Just wondering if anyone else is planning on using the Easter break to try and potty train DC?

Ds is 2.5 and has shown a few signs of readiness although as a very active boy he is not keen on sitting still on the potty! I have 6 days off work though so I feel like we should try and he was very keen to choose a potty and 'big boy' Fireman Sam pants.

I am planning on staying at home for the first few days and have stocked up with:

  • Pants in a larger size
  • 2 potties 1 upstairs 1 down
  • Antibacterial spray
-1001 carpet cleaner Grin
  • Chocolate buttons for bribery
  • Sticker chart
  • Wine for me Grin

I have got pull ups for going out but hoping to crack it at home first.

Haven't bought a travel potty, is this essential?

Would love to hear from anyone else about to embark on potty training!

Bugger. She's just weed on my shoe. That'll teach me for leaving them around...

We are still going! We have had 3 poos on the potty 4 wees on the potty, 1 wee on the carpet and 1 wee on the sofa! Pretty proud all in all although she's needed lot of encouragement and chocolate buttons and she definitely withholds wees.were both exhausted but I think we are off! Helps that dh is home to help SmileSmile

We're close to giving up too. I don't know why but she's just refusing to cooperate. She's 3 so she should be ready, I don't know why but she just keeps weeing in her pants. Won't go on potty. Doesn't respond to bribery. She holds in the wee while sitting on the potty (if we can get her on it) then when she gets off & does a massive wee on the carpet. Then asks for a chocolate button.

Hi, joining late but we are having the same as you, Telephone. DD is 2.5 and has to be coaxed onto the potty, then sits for ages with no result. She then does a wee five minutes later. Was really hoping to get it done this week while DH is off work, but looks unlikely now Hmm. We will try for another day or two but may end up leaving it til summer holidays.

Hi - we started with DS on Saturday PM after guests had left. Making slow progress, he doesn't seem to be too aware of when a wee is going to happen but is mainly happy to sit on the potty.

We had a tonne of accidents on Sat PM and Sunday but yesterday was much better. We did sit him on the potty a lot though and then we were out in the garden and had no bottoms on at all. I think it's a case of him tuning into it. He's now able to turn it on, IYKWIM and wee on the potty.

He's at nursery today so will see how that goes. I took all trousers and shorts that he owns in this morning and hope it's enough.

After an hour on the potty we just had our first wee in it. Phew! Chocs away...

Day 3 and at nursery, just 2 accidents which is pretty good compared progress. Feeling positive

Hi, we started on Good Friday. Ds is 2.5. Success rate has been about 50/50. I'm not sure weather to persevere or leave it for a bit longer? He's aware when he's going and really hates the feel of wet trousers and gets very upset when he has an accident, even though we've never made a big deal of it and have never told him off etc. when he has gone on the potty (wee and poo) he's been very pleased with himself and loves choosing stickers for his chart. any thoughts?

slightlyconfused85 · 09/04/2015 20:39

Pandas I would keep going, he sounds like he's doing quite well Especially if he's enjoying the rewards! dd is doing well with wees, she had no accidents today and most of the wees were on the toilet Smile she finds pops really stressful though and is withholding them till her night nappy is on. Halfway there!

Commiserations to those of you who aren't having any luck.

We are done I think! No nappies except at nap time and one accident today and one yesterday, both when we were overdue offering the potty, and when out and about.
Clever girl.
