Has labour started??

I'm currently 40+3 had a sweep 4 days ago, show the following day and today I have period type pains, tummy is tight but not sore, and isn't tightening then relaxing. Could this be early labour?? This is 2nd baby but 1st was induced.

Induction looms tomorrow :(

Good luck Frogem. Hope labour starts spontaneously tonight but if not, get a good night's sleep. Something needs to happen with one of these babies sooner or later!

I saw the midwife today, who didn't seem overly fussed by my period pains, she said she'll book to see me next Thurs when I'll be 40+4 for a sweep. She also said I was measuring small, but I am pretty small anyway (5 ft tall, and size 6 before pregnancy), so didn't seem to care...
she did say I'm 4/5ths engaged and to bounce lots on my labour ball to get him to drop the last bit and 'get labour started' which did seem promising!

Scuttle- sleep is proving illusive to me too, a mixture of the heat and spinning like a rotisserie chicken to prevent hip pain!!

Sorry to jump in on your thread, I'm 24+5 weeks with dc 1 so I've got a while to go yet. But when you say you're having period type pains do you have them where period pains normally are, low down or are they all over your tummy now your uterus is that high? Just wondering what to expect :)

I had a sweep and aside from bits of mucus plug nothing. I also measured 3.5 weeks behind Hannah and had a scan today and everything seems ok. They weren't bothered that iv dropped several growth lines it was still in normal range for me apparently. Due date tomorrow and mw to discuss induction!!

Good luck with induction. Take lots of magazines etc. My induction took 28 hours to kick in. V boringlol

What worked for me was long walks, rhubarb and custard and a curry.

Itsfab I wish! I think myself and others have tried most of those and still waiting. I'm dreading induction but it's become a reality as nothing else 'natural' has worked :(

I am 40+4 and have 6 days to induction, 3 sweeps, walking, bouncing (other stuff) and still no baby. Will probably have the induction too.

Is everyone else getting bouts of period pain/back pain? At 3am this morning I was woken up by it, and for 2 hours was incredibly uncomfortable, I also felt sick, so was convinced it was starting. The pains even came, got stronger, then went again! Then it just went away as quickly as it started!

Yes, hannah, exactly the same yesterday, was so hoping something would come of it, but then it just stopped completely . Apparently this can just go on and on and - yes, well, it is driving me nuts. I told my midwife and she said the same. It's been a week so far for me, on and off false alarms.

Its been 3 weeks on and off for me including hours of 3mins contractions and ending up in hospital on gas and air and diamorphine. It was prem labour. Im 35weeks on Friday and ive had enough of all this pain!
Nearly constant period pain.

Yes Hannah and goofy same here. Iv just stuck two fingers up to it and trying to enjoy myself, been shopping today, went to park yesterday, going on the train with 2.9 yr old tomorrow. I just tell myself it's nothing and keep gohng. It's frogem being induced today goofy. I see mw in an hour and will prob book one in then. Possibly have another sweep today too, think they're pointless though as unless baby us on cusp of wanting out they don't appear to work! Mw at hospital btw said cramps are just your uterus being irritable and cervix likely dilating a teeny weeny bit!

Glad you're keeping busy scuttlemum, I've got a 3 yo keeping me going here. Bloody exhausting and melting in the heat. Feels like the maternity ward will be a holiday I am delusional . I suppose they won't expect me to cook!

scuttle and frog how did the inductions go? Very much still pregnant here, despite what I thought were contractions starting in B and Q earlier! Alas... my new theory is that every day that passes the percentage chance of me giving birth goes up by like 8%! My new positive way of looking at it, I won't ACTUALLY be pregnant forever!!

Can I join? I'm 39 plus 2. Induction is booked for Tuesday, hoping to get going before then! I've been feeling sick and had loose bowel movements too.

Can I join? 40+2 today and no sings of labour whatsoever. I don't know how much longer I can go on in this heat. How is everyone else surviving? First sweep booked for Tuesday. I really hope it works.
