...and fancy some company for the final countdown?

I'm due on the 24th. Sweaty, incontinent, and terribly impatient although I know I should be basking in these last few weeks of freedom :)

Sorry to double post, but the guidelines thing reminded me, did anyone else see the bonkers article on BBC news a few weeks back advising pregnant women not to eat processed food, or drink from plastic bottles, or buy foods in packaging.

Perhaps it wasn't that extreme, but it did sort of imply that the only things that were safe for us to eat were things we had personally foraged, cave-woman style, from the local woods or something Grin

Ive been alot more relaxed about food this time. I had a sausage and egg cob the other day at a cafe and I just thought I NEED the egg to be runny! It was amazing..
Am very happy that the temp has dropped but I do feel a bit of a spoilsport as its so lovely that summer is finally here.
Yes I saw that article but paid no attention to it.. if I had to go out to forage food id starve Grin

JRmumma · 11/07/2013 09:22

moomin how funny, i also refer to me wee's now as in how many egg cups worth there was. My DH thinks im insane.

IM pretty lucky in that i don't like pate or blue cheese so im not missing those. I also decided after 12 weeks that the risk of salmonella from a lion marked egg is much less than catching something while on the train to work, or getting run over so ive eaten them all the way through. Same goes for steak.

I still have just over 6 weeks to go and not feeling too bad in the heat so far. But baby has his head wedged under my ribs almost constantly so im uncomfortable enough!

moominmaiden · 11/07/2013 09:39

JRmumma this might sound strange but I think it comes from secondary school sex education! The school nurse told us that the average period has an egg cup full of blood (lying sod) and ever since my brain has used that as the standard measure for secretions down below ;)

I read read / have been told that the salmonella scare was practically invented by Edwina Currie and has little to no basis in fact? Apparently there hasn't been salmonella in eggs (at least with the red lion stamp) since 1992 or something silly, but the guidelines still haven't been changed.

But honestly, most of the information out there seems contradictory and I never know what to believe, so have opted for the laid back approach.

With all these modern guidelines it is a wonder humans didn't go extinct thousands of years ago Grin

Can I join in please? ??

Due date is the 20th but have been pretty bad with pains lately.

With ds1 waters broke 10days before having him and had him 5 days before due date (was supposed to be induced as the risk of infection but the hospital messed up)

Im anxious over the birth as ds1s wasn't straight forward and I was in hospital a few days after the birth.

Ive not really limited myself to food. I dont fancy much of the stuff we cant eat. When I have eggs I do have them runny lol.

How nice is the cooler but still summery weather?

Its beautiful here suns out with a lovely breeze

danielswifetobe · 11/07/2013 10:54

Hi isitme1.. my first birth was awful and im a bit anxious this time round. This time baby isnt back to back so hoping that'll help..
Have had a burst of energy this morning so got a few chores done but am suffering now as my back is killing me! Enjoying the cool breeze too Smile

Isitme1 · 11/07/2013 11:25

This 1 is back to back. They didn't say last time so im guessing ds wasn't.

With him waters broke at 12am Monday and had him on Friday. Midwife swore at me. Hemmoraged after having him. Everything came out with him. Had to have emergency surgery due to the tears I had and to pit everything back. The midwife who delivered ds fucked up by trying to sew me back together.

Had nightmares for ages after. I can still hear her voice describing what she waa doing and what she could see.

Yuk!!
I was offered a section but ds1 has special feeding needs and I need to ve up and about quick. Consultant said there will be a dr in the room with us and the first sniff of it happening agai or if I find it too much they will do section. They don't qant to push for a section as they have to push bladder down and I have kidney problems so they dont waant to aggravate anything

Steak. I just want rare steak. drools like Homer Simpson

Lydia161290 · 11/07/2013 12:07

Oh, anybody hate it when they hear someone has had there baby?! A friend of mine has just had a little girl this morning, another friend of mine had her baby last week. And here I am, sitting looking down at the bump whining 'Are you coming out sooon? I really want to meet you' Grin

Moom I have a big bottle of water in front of me...I knew I should have climbed a mountain and went to the waterfall today. :D haha!

Reebok · 11/07/2013 12:18

Isitme, that sounds awful. Hope it's an easier labour this time round. I'm so fed up! Keep getting my hopes up that baby will come early only to be let down. Midwife was convinced I was going into labour on Sunday but stupid contractions aren't happening often enough...get out of me already!!! I'm so uncomfortable!

danielswifetobe · 11/07/2013 13:32

Oh isitme that sounds really scary. Hope its easier this time for you..
Im hoping for a vbac this time, but guess we'll have to see..
Am sooo done with being pregnant now and if one more person asks if its twins I swear I will kill them!! Yes my bump is quite big but its not THAT big!!

Isitme1 · 11/07/2013 14:06

Oh god yh!! I hate it when they say ooo your big is it twins.
Ive been polite (only just) so far. Thw next person will get 2 fingers!

My bump is big as baby is 3 weeks ahead of dates and ds1 was 8.7lb.

Reebok ive been let down that many times ive lost count lol

rosiedays · 11/07/2013 16:12

Bounce bounce bounce. ....

Reebok · 11/07/2013 16:40

Haha rosiedays...I think I need to start doing that! The walking, spice and raspberry leaf tea don't seem to do anything to help. And as for sex...well that's the reason I'm so uncomfortable in the first place so no way!

hydeyhi91 · 11/07/2013 16:59

I personally can't wait to have a nice cold drink of something alcoholic!
Had friends over last weekend to watch the tennis and I made a massive jug of Pimms for everyone and just had to sit there sipping my lime and soda while wanting to stab them all with the stirrer

mamachelle · 12/07/2013 07:31

morning all, hope your well!

had another productive day yest even though i spent most of the day at my friends in the garden eating all her dcs icepoles. have woken up with a headache so i either didnt drink enough yest or cos my body isnt used to 6 hours solid sleep now!

littlem- had to laugh when reading your post from yest, all i could think was - she got to play with stickers . . . i had to clean my wheelie bin! aha, hope you had fun though.

lydia, another baby to snuggle! i wonder if lots of cuddles could trigger labour hormones? was she early/overdue?

moon- hi Smile i thought maybe you had disappeared to have baby moon. glad to see you back, was a perfect thread to start, i dont have any rl friends that are pregnant or have children less than 2.5 so its a bit difficult to whinge (as much as i could) at them.

um, ill be quiet now Smile

have a nice day all

sending laboury vibes to whoever needs them Smile

JRmumma · 12/07/2013 09:09

Getting used to this maternity leave lark now, only just woken up!

We started putting our nursery furniture together last night, and one of the wardrobe doors has a massive chip on it! So no doubt im going to now spend the morning arguing with mothercare customer services. Oh well....

BraveLilBear · 12/07/2013 09:22

Hello can I join your virtual waiting room please? Also due on 22nd. Got a touch excited last week by building niggles, but mat leave seems to have killed them off!

Who's going to pop first, us or the Duchess?

LittleMilla · 12/07/2013 09:28

Word on twitter is that Kate is in labour. I cannot imagine the pressure she must be under, poor love. And we think we've got it bad!!

Stickers were a lot of fun yesterday! And good to do something useful. Although my nesting took over and I ended up cleaning the workshop too - my poor step mum didn't know what was going on!!

Errands this am - taking odds and sods back and generally staying inside Grin. I'm then going to take ds1 (2.3) to the zoo this afternoon. But not before I've had a nap with him at lunch!

Anyone else baking and generally nesting? I. Cannot. Stop. Grin

JRmumma · 12/07/2013 09:38

milla i haven't found my nesting instinct yet! Im doing less than usual around the house at the moment. Ive still got 6 weeks though so hopefully it will kick in soon!

Isitme1 · 12/07/2013 10:04

Still in bed here as ds is still asleep :)

Not going to get much of a lie once no.2 is here! !

Done most of my nesting got his crib ready yesterday.

While ds is at nursery later I will probably get the lsst bit of ironing done.

Yep poor kate. Shes due this weekend I think

Reebok · 12/07/2013 10:22

Yep been nesting away...I have an obsession with cleaning at the moment daily! And while I'm not a baker, I seem to love cooking. It's driving DH mad because there's just too much food!

Has anyone else around the 'almost' 39 week mark noticed their breasts feel sore again? Mine have been aching since yesterday! Wondering if it means my milk is coming in...although I thought that was meant to happen after the baby arrives. Confused....

hydeyhi91 · 12/07/2013 14:07

I'm nearly 39weeks and my boobs feel the same, although another pregnant friend had her milk come in weekss ago and she's started expressing and freezing it!
ive spent the last two hours bouncing on my ball and leaning over the pouff (sp?) and now my hips hurt! Midwife said that baby was 1/5th engaged on wednesday, got awhile to go!

Isitme1 · 12/07/2013 14:10

Reebok ive noticed that too. Im 39 weeks tomorrow.
I see consultant on Monday.

Ds gone to nursery and im going to chill a bit.

I have low hb iron levels and need transfusions but couldn't have last 1 due to the reaction I had.
I csn sooo feel it now

moominmaiden · 13/07/2013 14:59
