Hi guys,

I was due yesterday and had a sweep yesterday. Woke up this morning from pains in my lower back which then transferred to pain in the front, they were coming every half hr.

Just went to the loo now and my mucus plug has gone - it was flegm like and browny/redy in colour. The pains have also come back they happen every so often maybe half an hr.

Does this mean labour is imminent? What shall i do? Friend said now is the time to have sex to get it all going - isn't it dangerous to have sex if the plug has gone?

I'm so nervous!!!!

That's all fine. Perhaps your body wants to take a break for a bit. Doesn't mean nothing's been happening. Perhaps it has decided that it has done enough for now and wants to have a rest before cranking up.

Do what your body tells you to.

StarlightDicKenzie · 14/02/2012 17:32

It might be frustrating but think of it has your having a gentle birth rather than a fierce one and try to enjoy it and rest.

MrsRV · 14/02/2012 18:27

You'll get there!!! I can't say I know how you feel or anything like that as this is first baby but really... U sound like you're doing amazingly well and coping with the contractions perfectly xx am totally hooked on checking this thread and fill up everytime I do! Such an amazing thing you're doing... And like I said before, I'm learning loads and thinking back to this will no doubt help me out when it's my turn. Xx

openerofjars · 14/02/2012 19:40

It'll happen, it will. Snooze, keep hydrated, eat something if you can. You can do this: you're doing amazingly well and you're nearly there now, love.

I hope your OH is so proud of you (we all are!). You are so strong and you will birth your beautiful baby son. I promise you, it'll all seem like a dream when he's here.

squiggleywiggler · 14/02/2012 19:43

Your body has grown you a lovely baby without you giving it a second's thought. It WILL do the same with birthing your baby.

It can be so downheartening when things are stop-y start-y but really, really normal and there can be lots of really good reasons to just trust your body to do it the way it needs to.

So, maybe time for a bit of Valentine's cuddling, a lovely bath, a glass of wine, some smooching and some sleep.

Hide all your clocks, turn the lights down and light some candles. You've got all the time in the world and you can do it. I AM the Hackney Doula so I know these things Wink

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/02/2012 19:44

Aw bless. It will happen. You've just got to hang in there. At least you are doing it yourself. My body showed absolutely no sign of going into labour at any time up to the point when I was induced at 42 weeks! I always felt defective!
Get plenty of rest while things are slow. {{hugs}}

Hope you're okay, I am def sure you are, can't wait to see the update although I know it might take a while. Watching with HUGE interest because it'll be my first time in a couple of months and I'm aware I'm not supposed to go haring off to the hospital the minute I feel something but I'm petrified of going too late!
