No I'm not!

I love Esme too.

I know what you mean about family though, I am worried about our choice of names for this one (Thea and Benedict) as MIL isn't the brightest and still can't pronounce Dh's cousins' year old DD's name...Saskia! She doesn't even try and I will be even more close to wringing her neck if she keeps getting our baby's name wrong!

She says "Sarkia"...FGS!

hunkermunker · 14/12/2005 12:10

People mispronounce DS's name all the time...but what really got me was one woman who insisted on repeating it after me, wrongly, then looking at me like I was getting it wrong - eejit!

weesaidie · 14/12/2005 12:10

I like Finlay, I was going name my dd that if she had been ds! Probably would have shortened it to Finn a lot.

It means golden/white warrior I believe.

DS3 has Finlay as a middle name.
so yes, I like it

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 14/12/2005 12:23

Just to add, both my parents separately asked me if it were possible to change Finbar's name when he was born and they were told our choice of name. Err, no, we chose it, ie we like it, he didn't come out with it written on a label round his neck!

Kelly1978 · 14/12/2005 12:24

I like finlay the best, not so keen on finn or finbar. I like olivia too, and although it seems to be gettign popular I've never met one. Also like Esme.

Nobody pronounes my babies names right. I thought Ravi would be a nice easy name, but everyone says RA-vi rather than Rur-vi. Akshay causes slightly less problems.

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 14/12/2005 12:32

Finlay quite common here (Scotland) like Fraser too.

Olivia was on our short list (think it's in the top ten now) but doesn't go with our surname!

MrsSpoon · 14/12/2005 12:37

I like Finlay was on my list, think I lean slightly more towards Finn, but like both names.

OnZephyrstDayofXmas · 14/12/2005 12:37

DS is Finlay and when we chose it (only last year! ) it wasn't on any popularity lists/websites but in the last year it has jumped up to the top 100 on loads!!

He mostly gets called Fin though.

FIMBObellsFimbleAllTheWay · 14/12/2005 12:40

I love Finlay but then I am Scottish , I would have called my ds it but dh wasn't keen. My nephew is called Hamish which I wasn't sure about when he was born, but he is 10 now and plays rugby so the name really suits him.

DingDongMerrilyOnHIGHLANDER · 14/12/2005 12:47

it's rgarded as quite posh from my neck of the woods. When my sister is pretending to be a horsey mum, she'll yell, "Findlay, Farqhuar, get in the bloody Range Rover right now, we've got to go and feed the bloody gelding!!" (in a plummy voice)

bubblepop · 14/12/2005 13:15

finlay and fraser are gorgeous names, but i reckon your having a girl!so olivia it is, and thats bloomin gorgeous too!!

MIstletAOU · 14/12/2005 13:26

pmsl at your sister, highlander

Hunker, i would LURVE to know your ds's name (being the eternally nosey person that I am )

dewberry1 · 14/12/2005 13:30
