Just wondered if, although am sure there are, other mums/mums-to-be on MN due in March? I'm due on 27th :) How are you all feeling?!

CristaBell - I'm not going to lie it actually shocked me the with my first at how painful it actually is, you've just got to try to remember not to tense up and rather than screaming/growling breathe through the pain. You see so many ladies on OBEM with the gas & air but not using it properly, drag on that pipe like your life depends on it as soon as you know you have another contraction coming and you will be fine :) There is always pethidine (I had this with my first) and during an 8 hour labour I slept for 2 hours (whilst having contractions!). My partner and mum wondered what the hell was cracking off!!

That's my plan, to try and breathe through the pain and not to scream and loss control. The trouble is I'm a wimp with period pain! Thank you for the tip on gas and air, my midwife did mention on my last appointment about taking it properly and she said they will show me. I like the idea of pethidine and having a 2 hour sleep :) The hospital I'm going to give birth in will only offer me Gas & Air and pethidine as it's only a birthing unit, I will have to be transferred to a near by hospital if I want an epidural.

A tens machine is also handy if you have one? I used one with both of my two. At one point I made the mistake of ripping it off thinking it wasn't doing anything, it was then I found out it actually was, partner put it back on me and as it was still on (full blast I think) it shocked me, haha. Exact same thing happened to my sister when she was in labour!! They say a tens machine takes around 45 minutes to start doing its thing though, so if you have one put it on when you start to get uncomfortable so you can get used to the controls (there's usually an intense button you press during a contraction) before pain gets worse. I wish you good luck :) When are you due? x

I'm due on 27th. Can't wait now to find out whether I've been carrying a girl or a boy! Hoping for a waterbirth so I hope there's a pool free! X

Same here, we don't know if we are having a boy or girl and I'm also hoping for a water birth... Do you have girls, boys or one of each already?

Not long to wait now :) it's my first day of maternity leave on Monday so I'm hoping the nesting period will kick in soon so I can get the house in shape, all I want to do at the minute it lay on the sofa! x

I just had my baby due 27th March!! I have a history of early birth and mine have to be c-sections due to my transabdominal stitch. My ELCS was scheduled for Wednesday 12th, but on Tuesday I had loads of contractions all day, loose bowel movements in the morning, a blood pressure spike, got crazy emotional. By 6pm they were 3-4 minutes apart and I was shaking and had hot flushes - even though they weren't painful this was more than Braxton Hicks. So we went into hospital.

The contractions slowed at first but soon picked up around midnight and shortly after they made the decision to deliver (there's no other exit, and prolonged labour with two c-section scars = not good!) and I had her 5th March 2.03am at 36+6. She weighed 6lbs 7oz and had apgars of 9 and 10 - we came home yesterday afternoon 36 hours post op Grin Both of us are doing great!

Best of all my SPD and lower back pain are GONE! My c-section pain feels so much less of an issue in comparison.

So that's DC4 and my last! Never going to feel a contraction ever again!

Good luck to everyone else - I hope you don't have to wait long!

I have one of each already :) I have never had a water birth and am not entirely sure why one has interested me before. I am desperate for the nesting to kick in having just finished work and now being on maternity leave, but today being my first day off was NOT productive, unless you count having a bath and then having a nap after dropping little boy off at nursery productive...! I am just feeling so incredibly lazy!

Crispy - congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby! I said my last baby was my last, but apparently taking the pill and using condoms was no match for this one breaking through the barrier! Considering ALL forms of contraception all at once when this baby is here, haha.
