madmouse · 13/02/2009 21:08

simpson that temperature warrants a call to someone medical that is very high.

LuckySalem · 13/02/2009 21:17

Simps - Just give NHS direct a quick call see what they suggest.

Housemum · 14/02/2009 00:29

Just popping on to keep thread in my "i'm on"list

Simpson - hope she cools down, is she OK apart from temp?

Lily - have got fingers crossed for you - DH is in banking too but we are OK so far (crosses fingers again)

Simpson - just go for it! Just say something like, "this might be a really cheeky question, but I noticed the desk in the back garden and didn't know if it was outgrown or you were going to put in the new playhouse? If you don't want it I might be able to use it - how mcuh would you want for it?)

Teething necklace must be doing something - another tooth is almost through (number 11 is pushing the gums)

She's nearly hit the magic 9kg/20lbs!! New car seat soon...

madmouse · 14/02/2009 08:28

Hi Housemum

11 teeth wow!

glad you're ok. almost 20lb, very good. Hope Nathan is 16lb by now...

Simpson you did not come back on how's Molly?

Lily and you?

Nathan woke me at 6.30 (yawn) with a pooh the size of my fist h was practically balancing on top of it . He was keen enough to get back into bed but no more sleep (yawn)

Is now eating bread after cleaning up two weetabix in five minutes flat.

simpson · 14/02/2009 09:16

LOL at Nathan balancing on top of poo

at Nathan eating 2 weetabix that is what DS (3) ate this morning!!

Gave Molly more nurofen at midnight as her temp went back up and she then slept till 8am. No sign of temp this morning.

She has just had bowl of porridge with neocate and a pancake. Have braved it and given her egg. Its a sainsburys free from soya/dairy pancake.

She seems ok this morning but a bit snotty. She had the most terrible runny poo (calpol/nurofen probably) greeting me this morning!!

Housemum - Wow you made it to the 20lb mark!! DD is 18lb6 but has been in next stage carseat since New Year as she is long iyswim.

LaTrucha · 14/02/2009 10:03

Morning all.

On the fever thing: Sabela cna go up to 39 just with teething but Calpol or Calprofen will bring it down. When she had the UTI the warnign sign was that the fever did not come down significantly with medication. It was 39 before and stayed over 38. Please, every time I panic with teething temps, remind me of this! I think it's quite a useful distinction, though.

madmouse · 14/02/2009 12:02

simpson i bought nathan some fish fingers. how do you feed them to Molly?

simpson · 14/02/2009 12:13

Madmouse - she has them with baked beans and I just cut/flake them up once cooked.

If she is in a good mood I cut them into inch sized pieces and put on tray or if too tired I just spoon feed it but they are smaller pieces then iyswim. She loves them!!

I have a very unhappy baby today....

madmouse · 14/02/2009 12:18

poor baby, any sign of a tooth at least?

simpson · 14/02/2009 12:24

Have never known a child to get top teeth first but this is what is happening i think...

I kid you not I can see at least 5 at the top under gum especially the side ones which are very close to coming through.

But nothing at the bottom yet...

Good news is no reaction from the pancake yet but she still hasn't done a poo so time will tell....

LaTrucha · 14/02/2009 15:01

It may be obvious, but have you offered her some chamomile teething powders? Nelson's do one called Teetha. They don't help the pain, but they make Sabela calmer and happier. It really is rotten, isn't it?

We have had a day of shocks here

  1. Sablea has been sleepin gon my bed as usual. For the first time i found her right on the edge. She is in her cot for her nap this afternoon. She will get a shock when she wakes up. Any tips on getteing her to nap in her cot without me feeding her to sleep (which is what I did today then sneaked her in). I'd really rather not do CC during the day.

  2. She lurched almost totally out of DHs arms as he was picking up a toy for her.

  3. she loves drinking out of our glasses, as I've said before. At lunch today, she saw the water jug on the table and decided that must just be a really cool glass and lifted it to her mouth! We caught it just in time.

I think she might be becoming a toddler!

simpson · 14/02/2009 16:29

LaT - you have reminded me that I had some teething powders in cupboard.

They seem to be doing the trick so far...fingers X.

All she will eat is fruitapura & porridge (which at least I can put her milk in)

Am going to try her with her other 2 fav things roasted sweet potato and broccoli.

Molly tends to throw herself backwards if you are holding her and if not careful enough you would drop her

Don't have any ideas re sleeping in cot in day sorry. Could you try feeding her for a couple of days then gradually reduce it?

LaTrucha · 14/02/2009 16:30

I think I'll have to. To be fair, she has done everything I've ever asked ehr to do in terms of routine change. I'm going to miss our afternoon cuddles!

Good that she is eating SOMETHING! Anything!

simpson · 14/02/2009 16:37

Never had any of this teething lark with DS they just seemed to appear overnight!!

Molly is now riveted to the goal rush on sky sports news!! Think its because the commentators talk all excited when there is a goal

Glad Sabela better and adjusting to new routine in Spain

madmouse · 14/02/2009 16:48

pmsl at Sabela and the water jug. Wish i had seen it. I am sure she and Nathan are twins, both tiny but with certain ideas . Nathan tried something similar with a tray containing the snacks for 15 tots...with one hand.

LuckySalem · 14/02/2009 19:27

Glad Molly is better Simps.

Housemum 20lbs good good. I'm sure Aaliyah only weighs around 20lbs to be honest. lol.

She's currently running around in the nuddy not showing any signs of being tired and wanting to go to sleep.

One more thing COME ON WALES haha

simpson · 14/02/2009 19:42

LOL at A running around naked!! You are supposed to be sleeping

Molly was playing with her toys in front room earlier so I decided to give her tea there and brought bowl in. Her mouth was wide open even before I got my bum on the floor in front of her

However once teething powders wear of is a different kettle of fish...

She went to bed at 6pm and has just woken up (so not like her!!) and needed more nurofen.

Hope I get a better night tonight.

Madmouse - How did Nathan get on with fish fingers??

LaTrucha · 14/02/2009 19:58

Hope you get a good night Simpson (and Lucky)

Worried about silence from Lilyloo

Madmouse - I certainly think so too. Very firm ideas. I think we're going to have to hold our ground in the next year or two!

Seems liek evryone's been off enjoying Valentine's Day., doesn't it?

MIL was over the moon today as Sabela asked her to pick her up AND I was in the same room.

Wish me luck tomorrow. My two nieces aged 5 and 10 are coming and they are MONSTERS. THey weren't very nice last time. Now my MIL despairs of them and says they need Super Nanny. (Yes, we have it here too!). They really do behave awfully, and their mother is just under-confident and embarrassed so sits back and laughs to pretend it's all a joke or a one-off.

BTW, have any of you tried pasta with pesto sauce with you LOs? Sabela actually stuffs handfuls into her mouth. She cannot get enough. And if you want your LO to bulk up a bit, it's a good thing to put extra olive oil and / or cheese into.

LuckySalem · 14/02/2009 20:04

No celebrating of V day for us as DP is working. We're postponing till weds/Thurs (depending on when my parents can watch her)

DD is in bed Finally started showing signs of being tired so I ran with it

simpson · 14/02/2009 20:09

LaT - I make persto sauce for DS he loves it

I have Lilyloo's email if we don't hear from her soon. Hope she is ok...

Good luck tomorrow. Sounds like you might need it

Lucky - glad she is in bed!! DH working from 4am tomorrow so we are celebrating V day another time too. TBH all we will do is get takeaway & DVD probably.

LuckySalem · 14/02/2009 20:10

Simps thats all we're doing - Curry & a DVD (or box office)

simpson · 14/02/2009 20:11

Ooops pesto I can spell honest!!

madmouse · 14/02/2009 20:43

Hi all

Just emailed Lily a quick line

Simpson glad dd wanted her tea so badly. Nathan has this thing when he is very hungry he lifts both arms in the air and opens his mouth wide, you have to keep spooning until the arms go down. If you stop before that to rub your nose or take a bit of your own food take cover the alarm will go off.

lol at Sabela stuffing handfuls of food in her mouth

Fishfingers, well he was too busy with his plastic traffic light (from his train set, it also came shopping today little boys hey...)to eat them as finger food and the small pieces ended up mixed with his puree and the batter just got in the way, might as well have used canned/fresh fish. He did like the taste though, but then he is a fish fiend

No valentine's day here, bar an exchange of cards. Dh is still preparing for Sunday and I need to do some too. I have spotted that the lovely Martyn Joseph will do a concert in Pershore, an hour away, in march. We have not seen him live since before I got pregnant, which is way too long. Will get tickets and find a friend to babysit. Oooweee!
