Waters have broken at 28 weeks - we're in America!

I've come over to the US for a two week holiday to my partner's family. No problems at all in this pregnancy (my first). Then yesterday morning the waters broke! I've been admitted to a local hospital and although me and baby are fine we'll be here for the duration. It's likely to be three months! Baby could come any time between now and full term so we're keeping everything crossed (including my legs of course) it stays in as long as possible. Either way we're not able to fly home for a looong time...

Our baby will be coming back to the UK an American citizen - how about that? Shock Grin Confused

Pray the insurance works out for us!!

And another lurker wishing you all the best today!

Threads like this remind me why I love mumsnet, all these women around the world going about their normal day to day business but also willing on someone they've never met on arguably the biggest day of her life. It's brilliant!

Southsearocks · 07/02/2011 13:39

34 Weeks!!! Today is the day!

Oh my goodness. It's about half seven here so I thought I'd pop on and give you a quick update and I am completely overwhelmed by your good luck messages ! I truly hadn't expected such an amazing response when I posted back in late December, and all I can say is thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and hope that can I can do you all proud in the next couple of days Grin. I've always tended to lurk on MN myself so hello to all of you! I didn't realise so many people were along for the ride, I'm just amazed.

I am scared! I can't help it. I'm going to be given cervidil sometime today to soften up the cervix but I'm waiting to see the doctor now to find out what time they will start it. I may be back to give little updates, I guess that will depend on what's happening and how I'm feeling. It sounds like it's going to take ages anyway and I've got used to writing my thoughts and feelings down, as you can tell.

Ooh, little update already! Doc has just been in. There's a rush on with a load of new ladies turning up in labour, so they will be starting this afternoon after all. Just had a bedside scan and Pebble is head down still but there is no fluid in there at all. In fact the biggest pocket of fluid was in his or her bladder (I still can't get my head around this bump = actual baby thing). DP is on his way in.

Trying deep breaths and relaxation now. Smelling the strawberry............... And blowing out the candle........... (this is what we teach the kids I work with - never thought I'd be using it myself Grin)

Xxx

Good luck southsea, you'll have your baby in your arms before you know it :)

JustKeepSwimming · 07/02/2011 13:43

Enjoy your last few hours of (relative) peace :)

Stay calm, lots of visualising the end result - have you got a little baby outfit/babygro to look at for inspiration? helped me anyway.

Good luck :)

treedelivery · 07/02/2011 13:47
