Did your feet get bigger after pregnancy?

I've now heard a few people saying their feet permanently increased in size during/after pregnancy?

Am worried as I already have size 8 feet, if they get any bigger I'm screwed for ever wearing nice shoes again.

Please tell me giant feet aren't inevitable!

Sadly mine did. I was a size 8 before and sometimes struggle now. They are definitely wider and some shoes I loved before are no longer comfortable. It's not a big difference, but I do notice it with some styles.

Sorry!

Mine have by about half a size. The shoes I already have are fine but I find I'm having to buy bigger new ones. It's not inevitable though - it hasn't happened to anyone else I know.

OatcakeCravings · 24/12/2013 10:04

Yes happened to me. A whole size bigger. I had to get rid of all my pre pregnancy shoes, 'twas a nightmare!!

Plateofcrumbs · 24/12/2013 10:04

Nooooo! I already have problems with width due to bunions (my feet are really not my best asset). Can I just chop my toes off?

This happened to me too! I went up about a half size and never went back down again. I am slightly worried it will happen this time too!

dobedobedo · 24/12/2013 12:03

Mine got wider and bigger in pregnancy, but afterwards they shrank back to a size 5. I'm pregnant again and they've only got wider - but I'm still a size 5.

DontCallMeDaughter · 24/12/2013 12:05

Size 8 before, size 8 now! No noticeable change to my feet. My waistline, on the other hand, is a whole other story.... Hmm

Frettchen · 24/12/2013 12:29

Yup - my mum went up a size when she was pregnant with me. Didn't gain anymore sizes with my two siblings, so I don't think it's incremental with each pregnancy... If that counts as a bright side...?

meditrina · 24/12/2013 12:36

Mine widened - which means for some shoes I go up a size (and put thingies in the heels) just to give my toes a bit more clearance.

Jbck · 24/12/2013 12:41

Mine got wider too which makes them look even shorter, size 3.

People make fun of my tiny toes.

PenguinsDontEatStollen · 24/12/2013 12:43

Romily - I didn't notice any further changes with DD2, if that helps at all. I think it's a one off due to the relaxing of the cartilige. Or something technical like that.

bonzo77 · 24/12/2013 12:44

About half a size. Makes a difference in some of my shoes. Not sure if it happened after my first or my second. It might just be that my threshold for discomfort was lowered. My feet never really swelled.

JadziaSnax · 24/12/2013 12:45

I'm a size 8 too and had to wear a 9 in later pregnancy with DS. They went back to an 8 afterwards. They didn't get any bigger 2nd time around.

busylizzie76 · 24/12/2013 12:48

Nope still a size 5 Grin

BobaFettTheHalls · 24/12/2013 12:50

Was a 4 before DS1, then a 3.5 wide fitting after he was born, now a 4.5 wide after DS2.

Moral is continue having babies until your feet are a reasonable size Grin

PotteringAlong · 24/12/2013 12:51

Yes! I went up from a 6 to a 7

hootloop · 24/12/2013 12:51

I am still a 5 but need a wide fitting when I used to need a narrow.

insomniacrisis · 24/12/2013 12:59

I was a size 9 before DS1 and am now about 9.5 which makes it virtually impossible to get shoes. I'm now pregnant with DC2 and if it happens again I don't know what I will do.

Lizaa · 24/12/2013 13:05

Yes. I went from 7 to 8. I am still a size 8 five years later.

Tigerbomb · 24/12/2013 13:35

Yep - went from a 6 to a 7 and then a 7 to a 7.5 but wear 8s for comfort

Bumblequeen · 24/12/2013 13:41

Yes. Originally a size 8 with skinny feet. My feet are definitely wider and I wear a 9 as 8's are a tight fit for comfort.

I hate shoe shopping. Always have done. I discreetly ask for size 8's and hide my feet when trying on shoes as I know 9 times out of 10 they will not fit.

I have 'big feet' complex!

Bumblequeen · 24/12/2013 13:45

JBCK be thankful for tiny toes. Mine are long like fingers!
