...well I think so anyway but I would say that as I need some responses!

We're having a boy and would like some suggestions for names but we're quite fussy in so far as we don't like modern names and would prefer more old fashioned/trad names that aren't used very much IYKWIM. In our immediate family the names we already have are:

Miles
Theodore
Kit
Henry
Dylan
Frank (Francis)
Oscar
Leo

Anyone?
The only one we can think of are Felix and Caspar but they don't make me go "yes! That's it"

I love Caspar and what about Rupert ( both mine girls ) or would have def used Rupert

CountessDracula · 14/08/2006 15:19

How about

Inigo
Cornelius
Digby
Jasper
Ferdinand

Great thread! I have the exact same problem. We have an Albert Rafael Thomas, known as Bertie. But we're struggling with a boys name for this baby. If it's a girl she'll be Celia. But if it's a boy it will be nameless at this rate.....

Very helpful suggestions!

Sommerville?

Aloysius
Ptolemy
Cosmo

Fimbo · 14/08/2006 15:22

Spud I think you need to have names that sit well together. e.g. I know a child called Gary whilst his little brother is Odin. Looks and sounds odd imo.

Rang dh and pretended that I'd had a flash of inspiration and told him about Lenny, he said he's only go for that if the full name was leonardo

Goodness me lots of very whacky suggestions here.

Leon

Sparkler1 · 14/08/2006 15:25

I remember when I was pregnant, both times, dh and I couldnt think of any boys names that we liked. Everything we came up with sounded awful. It's a good job we ended up with two girls.

Have to say, from this thread, theonly name that has appealed to me lots is Ellis.

Familytree · 14/08/2006 15:25

Yes Countessdracula.
I love Len/Lenny. It would really work with the other names too I think.

Not sure about Leonardo and a Theodore though. (too similar?)

CountessDracula · 14/08/2006 15:25

I have a friend called Jasper it really suits him (and one called Caspar too, in fact dd has two almost identical teddy bears called Caspar and Jasper)

NomDePlume · 14/08/2006 15:26

God, Neville is a grim name.

CountessDracula · 14/08/2006 15:27

Gary and Phil Nevilles' father is called....

Neville Neville

(I know from the oft used chant at the footie, "if your Dad's called Neville Neville you're a c**t")

CountessDracula · 14/08/2006 15:28

(to the tune of She'll be coming round the mountain)

Norah · 14/08/2006 15:28

Raphael makes me think of Ninja Turtles though !

Familytree · 14/08/2006 15:28

No!

CountessDracula · 14/08/2006 15:28

We had a dustman called Lenny when we were little

Fimbo · 14/08/2006 15:30

Lennie Bennett - did he do Celebrity Squares?? (showing my age).

Norah · 14/08/2006 15:30

Actually wasn't Leonardo a Ninja Turtle too ?

Familytree · 14/08/2006 15:31

Oh no!
He had a dodgy frizzy geri perm.

Thanks
