Anyone else struggling to pick a name?

I'm expecting our 3rd son and really struggling to find a name for him. I feel like we've already discounted most names in the pregnancies of our other 2 sons and whatever we end up with won't be special to us its just going to be a name for the sake of it not because we love the name.
Anyone else struggling or got a good way of coming up with new names?

We're struggling- we actually had a name for years and then my fecking cousin named his kid that. And nothing seems as good :(

Watch loads of TV and pay attention to the credits. Films especially. Names pop out!

Yes, we already have a girl and a boy, am 23 weeks with another boy and really struggling to find a name we agree on, that goes with our surname and our other children's names!

My partners (and hopefully one day mine!) last name is the same as a film characters last name. I found it incredibly hard to pick a name for my DC1 that won't in anyway be associated with the film. Eventually I found two names I liked. Unfortunately both names were the names of said film characters parents!

I'm pregnant with DC2 now and I'm going to have the same problem all over again that pissing film!!!

Would love to know which film sarky!

We are also struggling with DD2. Had a boys name good to go and was sure it was a boy but she's a lovely little girl and now we are stuck.

I love Evie and no other name comes close for me but he hates Evie. He loves Katie which I don't hate but just feel it's a bit 'blah' and feel like I'd be settling for a name to please him.

Neither of us want to regret the name we choose but we can't find one that works for us both! Trouble is we picked the 2 girls names we both loved and gave them to DD1!! :S

I hate choosing names too, even for pets, I'm pregnant with dd2 and it feels such a responsibility, my husband likes Rosie which I don't mind but have a feeling it's going to become popular.
If dd1 had been born a few years ago she'd have been Lily which was rare then but now they're everywhere.

That said, I kept my name list from DS2 and updated/edited it whenever I came across a nice name (list was on my phone); and some of the names on the list had already been on DS1's list (which had been an old fashioned paper copy). So I had a good selection before I was even pregnant.
With DS3, we didn't 'find out', so we made short lists for both genders; but very early on I had a boy name that I absolutely loved, and was fervently hoping it would be a boy so I could use the name!
I love all my DS's names, especially DS3's. I think that with time, your taste slightly changes, or outside influences change (I.e. Which names are popular or become popular), so I never felt that I was choosing from the leftovers from DS1's name list.
I'm sure you will find another great name - in a way it's easier as you know your naming style, so you can find similar names more easily!

Reading Dogsmom's post, maybe I'm just weird though. I'm definitely a name nerd - I still have my baby name list (although we won't have any more children), as well as a dog name list (we don't currently own a dog and probably won't for a few years yet!). I also have some great cat name ideas, without planning to ever have a cat

Yes, I'm on DC3 too and always knew what we'd call another girl but it's another boy. I have a name I'm starting to really love but like you it's one we'd previously discounted for valid reasons (too similar to a close relative's, bit hard to say, same initial as another DC). DH is set on it but I'm still not 100%. I think if you've used your absolute first choice names already if is harder, but you might need to look previously rejected at names afresh with an open heart and see which excite you.

I am struggling. DS has his grandfathers name and its a classic and I love it.

No other name seems to compare.

Girls' names we're totally fine with (we don't have anything definite, but I'm confident we both have a few we like). But boys' names...good grief. I don't like ANY! Obviously I'll be happy as long as the baby is healthy but I'm almost dreading it being a boy because I don't think we'd be able to pick a bloody name

I'm dreading that this time around it's going to be another boy. Only because we don't like any other boys names. I love my sons name entirely but nothing else compares, girls names are much easier!
Obviously whatever sex it is if it's healthy that's all that matters but it may be baby boy for a while until we can find something that suits!!

I found picking the name the most stressful part of pregnancy and birth! We couldn't find any names we liked so had to settle, but we're still wondering if it's the right one as it's not a popular name and people keep saying "oh, haven't hear of one of them in a while". Hopefully if he hates it he'll pick something nicer when he's older!

It is tough. but each time we chose a name we were both happy with - typically I'd come up with a name as I had more time thinking about it.

Am exactly the same as avocadotoast. Have a few girls names that we both like but cannot agree on boys names at all! I just don't like them as much which is silly. Our surname isn't the easiest to match names to and lots of friends have named their kids unusual names where we are far nor traditional and so whenever anyone suggests names they're not really our cup of tea. Have a weird feeling it's a boy too, so will be entirely stuck if so!

I have chosen pet and children names based on sounds and not actual names. For example, I like the way 'p' sounds at the start of a name and I knew I wanted it to end in a consonant for a boy, then I messed about with one or two syllables, then the middle sound - and ended up with names I love - some of them 'real' and some made up or variations of real names. Maybe you could try that?

I am expecting No5 so I'm really struggling to find a name I love, as a pp said as you get older your taste in names changes, so I would never in a million years choose something that I had on my short list for my first born.

Also picking a girls name IS a lot easier than pickin a boys, I think I'm aving a boy this time and don't like anything yet. You just know when you have found the name! I'm only 15 weeks so there's still time :)

I had my daughter 7 years ago, was absolutely convinced it was a boy and only chose boy's names! Cue a nameless baby 3 days after birth and both grandmother's informing us they would be naming her themselves if we hadn't come to a decision by the 4th day! I think deep down I was desperate for a daughter and so told myself it was a boy so I wouldn't feel disappointed. This time around I would still go with number one choice for a boy that we had back then, and am still befuddled over any girl's names! I think it's a girl this time too.

I'm really struggling with a name for my boy, due in 6 weeks.

At my first gender scan, we were told we were having a boy. Great, we already had boys names picked, Leo, Levi or Luca. Went back for confirmation of gender and she is a girl!!! Now totally, completely stuck for a girls name. We genuinely havent found any we both love.

I quite like Maisie. But it was my great grandmothers name, and she was a complete cow so its putting me off. Plus OH doesnt like it.

I was glad my second child was another boy - I couldn't think of a single girl's name that I loved and the father would agree to (plenty he hated, though!), but I had a choice of 4 boy's names and he "chose" ;-) from those (carefully guided to the one I really wanted him to choose)

this time I have 2 boys names, but loads of girl's... hopefully will find out next week which list to concentrate on.
