Waters have broken at 28 weeks - we're in America!

I've come over to the US for a two week holiday to my partner's family. No problems at all in this pregnancy (my first). Then yesterday morning the waters broke! I've been admitted to a local hospital and although me and baby are fine we'll be here for the duration. It's likely to be three months! Baby could come any time between now and full term so we're keeping everything crossed (including my legs of course) it stays in as long as possible. Either way we're not able to fly home for a looong time...

Our baby will be coming back to the UK an American citizen - how about that? Shock Grin Confused

Pray the insurance works out for us!!

Another lurker here - I have read the thread from start to finish and you have been wonderful, your personality and humour really shines through. I think I would have been a mad woman in your situation - you really are an inspiration. I am 25wks now and I cannot imagine my waters going in 3 weeks, let alone being in another country. My waters went at 40+2 with DD and it took her a further 2 days to arrive, that was bad enough and I was in the comfort of my own home/ local hospital!

Just want to say, the very best of luck for today. I hope to see you posting about your beautiful baby very soon.

xx

And yet another lurker here, good luck and all the best for this afternoon.

Jacksmama · 07/02/2011 15:44

Ack, southsea, what a pain to be bumped to this afternoon! Small advantage :o - I'll be able to keep up with any updates :o
Feb 7 is apparently a popular day for babies, what with the rush at your hospital ( lots of ladies keeping the cork in until after Super Bowl and then going into labour from sheer disappointment - :( sad for the Steelers). I was woken up by a text at 01:43 am this morning, from the husband of a friend I work with to let me know she was in labour. At first I was a little Hmm, who the heck would text at 01:43 but then when I saw who it was I was so excited and nervous for them I couldn't go back to sleep! It's 07:42 now and I'm missing those several hours of sleep, thinking about her and about you. I kept telling myself, nothing I can do anyway, so no point in waking DH getting on the iPhone to see if there's an update...
Crossing everything for you (except my legs!) for a fantastic birth!! Love, love, love JM

MrsChemist · 07/02/2011 15:45
