Lilyloo - sorry things are tough ATM. I think all you can do is listen to him and he sends out his CV.

Also make sure he relaxes at weekends ie in summertime picnics/footie with Dcs etc. I know how stressful it can be ((hugs)) DH had to step down at work as he found it too much and without my parents giving me some money each month we wouldn't cope. Am a bit at taking money off them at my age but have no choice as DH health more important iyswim.

If DP does get too depressed is worth going to see GP they can be fab.

On the kitchen front I have got one similar in attic from The Entertainer for DD's 2nd birthday or Xmas Its a bit too pink for my liking but only cost £17. {Reduced from £50)

Ange - glad you had a good day. at 28lbs. DD is just over 18!! She does look tiny though and everyone who meets her thinks she is about 9mths.

DD also got a ride on toy (from my dad) which DS wants to "borrow"

Am waiting for the fussy stage to hit here but so far the only thing she doesn't like is pasta..

Lilyloo · 29/01/2009 22:30

Does ds still use his wheelybug ??

OP posts:
simpson · 29/01/2009 22:33

He does and he loves it but is going through an awful stage of wanting whatever Molly is playing with and then saying to me "mummy DD won't share!!"

Is doing my head in!!

Molly was playing with her ELC drum today and loving it and DS takes it off her saying its his turn. When DD plays with his toys I am on at him to share with her, I guess he just expects it back the other way. Grrr.

madmouse · 29/01/2009 22:36

Lily I think it is all of the things you mentioned, it certainly is enough to stress someone out. All you can do is listen to dp and be as understanding as you can. Encourage him to do something active, a walk or run or swim or whatever.

Nathan has already woken up screaming 3 times he was so happy all day! Have just given him his second half spoon of calpol. He was chewing his fingers earlier and now he was doing something with his tongue and kind of chewing I think it is the top tooth breaking through the skin now, or it may be indigestion the way he is eating lol. Hope it does not last all night, help I am already used to 8-8!

Lilyloo · 29/01/2009 22:39

Thanks all guess there no answer really just tough times!!

Simps just wait until they argue from non until night , i just glad now when dd1 and ds have a pleasant word to say to one another. Drives me mad!!! Suppose at least they don't fight (as same sex do) but the arguing is relentless!!

Poor M sits there bewildered.

Morning
DS2 got me up at 5am, again.
And it's always when DH isn't here

This time he woke ds1 too but have hopefully persuaded him it's the middle of the night....

H now lying on the floor cuddling his blanket
i was trying to shush him upstairs and he just kept repeating shhh at me - cheeky monkey.

The layout of the page has gone all funny (anyone else?) so it's doing my head in - i kept my view as 'classic' i think and now the fonts have changed...

Lily - it does sound like the best thing for him is to change tbh. DH had a job abroad for a year (in Botswana) and i loved living out there (grew up in various African countries) but he hated the job. He got made redundant anyway after a year and he was so pleased. (we had 4 weeks notice to leave so i was not quite as positive about it as him!).
Obv that was before we had DCs though.

If he can find something else then i would say go for it.
Big if though atm.
Are there specific things that P him off? people? systems? could he change any of it himself?

Madmouse - hope Nathan stayed asleep for you.

Lucky - will go and look at pics in a mo

Simpson - T is the same, always wants/snatches whatever H is playing with. oh well.
And something from Ireland wow!

Ange - Alek sounds so grown up already!!

Lily reminds me i must get on with Ebay stuff at some point. have a box of stuff that can go - one way or another.

Don't know what will happen nap-wise with H today....we will make playgroup if only for my sanity!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 30/01/2009 09:39

Morning ladies,

Lily - sorry about the job situation. I guess he at least has a career path but the current climate is a worry. I have always been unhappy with jobs thats why i temped for so long, but obv that isnt very secure esp at the moment. but i really enjoyed it.

I am hoping to firstly either do home study a levels as i dropped out of college or go back and do an access course and then would like to do a history degree and go into teaching. I had always since i set foot in secondary school wanted to be a languages teacher but i couldnt do a language degree as with dh and the dc i couldnt spend the time abroad that is required, however i started a french course in sept and it is free as one of the secondary schools near me is a lnaguage college and will carry on with this until i get to a really decent level and then go back to spanish so that i might still be able to get involved in languages when the opportunity of a job arises.

I actually had a hospital appointment before summer and i was talking to a lovely old lady and we were talking about books as i was reading anna karenina at the time and she asked me if i went to uni and i said no and i always feel bad when i say no as i feel that i am capable... and she bless her said "you really ought to have, you are clearly very intelligent" and i just thought yes i will... i was always ex[ected to go allthru school and done well and enjoyed learning and i really regret not doing it but i feel that where my friends all went down the traditional route and done ok that i am in the frame of mind as an adult to do my very best.

Have waffled again.

madmouse - i agree that whilst it was all so stressful this time last year Nathan has come on so much and your dedication and committment have been amazing a true inspiration... nathan will be so proud to have parents like you.

simpson · 30/01/2009 10:58

Oooh what's happened to MN...

JKS - I have mine in the classic mode too and the fonts look different.

DD is a little whingebag this morning and has gone up for a nap already.

In the post this morning have got a letter cancelling DS's hosp appt for Monday. When I rang to query this the lady said its not cancelled you are seeing a different person.

But the letter says its cancelled, hope I don't have hassle when I get there

Also DS has been offered a full time school place in his first choice place from Sept. Am a bit worried about him as he will be the youngest being an August baby...but pleased we got the school we wanted

mixedmamameansbusiness · 30/01/2009 11:03

thats brilliant simpson... i am an august baby and i never ever noticed the difference and wasnt even aware of it until i became an adult and discovered mn... in fact i was generally always top of the class... is he a leo?

fingers xed you dont have any problem at the hospital.

simpson · 30/01/2009 11:10

Ds's birthday is the cut off so if he was a day younger he would be starting school Sept 2010

He is a virgo (I think )

The only thing that concerns me is he does still struggle with just doing afternoons ie very ratty when he comes home, over tired etc.

But academically/socially think it will do him good as he makes friends easily and is bright.

When he starts school he will be 4yrs and 2 weeks

madmouse · 30/01/2009 11:28

simpson the way they do it is they cancel your appointment with X then make a new one with Z and the letter wont reach you until after the appointment. Believe me I know

Nathan woke a few more times crying and when I put my hand on his tummy his bowels felt like popping bubbles. Definitely eaten too much lol. Was awake 6.30 with me, poor dh I tried to settle him then chucked him in bed with dh

Ange and Mixedmama thanks for your kind words, but I am among friends here so I am going to say it: I do not want to celebrate how amazing he has done. I want him to crawl, sit himself up, cruise and take his first steps. Like..now. Oh and a reasonable guarantee that he will not get epilepsy .

Gingeme · 30/01/2009 12:48

Mmmm not sure about this new layout
Simpson ds2 is and August baby (ha ha baby he's 13) and is the youngest in his class but he has no problems, he is a Leo too.
mm I just love French. I wish I had taken it as a gcse at school but there was onlt about 4 out of our class that bothered with it. The rest of the class just messed about the whole lesson
JKS George woke at 5 this morning. I gave him a bottle and changed his bum and put him back i his cot. He sat chatting and playing for about half hour then went back to sleep only to be woken again at 7 by ds3 nd ds4 shouting 'its morning time' 'breakfast time now!' at the top of their voices
I have an appt for Georges jabs on the 10th Feb. DH is off so hell be able to look after sd3 while I take him.
I have ds3's assembly to look forward to this afternoon. They are doing The Veyr Hungry Caterpillar. He is being a butterfly

Lilyloo · 30/01/2009 13:53

ooh don't like it
feel all disorientated !!!

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 30/01/2009 14:13

I don't like it but I'm sure when I get used to it it'll be ok - like the new facebook layout. Took a while but now is ok.

MM - Feel free to have ideas like that as much as you want. I can imagine its very frustrating but also so rewarding when he does get to those points.

Lily - I hope you DH's work isn't too bad for him, all you can do is be there for him. Although MM's suggestion about going and doing something for him would be good too.

Well we went to Toddlers group this morning (1-3yr olds) and OMG!! It was just sooo noisy and so caotic (sp) and poor old DD got bullied abit. Everytime she tried to play with something one of the kids kept taking it off so she'd find something else and the same damn kid took that too. In the end I went and sat in the corner with her by the toy kitchen and we played with that while I looked after my pfb "supervised"

simpson · 30/01/2009 14:44

JKS - if you go into customise MN and select classic then it should make font bigger.

Even if you had it set to classic look before do it again iyswim.

The only thing bugging me is if you click on a thread it doesn't then go purple so you know you've been on it before....

DS fell over on the way to school today A car alarm went off right next to us which made him jump and then he lost his balance and fell. He sobbed the rest of the way there and was clinging to my leg when I had to leave

DD is currently causing chaos playing by herself...wonder how long that will last!!

Also one of the worlds little mysteries...why oh why do LOs wait till they have had a clean nappy on for about 3mins before doing poo??

LuckySalem · 30/01/2009 14:52

Oh simps - DD is BRILLIANT at this. EVERY morning!! Without fail

simpson · 30/01/2009 14:57

This poo no.3 today and every time has been within seconds of having a clean nappy. I

I kid you not...she is costing me a small fortune

madmouse · 30/01/2009 15:50

hey do you like using a dirty toilet? pmsl

Nathan used to do the same but as befits a boy who likes to be dirty he has stopped bothering

LuckySalem · 30/01/2009 15:59

Grrr MEN!!

Left DP a list of scrap yard's phone numbers to see if he could get someone to pick his old car up (been sitting on the yard for 3 years now) so when I asked him if he'd rang he said "yeh but they'll charge me to come pick it up and I want some money for it"

So I said ok, i'll look for some other phone numbers. Just rang them myself and not only will they pick it up for free but he may get £60 for it!! MEN lol

Now I gotta find his V5 for it -

Gingeme · 30/01/2009 16:02

I'm still trying to work that one out too Simpson.
Went to ds3's assembly. Oh it was lovely took George in my patapum sling. Thought it would save space. Havn't used it for a while. Boy is he heavy I took my camera because DH is at work, turned it on and the bloody batteries run out I nearly swore then realised I was in a hall full of school kids
What has everyone planned for the weekend? We are going to my sisters tommorrow. It was my neices 16th birthday on Wednesday so were taking her presant. Apart from that not alot else.

AngeChica · 30/01/2009 17:20

Oh dear Madmouse, so sorry to do the annoying "glad game" on you (from Pollyanna, what a nauseating book).

It's not to deny the reality of Nathan's CP or the frustrations and challenges of dealing with it. It may be dodgy moral ground here, & maybe celebrate is not the right word, but probably what I was getting at is to give thanks that the outcomes you feared did not materialise.... and I'm sure you do that anyway. I'll shut up now ....

JustKeepSwimming · 30/01/2009 17:37

Hi all

Was trying to use MN Classic but couldn't get my head round it. anyway am now using MN New (i think!) which is OK, but still some problems. ah well, sure it will settle down soon....

G - glad assembly went well. bad luck re camera!

Madmouse - allow yourself all the thoughts you want/need. you are among friends here

I thought i would be all tearful on H's birthday with similar (though obv v different) thoughts.
'this time last year i was heading for a normal HB...' type thoughts.
ho hum.

Wonder how LaT is settling in????

We've invited my PIL up for the weekend, last minute as DH has lots of work to do and i was fed up being on my own with the boys all the time. (how times have changed, there was a time i would NOT have asked them up, lol!!!)

Need to find a dress as we've got last minute invites to a formal ball in London on Wed night, woo hoo. my brother says he'll babysit. An old school friend's company has booked a table and needs to fill it - they are paying our tickets, yey, otherwise we wouldn't be going as it's a pricey do. Just panicking about dress now, arrrggghhhh!

Lucky - i know i know, men!

anyone else fancy 14 kids????

simpson · 30/01/2009 18:09

LOL at dirty toilet

Yes LaT how are you getting on??

DD in bed she has been hard work today.

DH is off work tomorrow so have to hoover the whole house and we are putting the double buggy away in the shed as it rarely gets used now...

Not going to sell it just yet as may still occasionally use it ie half term but don't want it in hallway.

Also haven't decided about being a child minder yet so if I do do that, will need to have a double buggy.

Madmouse - you are definately amongst friends...rant as much as you like. Hope Sunday will not be too emotional for you.

JKS - very of you going out.

Hi to everyone else...back later

LuckySalem · 30/01/2009 19:31

JKS - The thing about that is she had 6 kids then went onto have fertility treatment and ended up with 8 (also as an aside, apparently she thought she was having 7 and then during the CS the doc said hang on there's another in here )

Lilyloo · 30/01/2009 19:42

JKS snap have gone onto new as classic was even worse.

Guess it's going to take some getting use to!

Nothing much planned here this weekend. I going to another pampered chef party at neighbours tom which will likly turn into boozy late night so thankful nothing planned SSun!!
Am considering taking dc to build bear shop tom , they have been pestering for ages but can't really afford it

Lucky i hope you keeping the money then

JKS of your night out! I love having iil's coming they take over for bit and i glad of reprieve!

MM sorry you feel so sad about it all i guess you will learn to live with it rather than get over it!

Lat hope all going well!!

Simps when you get the answer to nappy let us know! Purple thing bugging me too!

Gingeme same thing happened with my camera at dd xmas play!

Lucky snap took dd to toddler group this am. She looked tiny compared to all boisterous toddlers but loved singing time

Hope everyone else good and not leaving due to this change have to lol at those who are flouncing
