I'm 39 weeks almost and have gained loads! I am kind of person who puts on weight easy anyway..... I'm also tall and broad so people tell me I carry well( whatever that means!lol) I've put on..... 4 stones almost (head hangs in shame) anyone else ever as bad as me?
I must say I am eating well, I have had some more junk foods than I usually would I.e. Chocolate but mostly my diet is full of all the right nutrition.... Perhaps just too much nutrition!
Pls don't be horrible!

I feel like you do. I've had a very balanced diet (with the exception of going off meat early on, subbed with tofu and pulses) and been swimming, walking and yoga-ing like mad, still put on 3 stone! Some days I feel really down about it, and other days I think 'so what?'! Don't worry about it, it'll all come off again!

BummyMummy77 · 07/11/2013 14:14

3 stone here too. Really down about it. I feel totally disgusting. :(

Writerwannabe83 · 07/11/2013 14:16

I never actually know what weight gain is supposed to be like??

I'm 20 weeks and yesterday I weighed myself for the first time and was very surprised to see I've only put on about 9lbs. Surely this isn't enough?? My boobs have grown loads and I have a very obvious bump Hmm

cathpip · 07/11/2013 14:23

I'm 5ft 4 and usually weigh about 10 stone, i am on my third pregnancy. With my previous two I put on 5 stone, this one is going the same way, I truly look like a weeble by 9 months! I console myself with the fact that the majority of women don't look like the duchess of Cambridge when pregnant. :)

LottyLikesWindows · 07/11/2013 14:58

I'm only 31 weeks and have already put on nearly 3 stone. A wise friend told me not to worry - it will all come off I want it to later. Like you, I'm trying to eat healthily, but it's still all piling on. My bump is massive and my legs have doubled but all else looks about the same, more or less.

McBaby · 07/11/2013 15:06

Everyone is different and you really can't tell what is water/nessersary tissue/baby/fat. I put on 1.5 stone in each trimester last time but lost 2 stone day I gave birth 1.5 stone over next month and buy 6 months post baby was 1 stone less than pre pregnancy. I presumed I ha put on lots of fat as I didn't look bloated and I was immobile for the last 3 months but I must have retained loads of water!

Currently 15 weeks and only put on 7lb so nearly 2 stone less than this stage last time but no idea why its so much different! Waiting to swell up overnight!

NiceOneCenturion · 07/11/2013 15:31

I believe that as long as you have a reasonably healthy diet, you put on what your body needs to for your baby.

I've put on nearly 3 stone at 30 weeks, but I was the same with my first and was down to only about a stone over my pre-pregnancy weight at my 6 week check. Was back to normal weight by 6 months just through breastfeeding a big hungry baby and lots of walking with the buggy, so I'm not stressing about it this time.

It's hard not to let it get you down at times, but really don't worry about it now, it is not forever and you've got plenty of time to think about it later if you want to.

I'd put on around 12 to 13 kg by 30 weeks. Diet hasn't been great but at least two thirds of the weight gain was in my first trimester insatiable hunger stage. Since I was overweight before pregnancy I was referred to a dietician who has put me on a strict diet so I don't gain any weight in the third trimester. After a couple of weeks I'm just too hungry so I'be decided to cut out junk but not to be so puritanical about portion sizes. The moment of truth will be at my next appointment but I feel like I'm not gaining any more weight. It really is no fun being heavily pregnant and starving so as long as you're eating healthy foods I don't think you should beat yourself up about it.

terilou87 · 07/11/2013 18:10

With dc1 2&3 I put on 3 stone with each I did lose it practically straight away with first two but got even bigger after the third. I really did enjoy eating for two and it wasn't healthy eating either, with dc4 I was really careful as I was already overweight and only gained 17lb which I lost after giving birth, this time iv got gd and I'm still overweight so I have to watch what I'm eating and have only gained 9lb and I'm 31 weeks which I'm quite happy with Smile

LittlePeaPod · 07/11/2013 18:12

I am 32 weeks and I have out on 12lbs but I also have keytons (not good)in my wee so I would love to be able to put on a bit more but struggling. Even eating junk isn't doing it...

Everyone is different Op. I really wouldn't worry about it. My SIL put on 4st in her first pregnancy and my friend put on 5st. Both f them drooped the weight rally quickly.

NoComet · 07/11/2013 18:14

I never stood on a pair of scales during either of my PGs.
Only ever stand on scales during pill check appointments.

I'm too heavy, according to the graph and I don't care.

MirandaWest · 07/11/2013 18:16

I put on 4.5 stone in both pregnancies. It came off again afterwards. I wouldn't worry too much about it tbh

SeeYouNT · 07/11/2013 18:20

oh god i really struggle coping with weight gain in pregnancy, i know its necessary but i hate it

am 17 weeks with DC3 and only put on 2lbs so far but my bump is now obvious

its not the general weight gain that bothers me as much as that i worry that the bigger the bump gets the more stretched the skin and muscles will be and the less likely it will be to go back to any sort of decent flattish state :(

and i am only 5 foot 1 so lucky you OP being tall i bet you do carry it well

CuteLittleToes · 07/11/2013 18:20

I think no matter what and how much you eat your body will still put on as much weight as you body needs to grow a baby and get you ready for breastfeeding. Otherwise, women who are really careful with what they eat wouldn't put on any fat, but in reality most of them do.

Please don't worry about it so much. You are growing a human. You'll have plenty of time to shed it off afterwards. And, as others have said, you don't really know what that weight is - it's not al fat, a lot of it is baby and all supporting "material", water retention, etc.

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy :)

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 07/11/2013 18:23

I'm like cathpip, I'm on my 3rd pregnancy, normally I weigh 10 stone, 5ft5, with my last two I gained...... 5 stone! Im 34 weeks with this pregnancy and so far I've gained just over 3 stone so better than before.

It's reassuring to hear other people are in the same boat. The good news is that I lost all of the weight within 6mths both times through breast feeding, walking and following slimming world. I even temporarily hit the 9 stone mark but my weight eventually settles at 9 1/2 -10stone.

Even though I get days of feeling fat and disgusting I try and remind myself that the end is in sight and I'll soon be back in my size 10 jeans! Don't worry to much now, op, it will drop off after the baby is born.

Sanch1 · 07/11/2013 19:21

I put on 5 stone! Still got half to lose, DD is only 15 weeks though so not to worried. I won't be eating so much cake with the next one though!

Tea1Sugar · 07/11/2013 19:48

I put on 3 stone with dd, but lost it all plus loads more within 2 months which left me quite underweight tbh. I'm 16 weeks with dc2 and put on about 8lbs so expecting a similar weight gain. But if I can lose it once I can lose it again!

Suzietwo · 07/11/2013 20:06

5 stone twice!

Can hardly be arsed to try this time!

SeeYouNT · 07/11/2013 20:08

yeah me too tea1sugar gained 3 stone with DC1 which is a lot on my 5 foot 1 frame. but lost it super quick and was a stone lighter than pre preg within 3 months ( Envy at old self )

i looked like an actual weeble when i was pg though :o

but then with dc2 i only gained about 17lbs but took much longer to shift :/

purrtrillpadpadpad · 07/11/2013 20:16

Don't worry about it Op. Really, try not to. Congratulations :)

Shellywelly1973 · 07/11/2013 20:46

Im 28:weeks & ive gone from 9.5 stone to 11 stone. I was totally horrified...but im realising that isn't alot compared to other mums.

I dont eat any extra when pregnant apart from the early weeks but I ate toast, bananas & plain biscuits.

With previous babies I was back to my normal weight within a week or two. Im giving myself a bit longer with this baby due to my age, weight & being my 6th baby!

wokeupwithasmile · 07/11/2013 20:52

I put on 15 kilos altogether. I was so stressed about it and disliking myself. I wish I hadn't (that much). It took me 4 weeks to lose it all post delivery, and I did not do anything to reach my pre-pregnancy weight again. In fact, now that I am breastfeeding I am eating more crappy food (chocolate, peanuts, ice cream) than before, even in bed 5 minutes before sleeping, and the baby is sucking it all out, so really, just concentrate as much as possible on this wonderful time of your life, and you will get that weight off you.

Romily · 07/11/2013 21:15

In my first pregnancy I put 4 stone and I lost two of them really quickly after birth. The other two sadly stayed but if I am honest I did nothing to lose it.

This time I am 28 weeks and I have so far gained a stone. Conscious about not gaining a huge amount this time so I am making sure my diet is healthy from now on instead of mainly junk food Blush

I am however completely convinced that since this is my last child that the weight will simply fall off me after the birth and that I will return to my pre children weight with no effort at all Wink

perfectstorm · 07/11/2013 21:27

I was 8.5 when I got pregnant with DS, and 14.5 when I delivered. That's 6 stone. I lost 3 stone without even trying in the first few months, then was at 11 after a year. Back at 9.5, where I stayed, within 2 years. Am currently 12 at 26 weeks and grimly accepting that I may just be one of those people who gains a huge amount of pregnancy weight - but am confident most of it will fall off, so not too bothered.

SPD and greatly reduced mobility have a lot to do with it, IMO. As well as a craving for carbs. I'm not even eating much junk at all, and nothing fried etc. I'm eating more, absolutely, but I also think metabolic rate must have shifted, because I am piling on the boobs and hips and thighs here without tripling food intake!

Hotmad · 07/11/2013 21:53

Ahh well I feel a bit better now hearing that others have out on a bit too, when I googled it, I read that people were saying 2 stones at most and that made me feel so bad.... I'm 32 years old, I hate it that my weight makes me feel like this, I've always had issues with weight as I'm sure many women do.... Most days now I want to hide at home cos I feel that people I know will be thinking... 'Oooh she's put on weight hasn't she' how silly cos I know that I'm creating a human being and that's magical! I kinda can't wait to have baby now so I can lose some of it! Anyways this is prob a bad day.....
