Big babies

I posted last week about measuring big for my dates. After another midwife appointment today I'm still measuring five weeks ahead and now the plan is to scan every two weeks to keep an eye on things. Baby currently is on the 95th centile (from scan last week).

My first baby was 9lb 9oz and 10 days overdue so I was expecting this baby to be big. However when I was talking to the midwife she said it was unlikely they would induce any earlier than the standard 12-14 days overdue as they don't like to interfere. As much as I agree with this I am wondering what the point of monitoring the baby's size is if they aren't going to do anything differently anyway? I'm due to see the consultant next week so will discuss it then with him.

This post has ended up longer than I planned but I suppose my question is if it was known you were having a big baby did this change how/when you delivered? I'm normally quite laid back but this is playing on my mind!

I measured big with DS was 10lb 5oz -- he ended up as an EMCS but that was because he was asynclitic rather than because of his size. They said they wouldn't induce early (but would have done at 40+10) because the evidence doesn't support it (which tied in with my own reading).

Also measured big with DD1 who was 8lb 15oz (advantage of having had big baby first time was that whenever people said "ooooh, aren't you huge, are you sure it's not twins, ha ha ha?" I could just smile sweetly and say "well, my first was 10lb 5 and they say second babies are bigger..." and they'd be stunned into silenece). There was talk of reviewing the growth scan results to see whether I'd be "allowed" a VBAC but in the end the harassed resident doing that appointment read the scan results wrongly (he read the "estimated current weight" as the "estimated weight at term") and waved me through. She was a quick and easy VBAC (and her head was exactly the same circumference as DS's, plus she was the same length so looked really skinny -- she gradually inflated over the first couple of weeks of bf).

(Then DD2 was a comparatively titchy 6lb 10oz and so irrelevant to this thread)

had some bleeding last night so came straight in. They sent me2 delivery due to contractions. Baby no longer transverse hes head down was back to back but ok no but dont know howlong for!
Had2 scans. Im 32weeks + hes measuring 36weeks.had 1 injection will have another tonight.

Ive lost plug now but been moved to maternity ward as they are trying to stop contractions with tablets which does for an hour or so but then they are back 10x worse.

Still getting good contractions now plan is watch and see if I labour asim.inlatent phase.
