I'm only 20 weeks so a fair way to go yet but I'm just wondering what the general consensus is for when you should have your hospital bag ready. What did you guys do? :)

Thanks for this thread. 36+1 and need a kick up the ass to get this done.

36 weeks, 5 minutes before leaving for the hospital. I was in such a rush I didn't pack anything useful and DH had to come back for it all after the baby was born.

I'm 36 weeks on Saturday. Going to pack it any day now, honest! Actually, I have pretty much got everything I need, just need to actually transfer it to a bag. Aaaany day now.

Properly packed baby's bag at 32 weeks and my bag at 34 weeks but had been gathering the stuff needed together since about 20 weeks.
Stocking up when things were on offer and putting them all in one place just in case.

Hello! Following this with keen interest as hoping to make a start on mine soon. Question is, some of you mention packing food for hubby. Any top tips for what will be good to include? Cereal bars are a good idea so thanks for that one Xx

Queazy · 11/07/2013 18:42

I'm 34 weeks and packing it this weekend xx

LouiseD29 · 11/07/2013 21:18

Nellysgirl I'm going to pack cereal bars, chocolate, fruit (apples, bananas) and maybe some peanuts or something. If we have time / I'm not in too much pain I might make some sarnies. It's my first though, so I'm not speaking from experience!

Nellysgirl · 11/07/2013 21:20

Oooh I see! You have to pack the snacks nearer to the time. Haaaha I'm really absent minded lately Wink

ElleCloughie · 11/07/2013 21:36

I packed mine at 26 weeks, but only after having a slightly neurotic moment which I think was partly to do with hearing a family member had just had their baby daughter 5 weeks early - I panicked, and wanted to know that everything was ready RIGHT NOW!

farmersdaughter · 11/07/2013 21:45

I didn't pack mine I got DH to do it...Blush Reason being I didn't want to be having an contraction and him asking me where the bloody phone charger etc was.

Work out really well, as he was able to find things quickly whist I was high on drugs GrinGrin

About 38 weeks or so.

35 weeks on Sunday and not even thought about it beyond buying some maternity towels and breast pads.

Baby's bag however is packed

Longfufu · 12/07/2013 08:30

I packed my bag yesterday, I'm 36 weeks. I've just need to pack a little bag for DS.

themilkmonster · 12/07/2013 08:56

I started putting stuff in at about 36 weeks but didn't pack properly until I was overdue!

I did have a list and everything ready to go in it though, from about 32 weeks I'd been picking up things each time I went shopping, maternity pads, breast pads, big knickers etc.
