Exclusively breastfeeding mamas

How soon after giving birth did you get your first period? Just wondering as I'm 9 weeks postpartum and haven't gotten mine yet, just a bit of light spotting for a few days the other week. I've read that it can take longer for exclusively breastfeeding mamas to get their first period as baby's sucking motion sends a signal which halts ovulation?

Had one short period about 6 months pp- and then nothing until 18 months.
He’s now 2, still breastfeeding, and I have a period approx every 6 weeks (compared to my cycle before baby, which was a tragic 23 days) 🤷🏼‍♀️

DC1 14 months. Night weaned around 10 months but it only returned when I stopped expressing at work.

DC2 8 months so far hasn't shown but I started the Pill this month.

Ds2 is nearly 7 months and still nothing. Nothing to compare to as ds1 was ff

Mine came back almost exactly a year after my daughter was born. I was quite happy not to have to worry about them with everything else going on! Just bear in mind that even if your period hasn't come back, it's not a guarantee that you can't get pregnant again. So if you do decide to start having sex again, it's best to use some other form of contraception if you're not ready for another baby!

Fishywishyhead · 25/07/2018 09:26

9 weeks with my first, 8 months with my second and 21 bastard days with my third. None of them ever had a bottle.

4 weeks exactly after I stopped bleeding after the birth. Felt utterly cheated! Ebf dd to 6 months and still feeding now at 19 months.

Jestem · 25/07/2018 09:28

15 months with my last baby!

SwimSwim · 25/07/2018 10:02

4 months! I was EBF until DD was 6 months and still BF now she's 19 months. I fed on demand too and some of the cluster feeding was intense, but I still got AF back 4 months post birth.

Ratbagratty · 25/07/2018 10:03

5 months with dd1, still waiting after dd2 at 6mnths.... (although I'm dreading it coming back).

Cheekyandfreaky · 25/07/2018 10:04

Nearly 9 months on, Dd earring solids really well and nothing yet!

Xjo1992x · 28/07/2018 19:19

I'm exclusively bf, 11 weeks pp, no period yet!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 12/08/2018 21:53

11 months with DD, 9 months with DS. Sta

Harebellmeadow · 15/08/2018 22:43

10 months, once she started eating more than a few bites of food (BL weaning) plus this was after a period of immense stress with very painful teething. I think the stress contributed.

Thissameearth · 15/08/2018 22:46

Between 8 and 9 months. Only had my second period this month, which is about 6 weeks after my first one so not back to “normal” yet.

singlemamalove · 17/08/2018 12:56

17 months and still waiting Smile

NuffingChora · 17/08/2018 13:00

Reiterating above advice not to rely on contraceptive effect of bf, even if doing so exclusively, as it’s by no means a given. For what it’s worth, I fed for 16 months and period returned exactly a month after stopping.

thismeansnothing · 17/08/2018 13:04

Stopped by at 8 months. Af returned 4 months later
