...well I think so anyway but I would say that as I need some responses!

We're having a boy and would like some suggestions for names but we're quite fussy in so far as we don't like modern names and would prefer more old fashioned/trad names that aren't used very much IYKWIM. In our immediate family the names we already have are:

Miles
Theodore
Kit
Henry
Dylan
Frank (Francis)
Oscar
Leo

Anyone?
The only one we can think of are Felix and Caspar but they don't make me go "yes! That's it"

And Dominic - love that one.

spudballoo · 14/08/2006 19:50

Oh yes, Digby. Our Bertie was very nearly a Digby, but to be known as Digger. Might reinstate that one.

I also love Quinn, but vetoed by my H, too near old fashioned word for lady parts apparently.

Quentin. I like that, mostly because there was a very dishy boy at school called Quentin, known as Q. Oh what a big pash I had on him....

Parkylarky · 14/08/2006 20:01

We've got a Freddie Spitfire and a Monty but Felix is a top name. It doesn't really matter what my boys are called because I always forget and use the dogs name by mistake.

I'm convinced my baby will be a boy as we can't agree on names for boys!
Have you tried this site? www.angelfire.com/id2/heathersnamepage/

It has lots of more unusual names and lists of little used, old fashioned, traditional names.

laudaud · 15/08/2006 14:49

Glad to see Arthur featured here. DH and I were having problems with boys names when I was pregnant and finally agreed on Arthur. We had a girl...

Clary · 15/08/2006 15:11

ah now greeny, I have one of those unisex names on yr list and I have to say I have never liked the fact that it?s a man?s name as well (less common, but still).
Just as when I was a child i hated the fact that my short hair meant people often thought I was a little boy

ELM · 15/08/2006 18:55

My DP is called Sherwin. (Well that gives my identity away if anyone knows me!!!)

It's Anglo-Saxon for 'true friend'

Wilbur · 16/08/2006 10:01

gosh familytree - are you me? Just read your post about liking Gilbert - that's ds1's middle name. I think whatever you choose - I'm going to like your new baby's name !

Familytree · 17/08/2006 22:06

Hey Wilbur, great minds and all that!

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 17/08/2006 22:57

All of our names are on here- Samuel Stirling and Harold. How about DS1's middle name, Godfrey? That's cool (and also my maiden name)

Other names I like are Rigby, Christopher, Christian and William.

Familytree ...

I LOVE old fashioned names

Someone I know VERY WELL has a DS called Edward, shortened to Teddy as a baby but now at 6 is often called Ted ...
IYSWIM??????

Friends of mine with old fashioned boy's names have:
Stanley
Archibald (Archie)
Freddie

I used to teach an Augustus (Gus), a Gabriel, a Theo (pronounced Tayo - they were German), a Jaspar and an Oscar ... Love all of those too ...
