I'm only 20 weeks so a fair way to go yet but I'm just wondering what the general consensus is for when you should have your hospital bag ready. What did you guys do? :)

I packed mine at 32 weeks, I think that's when most people do.

Carolra · 11/07/2013 11:58

Me to! 32 weeks. Then went into hospital without it (we didn't realise I was in labour... ). Didn't need most of it anyway :)

Futterby · 11/07/2013 12:00

I'm 38+3 and mine's still not packed...Blush

TBF, this is DC4 and, as the first three were stupidly late, I have this mindset that I've got ages to go. I should probably get it done though.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 11/07/2013 12:03

DC1 came early so I ended up packing between contractions.
For DC2 I packed it almost as soon as I'd had my second scan. Grin

Boosiehs · 11/07/2013 12:03

I'm 34 weeks and haven't packed yet. Will probbly do so this weekend.

HeyMicky · 11/07/2013 12:06

Me too, PackedLunch. Although I did have a list drawn up early on so it was just a matter of popping everything into a bag

MightBeMad · 11/07/2013 12:14

37 weeks, mostly...

Soontobemama · 11/07/2013 12:21

I'm 36 weeks - I should do it this weekend really.

iclaudius · 11/07/2013 12:21

Packing it - 37+

purplemurple1 · 11/07/2013 12:28

I'm 32 weeks have a list but don't intend to pack it until I stop travelling for work in another 5 wks (as that is the bag I'll use).

Sunflower1985 · 11/07/2013 12:46

Yesterday. 36 weeks. Off for the weekend so it's coming with, just in case.

missesjellybean · 11/07/2013 12:51

I didn't pack mine until the day before I went in to be induced. I just really didn't think I was going to go into labour early lol....I didn't. I lived close enough to hospital that i could have sent hubby home for things after baby was born. also just a tip I packed enough for me and baby for s couple of days and it was a nightmare living out of suitcase. next time I'm taking one bag for day one (having elcs so will be in a few days) then leaving stuff out for hubby to bring on day 2. also next time going to be using lots of bags within a bag so it's easier to organise and find things.

islingtongirl · 11/07/2013 12:55

Mm almost 34 weeks and not packed yet. About to start mat leave so will make a start next week. Aiming to be packed by 36 when going away for weekend to a wedding. Hopefully she stays put in between! Grin

MummyPig24 · 11/07/2013 13:00

I packed mine at about 36 weeks. Ds was early so I half expected dd to be too. She was a week late, she likes to do things in her own sweet time!

Pascha · 11/07/2013 13:10

DS1 about 37 weeks, though I started making lists and piles of stuff at about 32 weeks.

DS2 birth+2.5 hours Blush when it became clear after my lovely waterbirth at home that I was going to need some treatment to stop the bleeding which had slowed to a trickle but stubbornly refused to stop.

Moral of that story? Pack Your Bloody Bag. Do it early and add bits at the last minute if necessary. I didn't and DH was running around the house like a looney looking for spare pants and clean toothbrush.

Get a pile together. Put in one pack of baby vests, one pack of babygrows, half a dozen nappies, a couple of pairs of pants, clean tshirt and joggers or whatever is comfy, a pack of maternity pads, new toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, some cereal bars and a bottle of water. Then even if you go in early you have a basic survival kit. Nearer the time you can add frippery as and when.

sheeplikessleep · 11/07/2013 13:18

I'm 33 weeks today and still not yet packed.
DS1 and DS2 were both born at 37 weeks, so I do want to get it sorted this weekend.

Futterby · 11/07/2013 13:20

Thanks everyone! I'm just so excited, so impatient for my lo to be here! :)

I've been wondering this, but as I'm carrying twins I've been advised to have it packed at 26 weeks. That just scares me to be honest. And god knows what to take! I'm thinking a bag for me with a couple of bits of baby clothes, then a proper separate bag for them that can be left in the car until after birth and DP can bring it in. As I'm now 19+6 I guess I need to get a wriggle on and make sure I have all the stuff needed for at least the bags. All just seems too soon and I hope to god it sits there unused for at least 10 weeks!

Bejeena · 11/07/2013 13:41

34+2 and not done it yet. I hadn't planned on doing it for a few weeks yet but I think I am one of those more relaxed types anyway and to be honest all I need in it initially is nightie and breast feeding bra, some old t shirt to birth in, book, pack of cards or similar and a toiletry bag. Anything else husband can bring later. We live abroad and hospital provide pretty much everything. Husband can always pop home to get something for baby and me to wear home. I'd rather have to little and manage than be overwhelmed by a bag full of stuff when trying to find something

TheFalconsmistress · 11/07/2013 15:52

going to pack at the end of the month at 32 weeks here too :)

ExhaustedMamasita · 11/07/2013 16:08

Packing mine this weekend - 32 weeks.

Wickedgirl · 11/07/2013 16:11

I packed mine at about 22 weeks. I like to be organised so I have main bag packed and then a going home bag packed for baby and another for me. I am now 27 weeks with DC4

danielswifetobe · 11/07/2013 16:13
