Unborn Baby Nicknames

Just wondering what everyone calls their unborn babies? I'm struggling to think of something cute/fun other than what we called DS & don't want to use 'it'! Any suggestions?

I'm 20 weeks and since we found out our little one has been Fris, a combination of our names!

bumpitybumpbump · 28/09/2012 12:37

We call our bump Clumpy. Not very romantic, but because he/she was originally just a clump of cells! Pretty sure we'll regret sharing that with family as I suspect the nn might stick post birth!

MrsJohnDeere · 28/09/2012 12:38

Very much just an 'it' until birth. Even though I've known the sex I couldn't refer to them as 'he' because they still didn't seem like real people.

Can't bear 'bubba' etc.

This bump's called Stormy, short for Stormageddon. I showed its dad the episode of Doctor Who featuring baby Stormageddon, and we decided it's an excellent name. Unfortunately it would be borderline child abuse to put Stormageddon on the birth certificate, but if we can't come up with anything else in the next few months...

mistresspenguin that's incredible! My Wolfie was because I lived in Tooting where Citizen Smith was filmed, Wolfie Smith, Tooting Popular Front etc!

stormy that's an awesome name!

Ours is The Crumb, as it seemed too small to be a proper bun (but is more like loaf now...hmm). One of my friends calls it Brian as there's a strong chance it'll be born at Christmas..

Leftwingharpie · 28/09/2012 19:38

Our baby bump is called TiRel, it's short for tiny relative.

pegster · 28/09/2012 20:43

Ours was Iggy, short for Ignatius which is what we told all interested (read nosey) people was our name of choiceGrin Not DS name now I hasten to add

carve133 · 28/09/2012 20:48

DS (3) has for some reason christened our baby 'Horace', which is even funnier now we know she's a girl Grin

marshmallowpies · 28/09/2012 20:51

Flump is the baby in Emma's Diary...

Ours was LB, short for Little Baby. The moment she was out she 'became' her real name and we've never called her LB since. Call her all sorts of other silly stuff, though! Grin

Twig the Wonderkid after a line in David Bowie's Drive in Saturday

DH has put foot down as love it so much really wanted to call her Twiggy.

Signet2012 · 28/09/2012 21:48

Signet Grin

Once we decided on Elizabeth she was called lillibut which has stuck and now she is 3 weeks old!

theTramp · 28/09/2012 23:20

Socs, short for Socrates - the pregnancy for first 12 weeks was code name project Socrates. I think Socs may stick as a nickname even once he/she is born.

StellaNova · 28/09/2012 23:23

First baby was named "Storm" in the womb by DH, which then changed to "little Hackney". DS2 didn't have a name I don't think.

I was called Charlie as a bump and then my parents couldn't stop calling me Charlie so had to give me a name that could be shortened to Charlie when I was born ie Charlotte. Otherwise I was going to be Danielle. I feel I had a lucky escape, no disrespect to anyone with that name although clearly I have just been a bit insulting, sorry.

StellaNova · 28/09/2012 23:25

Stormy I wrote my post without seeing yours, how funny! Our Storm was before that episode, although I am a Doctor Who fan - it was because DS1 was conceived in a storm (TMI...)

AlisonDB · 29/09/2012 03:44

Ds 1 was Beany, looked like a jelly bean on 1st scan, also still gets this from time to time, and loves it, hes just turned 5
Ds 2 is Pippi, Beanys choice of name as he was the size of an apple pip when we found out i was pregnant.

I also liked Pootle (from the Flumps) but Beany over rode that decision lol

DH thinks we are both totally bonkers and only refers to Beany by his real name, and only calls Pippi, "the Baby" ;-)

spg1983 · 30/09/2012 08:54

Ours is Turnip. I have an app on my iPhone which compares baby's size to a piece of fruit or veg every week and I just thought turnip was funny so it stuck. We're now up to the size of a mango but I still like the name Turnip!

Gingerpanther27 · 01/10/2012 12:37

Sproglet Grin DP is now taking credit for that nn and I'm currently sitting at 10/13 weeks until I get scan
