Anyone used this? I have read the book and think I can implement the plan with my 2 year old.
She is desperate to stop using nappies (tells me several times a day "no nappy" "potty")
However I need to wait til I have time to spend one on one fully focussing.
Anyway, anyone used the book with good results? Or talk to me about your younger ones who were asking to be potty trained!
I need encouragement please :)

Thanks for the reply I'll give it a go then.
Good luck Emma with your little one Flowers

Emma has to take her mum to the hospital tomorrow so she can't go back to day 1...

Emma2803 · 18/07/2017 18:41

No idea what his signal is. Apart from when we were away today for a few hours and he was in a nappy he was naked. Twice when he peed it was just after I had left the room after having put him on the potty repeatedly (and not in the potty) and a third time he had shorts on and was playing with his cousin and literally never even flinched while doing a poo or a pee!
I just put his nappy back on him. Feel like a total failure but I can't MAKE him pee when he is sitting on the potty and he was getting annoyed at me keeping asking him to sit on it.

Cutesbabasmummy · 22/07/2017 21:48

How's it going Emma? We started today. 5 pees on the floor and a poo on the floor but 2 wees on the potty. His sign is holding his bottom! Hoping it gets better!

Have just joined mumsnet to say thanks for this thred. I was googling for some advise on oh crap (my twins are on day 2)

Really great to see a positive message. Thank you 🙏 my girls keep going strength to strength. Commando from tomorrow I think if today goes as well

I know this is an old thread but wondering if anyone has any advice/experience.

We’re on day 2. My son knows when he needs to wee but goes and hides to do it rather than going to the potty. We’ve got a few wees in the potty each day, but when I physically put him there at key times like after his nap/food. Should I persevere and does this count as completing block 1 or should we keep going with the naked practice?

ClairParavel · 16/10/2019 12:54

Hi Harriet. I’m on day 3. I would preserve. DD is pretty good at going when naked but totally regresses when going commando unless she’s in a dress- loose shorts and trousers still lead to accidents. I’ve no idea what to do re nursery tomorrow but at home I’m persevering with the naked. For how long I’m not sure- I need go back reread the first chapters..
Unless have you tried him on toilet? Maybe he just doesn’t like potty?

HarrietM87 · 16/10/2019 13:29

Hi @ClairParavel thanks for the reply and solidarity for the process! Haven’t tried him on the toilet yet but don’t think he’d like it. We had a breakthrough earlier as he actually told me he needed a wee (wasn’t expecting him to be able to do that this early) but then we tried him commando on a short trip out and had 3 accidents (having refused to go on the potty before we left). I think he needs more naked practice too.

ClairParavel · 16/10/2019 14:04

It’s frustrating isn’t it! I haven’t been out yet mainly as I know I can’t take her out naked but I’ll just have to stick bottoms on her, remind her to go potty and take spare clothes.....fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you’re getting on!

HarrietM87 · 17/10/2019 13:26

Update on day 4: 6 wees in the potty and no accidents! For 3 of the wees he told me he needed to sit on the potty, for the other 3 I recognised the signs and put him on it. He’s still naked from the waist down - might try commando at home tomorrow and then aim to go out at the weekend.

It’s going to take him a little longer than the 3-7 days Oh Crap recommends as he’s young - does anyone have any thoughts on how to do it more gradually? Would it be bad to put a nappy on over some underpants so he feels wet but it doesn’t cause an accident?

ClairParavel · 18/10/2019 10:33

That’s great progress! We had a good day at nursery too, was convinced she wasn’t able to realise she needed a wee when going commando but she stayed dry all day and was asking to go potty by the end of the day! And then came home and wet herself, I think in sheer excitement that my DH was there (hasn’t seen him in a few days).

I think it will just take some kids longer than others and there will be accidents every so often for a while. We are now on day 6 and I know she can do it but she does get distracted. In all honesty I would put a nappy on over underpants- if anything like my DD, it will give a sense of security that they can just go wherever.

ClairParavel · 18/10/2019 10:33

I wouldn’t that was meant to say
