Lenni sounds more than fair enough for DP to work some childcare hours to make up... shifts sound tough, especially until 3am?! And nursery sounds like a good idea for DD if it gives you a bit of a break - and fun for her too I'm sure. I can't wait to get Nye into nursery - how old can they start?! Just kidding really, but will def be pleased when the time comes - I think here in Wales we get 3 free mornings a week from the term after they turn 3. So a long time to wait...

tink hope Bracken settles back down soon after the injections. Nye has had mildly snuffly nose for over 2 weeks now - started straight after his first injections - I wonder if there is a link? Would take him to the GP but I know they won't do anything... doesn't seem to be causing him any bother, but you can hear him snuffling, and sometimes I get to excavate gently extract bogeys with a q-tip .

LenniEd · 18/04/2009 20:19

Thanks MissJ - I think I've been a bit unfair on him today though he does work very hard. Bloody recession is what's done it, before that it was relatively easy for us to take the odd day off and we could afford to pay to get jobs done. Must remind myself that it won't last forever.

I do the q-tip thing too be careful though, I once got distracted and gave DD a nosebleed when she was a babe! Rolled up corner of a tissue is a gentler method, nowhere near as effective though

I'd love to send DD to nursery in some ways, but when I think about it in earnest my heart breaks at the thought. Not because I have anything against nurseries but because she is a shy little soul when she's around strangers, but such a bouncy lively creature when she's with kids and adults she knows. I know she'd find it really hard at first and I'm not sure I could do it to her.

Tink - I also am struggling with getting DS back on track after his injections on Thurs although I think it is a growth spurt doing him as much as the jabs. They do seem to knock them about tho. Fab of you to give up your room for your DCs, those girls get treated don't they? Hope you're going to do up the study nicely for yourselves since you went to town on your DD's room.

Big news.................................

Harriet has had a poo and is asleep. Bloody marvellous. She look slik ecrap bless her, pale and red eyed.
So mum might get lucky tomorrow with her childcare timing - I'm assuming Hatts will be more inclined to a bottle if she isn't in pain. poor mite.

Tink - injections for us Monday. I posponed Friday as she was too miserable with her tummy trials. Hope Bracken settles soon.

LenniEd - you may have been unfair [or may not] but either way a off load of stress is sometimes required I think.

stripeywoollenhat · 18/04/2009 20:56

missj, lenni - i have some q-tips which are designed for babies, they are shaped so that they can't go in too far.

lenni - sounds like you have a lot of pressure, bound to lose it slightly from time to time and you also deserve some time off, so don't eat too much humble pie

tree, hurrah! hope poor girl gets some rest, and you

OP posts:
LenniEd · 18/04/2009 20:59

Stripey - are you really hungry? I am ravenous and drinking litres of water and still really thirsty. I have eaten so much today I couldn't even begin to list it I'm going on MM's refined sugar detox on Monday.

Tree - yay!

fymmumoftwo · 18/04/2009 21:07

agghhhhhh just had an awful evening with my parents - they had a row with my DH about discipline.... DS1 tantrumming badly, DH sorting him out and my parents acting like DS1 was being mistreated

DH was doing just fine and parents stormed out.... they're never normally like that...

lenni - starving. it's ridiculous. had dinner, followed by bread and butter (dairy thing gone by board but it's not affecting her - hurrah!) and am now considering chocolate ice cream... a sugar detox sounds about right... c was going 45 mins between feeds for most of today - happily, she puts it on hold and sleeps at night (will have two feeds between now and morning probably, if the last two days are anything to go by).

fym - crap. hope it blows over.

am going to start mum and baby pilates next week in an attempt to haul my body back together. never done pilates before and am a bit worried about possible humiliation but something has to be done

we'll see how good i am when it's time for the second class . did a pre-natal weekend workshop at the place which runs the pilates course and the people who run it are very nice. but the pre-natal workshop didn't involve anything too physical so it remains to be seen whether my lack of co-ordination reduces thme all to tears of laughter or not. (i was the girl who smoked behind the hockey shed instead of going to pe class at school...)

and now for that chocolate ice cream

OP posts:
LenniEd · 18/04/2009 21:45

FYM - also hope it blows over. Very odd though, really isn't their place to get annoyed iyswim, but hopefully will all be forgotten soon.

Stripey - phew! Thought I was just being a glutton. I have had tea with DD at 6pm and feel like I've not eaten now. And I've eaten a brownie since then. Had soup and a big slice of cake that my Mum brought up on Thurs for lunch and I've had chocolate... omg I really have eaten absolutely loads today! And I'm ravenous now, I am having to avoid the kitchen to stop myself from eating! Madness.

Yes, something has to be done here too... not sure what though... hmmm, more cake anyone??

No seriously, going to get my rather large behind on the wii fit in the minute. Just cutting and pasting a few of my posts off the AN threads though for DS's baby book. I need to get a life!

stripeywoollenhat · 18/04/2009 22:07

good idea re the AN thread, lenni. i've been thinking of doing a photo book over the first year of her life - a picture for every week and a paragraph about what she was doing. think it would be nice for her when she is older - nice for me as well

OP posts:
LenniEd · 18/04/2009 22:18

That is a wonderful idea Stripey - and yes, will be nice for you. I still look at DD's baby book quite regularly. Ds's looking decidedly sparse by comparison, working on it though!

I'm up to here in the AN thread. You've had a scan, MM just had a scare, Elk is a primagravida (or something similar) Mum, MissJ is very very very excited at being pregnant (how quickly we all forgot the enthusiasm!) and Tink is constipated but craving salad cream which there is some debate about whether it is ok to eat or not. And I've just written to my MP about having to pay for a nuchal scan - I was even less bearable when pregnant it appears! Oh and we're all desperate for a scan, except for FYM who has told a white lie to get an early one and everything is ok - fab news. Oh, except we know everything is ok now don't we! Hee, hee - love reading these threads....

wii fit cancelled...

stripeywoollenhat · 18/04/2009 22:46

feeling quite nostalgic now.... but also exceedingly glad not to be pregnant

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 18/04/2009 23:33

me too- I hate being pg... I miss the kicks occasionally though.

well, like rray we have abandoned swaddling and gone for sleeping bag for first night.... took him a while to drop off, but he has been soundly asleep since 8.

I was back to my booking weight 3 weeks ago.... but I was heavier at booking than I would like by a long way- I lost all dd's baby weight, but put it back on when I went back to work

sugar detox sounds completely impossible atm though. Am craving chocolate all the time... its not good! Think my milk must taste of chocolate tbh

elkiedee · 19/04/2009 01:25

Laughing nostalgically at the thought of reading back over the antenatal threads.

I was lighter immediately after ds1 was born than at booking weight but I only put on 4 lb in that pregnancy. I gained much more this time round because I was less sick/ate much more, but I don't know what I weighed at the end of pregnancy or now as the scales had got buried under lots of junk and now seem to have vanished completely. Maybe I'll get another cheap set to find out and then get rid of them when the truth gets too depressing!

chefswife · 19/04/2009 02:34

stripey pilates is great. i've been doing them regularly till i gave birth but swear by them. but, be prepared to pass gas. sometimes it can happen but tis a good thing... well unless its reallllly smelly then god help everyone.

i started back running this week and went three times and did a weight workout today. however, and its a big however, i've eaten 4 peanut butter cookies, 2 oatmeal and cherry cookies right after two homemade chicken sausages on buns. ooohhh they were good. it all was good.

we tried mango today and DD loved it. i was eating my mango and she was looking at it grabbing at my arm. (she was sitting on my lap on the floor.) so i took some and mushed it between my fingers and gave it to her. i think she even sort of giggled. i did it three more times and each time, she went for it. awesome!

elkiedee at you only gaining 4 lbs!

fymmumoftwo · 19/04/2009 07:31

morning all - dog - no they are not normally like that we're close and no problems usually.

and Lenni they do look after DS1 and have done since he was 6 months old and looking after him full time before DS2 arrived with my business being so busy but you're right - not their business....

Not really sure what was going on - dad's in his late 60's and has been a bit tetchy recently, very intolerant and has thrown 'toys out of pram' a couple of times really not like him IYSWIM. I'm wondering if old age is striking?

well, all you with weighty issues, I weighed and worked out my BMI yesterday and am 3 stone overweight and officially 'obese' you can tell my day was good yesterday , mind you only 1 stone is baby weight, but it's all got to go. I'm eating far too much.

fymmumoftwo · 19/04/2009 07:35

my goodness chef weaning already! doesn't time fly...

I was just reading a bit about baby led weaning as am going to do it this time....

we did best for the girls!
atlanta didnt like sharing with bracken and we have no room to move

missjackson · 19/04/2009 12:11

Lenni Book is such a lovely idea - and must be so funny to read the ante-natal threads! Gosh, was I really very, VERY excited?!

ray hope you have a nice time at your parents - I think Nye is on a growth spurt too as lots of feeding and sleeping past 2 days. Yey for lots of sleeping though!

stripey fingers crossed it turns up soon. Reminds me I must back stuff up - if my computer crashed now I would lose all of Nye's photos. Scary thought.

chefswife feel tired out just reading about your running! Am going horse riding this afternoon though, so looking forward to that.

dog sounds like lovely day. Sunny and beautiful here too.

periods am bleeding! since yesterday, very very lightly. Could this be the return of my period? Gutted if so... have been taking the mini-pill for a week so maybe that? Already forgot one day! Crap.
