ChairmumMiaow · 14/05/2008 14:02

That's great standing up - when was Aaliyah born?

gingeme · 14/05/2008 15:49

Afternoon ladies. YAWN!!! Bad night here too. George woke at 12,1,4,6 and 7.30. so the bits in between on my new mattress was wonderful thankyou Housemum we were going to 'try out' the new mattress on Thursday but thats a no go for now
Lo's had a funny day today. Hes been a real grump and won't nap so that means when dh goes to work its all going to erupt with tired whingey children as ds4 hasn't had a nap too
Good for you on the arse kicking dp lucky sometimes they need to be kicked into touch. Your dd is simply gorgeous
One good thing about having same sex children is you can hand down clothes. ds4 is curremtly wearing ds3's old dungarees and t shirt and ds5 is wearing little leather Starchild shoes that were ds4's. Thats what you call re cycling

gingeme · 14/05/2008 15:50

Ooh sorry welcome ChairmumMiaow

LuckySalem · 14/05/2008 16:03

Aaliyah was born on 16th Jan so she's now 17weeks TODAY! (Happy Birthday to you, lol)

AngeChica · 14/05/2008 17:00

Hey Dotsie, Alek is only 15 weeks old, born on 29 January! But - in reality, he has only gained just over 6 lb since he was born as he was a big boy at birth.

I'm still astounded at how little wear I have got out of some of his clothes. Have decided car boots and chaz shops are the way forward.

A mate got this for her little boy from a car boot the other day, we put Alek in it and he looked like a little mini DJ. He looked hilarious.

hi ChairmumMiaow, great name!

mixedmama · 14/05/2008 17:08

Evening ladies....

How is everyone.

Sorry for all the bad news that has been flying around. Hope everythign sorts itslef out.

Lilyloo - bit the bullet today and asked my dad. If he says no he says no.

Went to Weight Watchers last night.... lost 2 pounds so pleased as that is 13 pounds in 5 weeks so have 1 more pound till i hit my first target of 1 stone. Feeling really positive.

Barristermum - I felt awful when I left DS1 to go back to work but feel much calmer this time round as feel comfy with workload and company and childcare which were all problems before. Feel for you tho.

Hi to everyone who we havent heard of for a while.

Justkeepswimming - we are planning a trip to Southend this weekend if you are about for a little play and coffee prob sunday.

AngeChica · 14/05/2008 17:09

i meant this.

mixedmama · 14/05/2008 17:09

oh and Bmum - if i dont get on for tomorrow... Happy Birthday

nicky6 · 14/05/2008 18:24

did massive post yesterday and lost it all and couldnt face redoing so sorry all.

Just a quicky charlie after 2 weeks of regressing to not sleeping through is back sleeping from dream feed to 7.30-8 with just a few little moans in the night but like all the others she is much more grouchy than she was before and the health visitor thinks she is teething although only 16 weeks today.

The stop breathing baby monitor alarm beeped last night never seen me and dh run up the stairs so quick - but all was fine - bit of a heart attack though.

had a manic week already been out every day all day and am absolutely worn out also got stuck in 2 hours traffic from camden to dulwich last night which meant poor charlie was very late to bed and had to drink cold carton formula in her already used bottle whilst we were driving - poor little sausage.

hope all well
mixedmama well done on weight loss - i have a stone to go and am struggling i have to say any tips??

lilyloo · 14/05/2008 20:14

mixedmama
well done you that's a real achievement.
Fingers crossed your dad helps out, i am sure it will be a huge weight off your shoulders, have you got a back up if he says no?

Gingeme sorry you didn't get too long on new matress, maybe George was jealous

bmum happy birthday for tom

Lucky did you get any joy on hol thread ?

Nicky bet that was very scary, we don't have one of them still have old monitors i had with ds, bet it frightened you to death!

Ange my sis has one of those in her loft for me, asking her to hold on to it until Martha grows out of moses basket, vibrating swing, bouncy chair, inflatable floor ring she is taking over!!!

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 14/05/2008 21:08

evening all.

so last night wasn't great, lost track but think it went:
7 feed+calpol
11.30 feed+calpol
3 feed + calpol
5ish feed and up for the day

so calpol didn't work then!

trying calpol night tonight....if that doesn't work i guess i'll just have to go back to gritting teeth and waiting for whatever it is to pass...it will pass...it will pass...

mixedm - hope your dad does help out, we borrowed from my in-laws to buy our current house. dh did all the sorting out. advise a written plan of repayment so no discussion in the future.

seems like lots of the LOs are doing the same waking at night. nicky you have given me hope
ds1 didn't do this to me!!

lucky - hope dp keeps it up

yey, dh has come back tonight, wasn't due back till tomorrow, means he can help with the morning

right, got to finish some bits for joint birthday party for ds1 & a friend tomorrow - at her house luckily
have been baking fairy cakes & rice krispie cakes all day!

lilyloo · 14/05/2008 21:12

Happy birthday to ds tom jks , guess you won't get lie in as am sure he will be excited.
Have lovely day and here's hoping for good night, at least this thread keeps me sane knowing we are in the majority

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 14/05/2008 21:30

i know what you mean about staying sane. if i thought i was the only one...!

ds is actually 2 on fri. he's sharing a (mini) party with antenatal friend who is 2 tomorrow. then my family are coming on sat for 'proper' cake, then in-laws on sunday, so 4 days of cake & candles

lilyloo · 14/05/2008 21:32

Oh well here's to lie in then
And wouldn't like to plan his 18th

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 15/05/2008 08:34

this is meant to be the lowest-key year !
1st is a big deal for us, and from 3 onwards i figure he'll know more about it all.
just worked out this way by accident, i was determined to just have a small family get-together on one day but in-laws scuppered that at the last min, making it 2 days, and none of them can make fri so that makes it 3 days.
today is mostly the little girls day really, honest!

well not exactly a lie-in as dh still had to get up early & head off for work, but:
7 feed & calpol night
1.30 feed
5 feed
6 awake

so not bad, ds1 up at 6.30. feel ALMOST human today

how was everyone elses night??

oh and well done mixedmama on weight loss can you lose some for me please too....no movement here, still have 3 stone

AngeChica · 15/05/2008 09:23

"Normal" service resumed i.e. small feed at 12 and 3, larger feed at 4.30 and 6. Today I took him into bed after that and we've slept til 8.45! I don't really sleep if he is lying on my front though, just doze, suppose it helps me feel more rested. Am desperate for him to get to 17 weeks and see if solids can help him sleep longer.

He is currently spending most of his awake time blowing bubbles and playing with his feet. It's very cute.

Fragolina · 15/05/2008 10:09

Finally headed off to Boots for anbesol liquid yesterday and it has worked wonders - thanks for the tip guys! Much less cranky today (both me and Tana )...and DH is being rather sweet, which makes a HUGE difference (not sure if I have forgiven him though).

Last night wasn't too bad:
10:30 feed
3:30-5:00 feed, then projectile vomit, and exploding poo so full wipe down and change (took me ages as I was so groggy).
6:30 cranky crying (I ignored her for a minute, and accidentally dozed off , and by the time I woke up 15 mins later she was sound asleep)
8:00 feed
9:30 nap

She seems to have a really long nap in the mornings (about 2 - 2.5 hours) which means she only catnaps the rest of the day, and gets progressively crankier, until by 6:00pm both of us are praying for bedtime. How can I change this?

Ange - its adorable when they discover their feet isn't it?! How did baby massage go yesterday?
Gingeme - congrats to George on teeth!! Anyone else's first tooth appeared?
Madmouse - glad your MIL is doing well. Any news on Nathan's passport?
JKS/Katy - Happy birthday to DS, am in awe at the super organised present buying, the 3 days of birthday party, and the fairy cake baking . Am still trying to muster up the time and energy to tame my mad curls (have booked a salon appoinment tomorrow, but better at least make an effort today before I shock them at the hairdressers!!)
Bmum - happy birthday
Mixedmama - well done on weight loss, that's fantastic!!
Nicky - hope your heart rate has returned to normal after that scare!
Lucky - good for you giving DP a good kick up the bum. Glad things are looking up.

Have decided to eat sensibly, with portion control and less crap (i.e chocs, biscuits, cakes)...but I have a question about portion sizes. I think I read somewhere that each meal should be of a total volume/size that could fit into your cupped hands. Does this seem logical? Too small?

fillybuster · 15/05/2008 10:18

Hope the party is fun today JKS...

I do feel quite guilty that Tamara is sleeping so well...but she is being a little about breast feeding - at least once a day she's having a massive screaming fit (complete with tears running down her face) about not wanting to latch on. Very strange, as she generally only has a bottle of ebm for the dream feed and she always goes on happily in the morning.......anyway, its very not fun. I suspect she's going to self-wean pretty fast once she's on solids...

Oh, and she's discovered that if she grizzles she doesn't have to stay on the playmat for an hour at a time...so sadly, she now generally refuses to stay on her playmay/in her chair for more than 15 mins or so! She's not quite old enough for the door bouncer or inflatable ring, but I am looking forward to getting those out to provide a bit of a change of scene for her

OK, going to go and be constructive.

Lucky, glad your dp is being a bit more useful - hope it lasts Aaliya is a total cutie...love the pics!!

Mixedmama - fingers crossed for you

Bmum - happy birthday! Will try to call you later on

Hugs to everyone xxx

fillybuster · 15/05/2008 10:52

Hi Frag, sorry must have xposted! If you're willing to wake a sleeping baby (and admittedly not everyone is!) maybe you could try waking Alex a bit earlier from her morning sleep (say, after 1.5 hours) and then try putting her down properly at a certain point in the afternoon for another proper sleep? Also, I find that putting Tamara down for a catnap around 5.30-ish for 45mins or so gives her just enough of a break to get her through the evening feed/bath/bedtime wind-down routine so that she doesn't go into total meltdown but is happy to go to sleep at 7.30pm.

fillybuster · 15/05/2008 10:54

oops just called Tana 'Alek', sorry.......really not with it today

lilyloo · 15/05/2008 11:53

Glad everyone had 'better' night we did
7pm bed
9.45 feed (right at end of apprentice )
1 feed
3.30 feed
6.15 dp got up with her and i woke to her ravenous cries at 7.30
bless dp he didn't wake me up and was trying to entertain her!

Just back from dd1 injections and she didn't cry at all , was very proud of her.

Just a quick one as of for some dinner then baby massage!

Hope ds has lovely day 1 of his bday JKS
Frag good on you getting hair apt , i have booked me and dd1 in next Sat, she hasn't had her hair cut (other than fringe)since she was born and it is starting to look very straggly !

Frag i have cat napper here too!

Filly that was one of the main reasons i gave up with dd1, have you tried giving her water in a bottle instead , maybe she not hungry just thirsty ? If Martha does that i try this or just give up and try again later presuming she isn't that hungry?

AngeChica · 15/05/2008 12:42

baby massage was lovely. Seemed to have a purgative effect though. DS pooed and weed during it.

I second the late afternoon nap. If we don't get one out of him there are tears aplenty before bedtime. Half an hour between 5 and 6pm usually enough. I often leave him kipping on DH whil I go and get some fresh air with the dog.

gingeme · 15/05/2008 13:26

Happy Birthday Bmum
Yes a better night here too thank goodness.
D oes anyone watch The Wright Stuff on Channel 5 at 9am? They had a debate about breast feeding policy. I rang in and got through but didn't get on the show. It was very interesting but nothing we havn't heard before realy.
I got my new dress today from Ebay. I have 2 weddings to go to in August. Its beautiful and I feel very feminine in it. Very swooshy. ds3 says I look like a fairy
Not alot happening here today realy. Going out to get some sandals for ds3 soon and a mattress protecter.
Hope everyone is well.
Any more takers on the meet up?

betterhalf · 15/05/2008 15:12

Well, Toby had his first taste of baby rice yesterday and absolutely loved it. Went for his weigh in and his weight gain was slowing down so she recommended starting weaning . All very exciting. Have got to pop back to baby clinic in 2 weeks to see if thats sorted the weight out.

On a side note, Toby's been sleeping fantastically. It's really annoying though as instead of me being able to make the most of it and sleep well, I've got the cough from hell which is keeping me up all night long. Grrrr.
Bought Toby a baby bouncer today. He's fast asleep at the minute but can't wait to see him in it.

LuckySalem · 15/05/2008 16:57

Girls - Its upto you if you'll do it but I found that Aaliyah was waking in the night for no reason other than a cuddle (I'd offer bottle, she'd drink 2 maybe 3oz and fall asleep with teat in her mouth) so A week ago after speaking with HV I ignored her when she woke up at 1, I just sat by her basket so she could see me and ignored her - cue crying fit for about 1/2 hr then sleep, next night she woke at 1 and I ignored her she fell back asleep within 10 mins - since then (touch wood) she hasn't woken up during the night so if your babes aren't eating in the night try it if you feel upto it.

Aaliayh went to babyclub on tues and she's lost 4o in a week, they're not worrying yet (although deep inside I am abit)

Had a really lazy day today as DD woke up at 5, we all went back to bed at 12 and have only just got up (DD & DP still sleeping though) we're meant to be decorating her nursery so I can put her in the there nxt week but really don't feel upto it so looks like it'll have to be put off for another week. [yawn]

Happy birthday JKS' DS & Bmum

Hope everyone else ok!!
