Anyone else want to hold it in until Monday??

I am 38+6 and really want to avoid a late August baby. Have been given horror stories by teacher friends for the last 9 months about how I need to hold it in until the new school year and they have got me slightly . Is anyone else crossing their legs? I'm sure after Monday I'll be the complete opposite and trying every eviction trick going, can't please some people!

No I bloody don't. I want it out NOW but I hate being pregnant and even the thought of labour isn't looking too bad today

Im only 32 weeks so didnt think I would have this concern but my folks are currently away on holiday (they are dds childcare for my labour) so I did think it would he sods law that baby would arrive whilst they were away.

Ive also been nesting like a bird, have back and pelvic pain, and am really feeling babys head down in my pelvis.

I dont want to be this early regardless, but the August baby bit has me a little worried (even though my dsis celebrates her birthday tomorrow).

Que sera sera. I am 40+2 and weighing up an extra year of childcare to pay versus a possible academic advantage and I'm not really sure which is preferable tbh. Interested to hear what others in the same situation are thinking though...

Frankly if I was full term I'd rather have the baby. Am only 35+3 though so another long month to go...

Definitely some leg crossing with me.

I am a teacher and do not want an August baby if at all poss.

Due 15th Sept. That said though, I am sick of being pregnant now and want baby to come as soon after midnight on Monday as possible!

Hell yes. 39 + 1 here and every pain is making me think "please nooooo, I'm so close!" A quick google search and a read of some of the articles/studies is enough evidence for me.

Am sitting leaning back not forward, avoiding sex, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and walking!! In my favour, I think my due date of 4 Sept is wrong by a few days (so it's more like the 9th) and my last child overshot by 2 weeks so fingers crossed!

Well my midwife was saying she would rather have an August baby to avoid paying the extra year child care so I suppose there is a bright side, but I have just had so many teachers saying what a disadvantage it is.

I am doing the same as you Confused - avoiding all the eviction techniques but I'm thinking it won't make much difference. Waters broke worth dd when I was lying on the sofa eating chocolate and I hadn't done anything to provoke it.

Dd starts reception on Tuesday too so I would love to just be able to focus on her at the start of the week, will be if I can't take her to school.

I can't really afford another year off so could do with it coming this weekend plus I was a summer baby and it never did me any harm (I hope!) but if it's anything like it's parents it'll be the full two weeks late and dragged out kicking and screaming

Same here! 36+5 and despite having spent the last month thinking I can't wait for this little one to make an appearance, I'm now keeping my legs firmly crossed until Monday

Im being induced Sunday! But as both little brother and husband were Aug babies and suffered no hardships and are both very intelligent i can't say i have any worries :)

I'm 38+4 and keep changing my mind on whether it'd be better for baby to stay here until Monday or not. On the one hand I'm in LOTS of pain and have really had about as much as I can take, but then on the other when I am so close it seems I may as well try to hang on. Not that I have any control about it anyway, baby will come when s/he chooses to

To give the 'want to wait' brigade hope. Ds1 was due 29th August, I duly went into early labour on 30th and thought 'ah bugger' (dh and I both teachers) but equally wanting him out. Anyway he decided to give me a long old time of it and was born on the 1st. If pushed, pardon the pun, I am glad he's a Sep baby due mainly to his 'readiness' for the next stage; nursery, reception and so on, but he's definitely not the top of his class, and there are cons...more childcare cost as mentioned above. Plus they all catch up in the end! Best of luck to you all!

DS will be 6 next week. It's not all sweetness and light having a Sept baby!

His last year before school, he was incredibly bored. He'd outgrown nursery, and any organised pre-school activities, yet wasn't old enough (by a few days) to be allowed to go to a lot of the stuff he would have liked to have done. Eg; preschooler football group was just too young for him; next age group of same club only took him at 5. Similar story for swimming.

Nursery did a brilliant job with him for his 4-5 year, but he had clearly outgrown them.

Just to rub salt into the wound, he had a lot of friends only a week or two older who went to school and left him behind. When he was 4, just into term, he couldn't understand why he could n't go to school now.

And then there's an extra year of childcare.

Oh yes, dd is a summer baby and she is NOT impressed she has to wait another year until she can go to 'big girl school'. She's would definitely be ready for it but she'll have to wait.

I'm a teacher and not all Auguat born children are behind their peers. I have taught a lot of children who were 'top set' material and were summer born. Personally I'd rather pay one years less childcare fees. It isn't as if summer borns are permanantly behind their peers. I'm married to an August born; did well at school, went to University, got a fantastic career and works in his job whilst studying for a PhD. Babies will come when they are good and ready. Try not to dwell on the summer versus autumn born.

I was trying to as I wanted a september baby, but dd arrived this morning at 40+5. I thought I'd be ok as the earliest I'd delivered before was 40+8 which got me to monday.
So close ;)

It's a load of nonsense that an August baby is an issue (I am a teacher, from a family of early years/child development/school workers).
Teachers telling scare stories make me ... August babies have always been around. It's our job to support every child. Every class has a youngest: good teachers differentiate and support ... don't write off a kid based on their birthday.

As an August baby myself, I didn't feel any disadvantage during school. Coincidentally, lots of my friends from my university days are August-born as well, and we've spoken about not noticing we were any younger than our peers at primary school and just getting on with it. In fact the only time being August babies probably bothered us is during sixth from when others turned 18 earlier in the year and had ID to go to the pub!

I'm expecting an early-September baby and to be honest I'd much rather baby came along in the next couple of days. Not only save an additional year of childcare fees (eeeek!), but also avoid the boredom of an extra year before they can attend school. Ah well, baby will come when it's good and ready!

My dd was bon 11 days ago 2 weeks early, to me its just a birthday my ds was born end of sept 3 years ago def not ready for school etc it only matters up until ur 16 then it doesn't my bff was born in august and he's a top lawyer in london my other friend is a actor in america ans,v talented well educated nda he was born on 29th august. In my ds pre school class 7 out of20 were born in august
