibility something like a Phil n Teds will save money in the future.

Tummy cushion.

Highchair I love our ikea one around £10 and wonderful.

Cot and yes a Moses basket really handy to have.

Loads of vests and sleepsuits only put ds in clothes when they started walking so around a year for my ds just so much easier.

Play mat and squeekers ours had jelly cat ones they were great

Stairgate easier to have them then be caught out later.

Cot mobile battery operated not wind up.

I would buy cot mattress, blankets, sheets and car seat new.

That's it. Oh and nappies. I went a bit wild buying all sorts of stuff for my first dc by number 4 I was a bit more levelled.

Enjoy the shopping trip. Oh and weleda baby products are gorgeous only just learnt this and youngest ds is 2, suggest them as baby gifts. All the best. :)
