Winky?
Pip?
Privates?
Bit?

BabyStone · 11/07/2013 17:13

I used to call mine Minnie, my friend called hers sally! No idea why. I've heard people call theirs "noonie". I know a 4 year old that calls hers "lady bits"

PoppyAmex · 11/07/2013 17:14

I'm marking place, as I have no idea either.

All the words used in the UK are either twee/naff or crude and I don't like any.

Been calling it "front-bottom" but she's a bit young yet so I have a few months to figure this out.

mynameisslimshady · 11/07/2013 17:16

Why not just use the actual name? Vulva, vagina, penis, testicles etc aren't dirty words, I don't understand why peopke don't use them.

chilipeppers · 11/07/2013 17:20

Poppyamex I'm am totally with you! I used to call my front bum too! I'm just not a mini or noonie person! I'm thinking of just going with what it is a vagina?!

Vulva, vagina, urethra.

chilipeppers · 11/07/2013 17:22

Is fanny to much??

OP posts:
BabyStone · 11/07/2013 17:23

I have never heard a child refer to their privates as the actual name. I've heard boys refer to it as their Willy but never penis. I have never heard an adult call it a vulva either. Even my community midwife didn't say vagina, she called it a fanny, which I hate! no idea why people prefer children to call it a nickname. I have a female relative who used to say "fairy" for a vagina

valiumredhead · 11/07/2013 17:24

Only on MN do people use correct terms Wink

I would go for 'privates.'

BonzoDooDah · 11/07/2013 17:24

Fanny ... bring back fanny is my campaign. Everyone knows what it is and it's not excruciatingly twee. Exactly like when a boy says Willy. I think it should be the same.
My 5 yo DD has recently shortened it to 'fan' which is close enough to fanjo to make me smile.

Rummikub · 11/07/2013 17:27

We went with bits because anyone would understand what was being referred to. Also, bits kind of indicates that it's not one part but made of many. And it's a word that grows up with you in case a teenage dd needed to go to doctor. Hope all that makes sense! My dd knows the correct words too for each part. I wanted to use fanny but my friends said no!

EuroShopperEnergyDrink · 11/07/2013 17:31

Front bottom is awful. Why would you want to associate her vulva with something that we poo out of?

Privates is fine, because that's what they are.

Have also heard vulvie and gina before which is a cutesy spin on actual terms. Flower and tuppence and mini make want to vomit!

SupermansBigRedPants · 11/07/2013 17:34

Dd is 8 and has always called it jina, ds is 20 months and calls his bits penis and balls/testicles.

Mine was fanny/cookie when I was a bairn :)

Ra88 · 11/07/2013 17:38

my dd calls it her "lady" this is from my sil as I used to call it fanny and its a vile word ha

Rummikub · 11/07/2013 17:39

bonzo I'll join the fanny campaign! I didn't go with front bottom because it isn't. It needed a specific name that dd coud use anywhere without feeling shame.

Couldnt use tuppence, makes me sick! I liked gina but not many people would realise what it was. I felt it was important to have an easily recognised name. Privates is ok although a boy could use privates and willy so felt dd needed a special name too. Can you tell I carried out extensive discussions about this?!

PoppyAmex · 11/07/2013 18:16

Yes, front bottom is indeed horrid but to be fair none of the alternatives so far are exactly stellar.

In my native language, little girls called it their "Pipi" but that could sound confusing in English, wouldn't it?

chilipeppers · 11/07/2013 18:33

Thanks some interesting and amusing names! Think fanny may be the winner!!

Rummikub · 11/07/2013 19:05

chili what word do use yourself if say at the doctors? Actually thinking about it I think I might have said 'down there' when I needed to talk to my doc Blush. Maybe we all should re claim fanny and use at every opportunity??

chilipeppers · 11/07/2013 20:34

Haha I may just do that starting tonight!

It's ur foof or fooey in our house!

Rummikub · 11/07/2013 21:24

Asked my dd, most girls and boys in her class say vagina. I was impressed! Some say bits or privates. Asked about fanny which was met with Shock.

PoppyAmex · 11/07/2013 21:59

Fanny is just horrible.

SupermansBigRedPants · 11/07/2013 22:14

I got in trouble for saying fanny when I was wee - it's 'common' and 'crude' - I don't think it is common as such but it is crude, dd isn't allowed to say it. It's vulgar to my wee delicate ears Wink
