was ready to share story about my post childbirth fissure which made every poo feel like crowning again. Thank heaven for the MN baby book which warned me about this and made me feel slightly less broken. And the magic cream the dr prescribed without batting an eyelid.

How far along are you? Im 40+4 with DC2 and developed them TODAY!!! Had a sweep yday so thinking its the pressure or some other annoying symptom of being overdue. I could cry they hurt so bad and im so fucked off im still pregnant
I bought some germaloid stuff and that helps for about 15 seconds, how the hell do you push a baby out with them?????

get the anusol suppositories and out germaloid cream in as well

27 weeks. Have a vague recollection of having something similar with dc1 but not to the extent I was walking like John Wayne, as I am now.

Is anusol ok to take in pregnancy? Sorry am on phone so can't scroll back to see names. If I wasn't so bloody tired i would go and sit in a bowl of water but I need sleep.

Am tempted to wake up DH and send him to the chemist though.....

Get the normal Anusol, works a treat if anything pile-related could be considered "treat".

I nearly cried over my piles when they first popped out (during pg 2 after a very long walk).

There's another thread somewhere about this which I found a few weeks ago at just the right time - someone recommended Nelson's Haemorrhoid (sp?) cream, which I found in Holland and Barrett. It's the only thing I've used (and I have a cupboard full of different creams now!) that actually takes the pain away. After using it very regularly for a week or two they practically disappeared but then I stopped I using it and have run out till I can get to the shops again tomorrow! Definitely go to the GP for something stronger after the birth though (that's what I'm planning to do).

I ended up at the GP's with this yeaterday. She wanted to have a check there were not any pretruding. Came away with a prescription for Anusol and some Lactulose. Along with my thrush cream, SPD and iron tablets I feel as if my body is just giving up!

Piles suck. I developed them a couple of weeks ago in parallel with a non-pg related thang. My god, I nearly fainted a couple of times on the loo the pain was so bad. I was literally crying out, then would despair thinking 'how will I ever cope with childbirth if I can't handle a tiny bit of poo?!'

I tried lactulose. Very low dose. Made things a little uncomfortable in that I couldn't put off going if ya know what I mean. I also took to pushing them back in/massaging them after the fact. Not sure which worked but the combo did it and now back to normal. Still a bit stingy but I can handle this.

WIll definitely be investing in some harder core stuff for next time though. Best of luck all.

Anusol isn't working.... The normal one..... Or do you have to get through three tubes before it makes a difference. Am now on iron tablets 3x a day too so am I just doomed in the poo department?

Cheese I just wanted to try to make you feel a little better....I have had piles for most of my adult life and they got significantly worse after having DD1. I have been told I need surgery as they are now a permanent fixture but can't have it until I'm finished having children. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and they are now so bad I can hardly even walk. Been awake the last hour googling wacky home remedies. Clearly the pain is sending me loopy as I have just gone downstairs, grated a potato and put it in my pants. And I'm not even joking . I've drawn the line at actually inserting a garlic clove up there (honestly google it!!) Piles are a comedy issue for some but crippling for others so you have my utmost sympathy!

I was about to say Anusol but sounds like you need something more. Maybe a GP can advise what's best during pregnancy. Certainly sounds like Lactulose would be a good idea, iron tablets make everything a bit solid don't they?

The thing is though.... My poo is more runny than solid...... Not diarrhoea runny but softer than normal and has been all pregnancy, but I still seem to be straining. Wierd. Going to call doctors today.

Sudocrem worked a treat on mine, far better than Anusol and Germaloid cream! And lots of dried fruit to ease the pooing process!!
