Hiya, just wondered if theres anyone like me whose 9 weeks expecting baby number 4?I am excited, anxious, nauseas and knackered! This wait for a scan has been excruciating. Keep thinking what if I've got it wrong! Am gonna look like a right idiot!Having baby number 4 was a huge decision for us but decided it was what we both wanted and didn't take long at all which surprised me as I am 40 now.Havent told other boys yet as waiting for good news at scan first, but so looking forward to it. At the moment, each day consists of a count down to when I can put my PJ's on again!Feel like I am in hibernation!anyone out there to share tales and experiences so far?

Best thing not " bed thing"!!!

TruthSweet · 16/02/2012 20:51

Good luck with the scan bumasbigasbump!

I guess give her her moment in the sun and wait a little bit to tell family (unless you are bursting to tell everyone!) at least that is what I think I would do (but as I have never been in that situation I may behave differently if it actually happened IYSWIM!)

bumasbigasbump · 17/02/2012 16:59

Yes that's what I thought. Scan now postponed until 7 weeks!
I prefer to duck under the radar to be honest until I am sure everything ok. Having had 2 miscarriages I know that nothing is a cert until that 12 week date!

bumasbigasbump · 17/02/2012 17:50

Was just wondering all you fourth timers out there if you showed much earlier than before. I am suspecting that due to my age and total lack of muscle tone I will show earlier than ever... How has this been for people?

GizzyBoo · 17/02/2012 18:05

Well I'm only 7 weeks but I'm a bit of a fatty so I am guessing I am going to be able to hide the wee button for a while.

I do feel very bloated though but I am guessing that will die down when the sickness and random eating does??

TruthSweet · 17/02/2012 19:11

I'm showing! I have been in maternity jeans for about a week now as my normal ones were digging in (not totally sad so don't wear elasticated waist bands normally!).

On the plus side I am nearly a stone lighter than before I found out I was expecting - only 4,128 stone to go before I am a 'normal' weight (actually I exaggerate - 4st to go). I lost 4lb with DD3 so I am hoping I will be similar with this pg (put on 17lb with DD1 and 4lb with DD2).

Yorky · 17/02/2012 19:11

I'm sure I'm bigger than I've been with the others, but not sure I showed much earlier than before.

How frustrating to have your scan postponed, but fingers crossed for everything going well this time. Does your SIL know about your previous mcs bump?

Hope half term isn't being too stressful for the school aged parents, not long now Grin

bumasbigasbump · 22/02/2012 20:39

Yes Yorky she knows about one mc but was really rubbish when I went though it. I think she just had no idea about it's dreadful impact.. I think people assume that if you have three kids already then losing a fourth isn't such a big deal but for me my number four has been just as enter as the others. Primarily I really want my little one to have a sibling close to his age., I think I am about 6 weeks , feel incredibly sick and tired however I just don't assume anything now until I have that scan that tell me everything ok. My last pregnancy was a missed miscarriage and I felt pregnant right up to the d&c. I am convinced that I am looking pregnant... You know how things start to pop out just below your bra strap but might just be all the toast I'm eating to stop myself feeling sick!

Bearhugs43 · 24/02/2012 22:45

Can I join you ? 6 wks with number four - dc will be 7,5 and 2 all being well. Had early scan today after a v scary bleed on Wednesday- heartbeat etc all as it should be but am still petrified.

Nice to see 4 is not as unusual as it feels. I am dreading the reactions being negative if we are lucky enough to get past 12 weeks and announce.

Secretly hoping for another dd to even up the numbers to two all - but healthy in any colour is perfect :-))

ecstatica · 25/02/2012 07:45

Yay...very pleased to have come across this thread :)
Congratulations ladies, there are a good few of us!

I am 24weeks with DC4, have 6, 5 and 3.5 year old, all 3 currently getting over chicken pox!

It'd be great to keep this thread alive, as Truthsweet said above, I also feel a bit of an oddity, I am on the ante-natal thread which is fab but good to speak to other mums who have 3 other kids.

Also suffer from SPD but have been seeing a really good physio its definitely harder this time round waddling, hobbling--, running around after 3 others.

Congrats again all Grin

TessTosterone · 25/02/2012 12:17

I am now 25 weeks. For the first time I am struggling with spd, back pain and hip pain. I am waddling! I am also sick of other people commenting in how huge I am. Yes I know!! I assume it's just that my body has given up.
Is anyone else struggling. I am so tired. Getting up to wee several times a night , which means hobbling there. How on earth can I cope for another 15 weeks??

GizzyBoo · 25/02/2012 13:11

OOooh I too am secretly hoping for a pink one....though would be happy with either really.
Still feeling rotten. Getting harder to hide from the older children but im almost 9 weeks now so sickness should be wearing off soon....right!

I was 10 years younger last time I did this.....And I can't half tell!

ecstatica · 25/02/2012 13:55

Tess - Snap! Although not my first time with SPD (had it with previous) I am in exactly the same boat. I am also hobbling to the loo too many times a night and I am really, really tired. I remember feeling like this with DC3 at 35 weeks not at 24!!!! Will be good to have some virtual support me thinks! :)

Bearhugs43 · 25/02/2012 19:30

So how did you all find friends and family reacted to the news? I know certain people are going to say we are 'mad' and i know my in-laws are going to drop off their perch!
My sister us also of with her first so don't want to take any of her limelight.....

TruthSweet · 25/02/2012 19:43

My FIL was apparently not best pleased but I explained to my MIL that I couldn't have an abortion* for a baby when there is nothing wrong with it except it's parents lack of funds! She agreed and FIL had obviously had a talking to by MIL (I love her she is fab) and he offered us a large (well for us large) lump sum to help us buy a 7 seater so we can drive the children around.

My mum apparently guessed when she saw me drinking fanta (my no. 1 pg craving with DD1 - I drank nothing but fanta for about 5 months!!) but didn't say anything Hmm

  • I am in no way anti-abortion but I couldn't abort a baby knowing the only reason was a) we hadn't planned it and b) we would be a bit short of money for a while and would have to cut back a bit.
TessTosterone · 25/02/2012 21:50

Glad to hear I am not alone ectatica ( though obviously not wishing you to be in pain!). Will def follow this thread as in rl my friends have very much moved on from this stage.

TruthSweet · 25/02/2012 22:49

Tess - I had SPD with DD1, a tiny bit at around 6w with DD2 (MW told me not to be silly you can't get SPD til you are very pg Hmm what's this funny sharp pain at the front of my pelvis then?) and almost none with DD3 unless I did something silly like push the hoover around or carry DD1 & DD2!

I have had a lot of SPD pain this time around - it even happened before I knew I was pg (I just put it down to ovulation spikes).

My friends are either pg with their 1st/2nd or had 2 and are DONE! so I am a bit at sea Grin Apart from this thread of course Smile

Bearhugs43 · 28/02/2012 22:35

All gone quiet? It's hard this being pg plus 3 dc to look after!

bumasbigasbump · 29/02/2012 08:18

On my way for a 7 week scan now. Absolutely petfrifiedSad

Bearhugs43 · 29/02/2012 09:14

Thinking of you x

TruthSweet · 29/02/2012 09:20

Good luck bumasbigasbump - fingers crossed for a good outcome.

GizzyBoo · 29/02/2012 09:36

Good luck Bum Thanks

threecurrantbuns · 29/02/2012 12:50

Can I join, I'm 32 weeks with number 4. And feeling very impatient now. Definitely felt it this time when he or she arrives my other three with be 5, and just turning 4 and 2.

buttonmoon78 · 29/02/2012 12:59

DC4 is 7m and currently fast asleep in bed. My others are 14, nearly 12 & nearly 5. Three didn't work for us so #4 was decided upon and he's wonderful. He really completes our family (I'm getting sterilised as soon as the hospital will send me an appt Wink).

There were so many prophets of doom - 'he won't balance your family' 'it'll just be more work' 'haven't you got a telly yet?' 'was it a mistake?' and my personal favourite 'bet your dh wants you to get rid of it'. Shock

But it works really well and although I thought he was a girl, he is more convenient (IYKWIM) as a boy as he can share with dc3 (also a boy) forever if needs be.

Grow a thick skin and hold your head high - it really is a blessing. Don't get me wrong - there are times when I wonder how on earth we cope esp as dh went self employed this time last year and he's away often Mon-Fri but we do cope. All the dcs know they are loved and are such a strong unit together.

Try to get the older ones to help you so not everything is on your shoulders. Obv mine are older than some of yours but they do the packed lunches and empty the dishwasher as well as walking the dog between them. Even littlies can have a job of their own!

Congratulations everyone! Enjoy every minute.

Just had horrible scan. Embryo only measured 3 mm which makes me a week behind dates. As this one ivf my doctor not that hopeful. There was a flutter of a heartbeat. All I can do now is wait another week for a follow up scan. To be honest just want to drown my sorrows with a bucket full of wineSad
