Anyone used this? I have read the book and think I can implement the plan with my 2 year old.
She is desperate to stop using nappies (tells me several times a day "no nappy" "potty")
However I need to wait til I have time to spend one on one fully focussing.
Anyway, anyone used the book with good results? Or talk to me about your younger ones who were asking to be potty trained!
I need encouragement please :)

And good luck for baby 2! Grin

Cutesbabasmummy · 05/07/2017 15:06

I downloaded it yesterday. I thought my DS at 2,5 yrs wasn't ready but once I finished the whole book I'm going to give it a whirl!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 06/07/2017 07:48

Good luck Cute! Smile

Cutesbabasmummy · 06/07/2017 09:25

teaandbiscuitsforme thanks! Hoping to try it in a couple of weeks but might need to book two days off work as I'm nit sure he can go top nursery without anything on his bottom half!!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 06/07/2017 16:34

I like the sound of this but I'm worried DS would get cabin fever stuck in our little house with just me for a few days. We don't have a garden and I can't really take him out with nothing on! We usually go out a lot and do different activities, has anyone tried this with no garden to run about in?

teaandbiscuitsforme · 06/07/2017 19:05

Spike You probably won't need to be in the house for more than one day. By day 2 I was taking my DD out for a walk or ride on her bike or something. We weren't out for ages but we certainly didn't stay in the whole time! Then I think we went for a quick supermarket trip on day 3, and then pretty much back to normal.

My DD hates being in the house too but the first day really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 06/07/2017 19:07

Cute Nursery would probably be a bit Confused! I started with DD when her nursery was off for a week but she was absolutely fine by the time she went the next week.

TuckMyWin · 06/07/2017 19:22

Worked like a dream for us too. I'm not using it for night training though as the couple of times I've tried lifting at bedtime he's produced nothing, and having only just stopped night feeds (mostly) for his younger brother I'm not up for setting my alarm to lift him after I go to sleep! Will wait for nights to happen naturally I think.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 06/07/2017 19:45

Tuck I'm contemplating nights now. DD's nappy is dry every morning, has been for a couple of months now, but I just don't want to have to deal with any accidents! I'm up with 6mo DS so I should probably just do it!

TuckMyWin · 06/07/2017 19:57

Yeah, ds's isn't even remotely dry in the morning. Although I have a sneaking suspicion he might just be doing his first morning wee there. He often does his morning poo in his nappy too though, so I'm going to need to be properly up for tackling that one, and I'm still suffering too much residual sleep deprivation from ds2 to face it right now!!

Emma2803 · 17/07/2017 16:03

Mid way through day one. Have had several accidents and no pees in the potty yet BUT he is trying and will sit on the potty when I suggest. I think he doesn't know how to make himself pee if that makes sense? He seems to do it when he gets distracted like he is relaxing and then it comes out. And he is telling me I did a piddly. Still feeling very positive about it though as he was refusing to sit on the potty a few weeks ago.
We are also reading pirate petes potty.
Will try another day of naked bum tomorrow I think.
And the great weather helps cos we can play outside!

Nan0second · 17/07/2017 16:06

Keep going Emma! He can get this - just keep going with that naked bum consistently :)

Try and get his signals as per the book and lift and run to the potty as soon as he starts. :)

Emma2803 I am starting next week! I have lots of carpet cleaner ready...

Emma2803 · 17/07/2017 17:06

He is currently sitting on his potty watching Peppa pig!! He hasn't done a pee since 12 including a 2.5 hr sleep!!
He seems to stop peeing when you lift him! 🙈 bur we will get there!!

Emma2803 · 17/07/2017 17:57

We've just had half a piddle in the potty!!! Grin

Nan0second · 17/07/2017 21:21

Yippee!!
Keep going :)

Thank you!! Three so far!! Such a proud mummy! Lol. Just have to persevere.
Have to take my mum and brother to a hospital appointment tomorrow, (half hour drive so not too far) should I just pack lots of trousers and bring the potty with me instead of going back to the nappy?

Mamabear468 · 17/07/2017 22:39

Is this book any good if the child is older than the 20-30month guidelines? My DD turns 3 next month but doesn't talk much so I'm only just thinking about potty training

Nan0second · 18/07/2017 06:11

Emma: well done both of you!! Keep going :)
you could put a nappy on in the car especially if you think he may fall asleep in it.
We never went back to a nappy at all, even when tempted!
However, main thing is being relaxed and consistent so do whatever you need to do to get them to hospital.
Mama: I think the techniques will work on an older child just as well so I would go for it!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 18/07/2017 07:47

Mama if I remember rightly, there's a chapter on using the techniques with older children

Emma listening for the wee worked well with my DD to help her to release. And making a big deal of listening to my wee when she inevitably came with me to the toilet! Grin

teaandbiscuitsforme · 18/07/2017 07:50

Emma About going to the hospital, I'd avoid a nappy completely if you're feeling brave! (on potty before you get in the car and when you get there) If you want to put a nappy on, make sure you still go to the toilet when you're there and start again when you get home. But it may be like starting all over again?

Cutesbabasmummy · 18/07/2017 09:09

Ok some advice - my son has swimming lessons on a Saturday morning and they have to wear a disposable nappy and a neoprene nappy even when potty trained until they are 4 I think. The lessons are expensive at £16.50 a pop and you don't get a refund if you don't turn up. I am starting potty training on Saturday so we will miss this one but how about next week? Is it ok to take him if he's getting the hang of training?

Emma2803 · 18/07/2017 15:54

I'm finding this really hard, ds will just not pee on the potty for me. I can get him to sit on it but he won't do anything. He seems to be able to hold his pee for ages. I told him to sit on the potty and I went to get his shoes and when I came back nothing in the potty but 10 mins later I found a pee on the sofa cushion! 😭

teaandbiscuitsforme · 18/07/2017 16:58

Oh no, have you figured out what his signal is yet? My DD used to stand very still, but just for a second! Really tricky to spot! Have you kept him naked today?

If you can, maybe go back as if its day 1 tomorrow? Don't do anything but watch him and move?

Flowers and Cake!
