She's back!

How are you all?

I am fine, had nice time at my mum's - girls got a bit over-tired and hyped towards the end; but it a lot better than I thought it might be so that was good!

Haven't caught up on anything as my talk boad is stuck on "book format" so I can only see 10 or so msgs at one time - annoying the hell out of me - grrrrr! Have gone to "customise talk" menu and selected Classic Mumsnet, but can't seem to get the whole thread on page as normal - any suggestions!!?

Going to bed soon, now that gifts are wrapped and stockings areh ung and Father Christmas has left his snowy "footpints" (icing sugar) all down the hallway!!

tcmummy · 24/12/2007 23:15

Just popping in to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! !!!

We have had a busy few days and are hopping in the car tomorrow to spend a couple of nights at my sisters.

I have a stinking cold and can't taste a thing!! Gutted! And I'm hoping all the food I've been cooking up tastes ok!

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas with our 1st Christmas babies!

DippyChristmas · 24/12/2007 23:30

Hello tcmummy, hope you ahve a super time!!

Ooooh, you speaking about the car reminding me that we are without transport this Christmas!! I thought Pillock and Eddas made it look like sooooo much fun I would try it too!! Starter motor's gone again (only replaced in July ) So car's out of action til after Christmas - supposed to be entitled to a hire car for free while our car off the road under our RAC cover; but they "don't have any cars for us to hire at the present time". Supposed to going to see family in Maidenhead Boxing Day. Arse.

Arse.

ElfPolarBear · 24/12/2007 23:32

omg
t stopped breathing earlier, screamed until he was blue then eyes went glazed and he went floppy
ambulance to a&e by which time he had a snooze and was cooing, crawling and chewing my nose
all fine now but.......aaaaargh.........and there is a DH shaped hole in the shower door from when he heard me scream
plus we ran out of gas (we have a tank in the garden, guy is here now filling it. wow
didnt get to go to midnight mass, but will be praying anyway
merry christmas xxx

DippyChristmas · 24/12/2007 23:34

{{{{{{{EPB}}}}}}}} Must have been so frightening and such a shock for you, poor love. xx I have heard about babies doing this sort of thing before. xxxx

ElfPolarBear · 24/12/2007 23:35

so had i but always thought it was in older babies
he's done the "scream so loud it's silent" thing, but never blue
All well now
Get to bed or he won't come!!

tcmummy · 24/12/2007 23:40

Oh my goodness EPB!! !! You poor love. That sounds so scary. My friend's toddler has a condition where he just stops breathing. It's really scary, but thankfully he seems to be growing out of it. I hope that it's just a one-off for poor T. What a way to spend Christmas eve. No doubt he'll be boasting to his mates in the playgroud oneday about his 1st Christmas drama!

phew about getting the gas!

Hi Dippy - oh no about the car!!! What a pain! And what a cop out from them! grrrr...

DippyChristmas · 24/12/2007 23:41

Yes mum!!

Night all. xx

tcmummy · 24/12/2007 23:44

Night night Dippy! Hope you have a lovely day with your girls tomorrow!

ElfPolarBear · 25/12/2007 00:34

good night everyone
hope we all have lovely days
Dippy, I meant to thank you for your newsletter, am only half way through it but it is very entertaining Just reminded me, as I assume it's the 'ugly bug' that's conked out? So annoying about the hire car, what do they suggets you do? Can you hire one and they'll repay you? Doubt anywhere would be open anyway.

weewishyouamerryonion · 25/12/2007 00:40

ho ho ho ho
merry merry merry xmas to you all. hope you all have a lovely day.
epb - how bloody scary. i am sure you were trembling after it all. hope you 3 are ok. as you said - T seemed fine but i bet you 2 got a jolt.

we are all still up - talking and looking through photos. all the rest of the family are tiddly but i havent had a drink. such a nice day. c and i collected her dd from the airport earlier - she got alot of attention dressed as a reindeer.
lovely family lunch, chilled afternoon and now all set for the morning. we have been round the neighbours leaving santas footprints, santas beard and reindeer hoof prints in their gardens. very cool.
i have made up my buckets of fake snow - so it WILL be a white xmas here!!

love and peace to you all. xxxxx

fpesha · 25/12/2007 01:54

EPB - must have been so scary, glad he is ok now.

Ellie - glad you got the parcel

Dippy - we're also having car problems, exhaust has fallen off again So we just have the coupe which means I have to sit in the back in the middle with no seat belt and try not to bash my head too often as we go over any small ridges in the road

Well all presents have been wrapped for ages, reindeer food and father christmas food has been 'eaten'. But D was awake for ages and the last time I went to try and settle him M and N woke up so now sitting here till it seems safe enough to go get stockings to fill. And bum I can hear the bunk beds squeaking over the monitor so one of the big dc is obviously still moving around I'm knackered!!

GO TO SLEEP!!!!!!!

And the worse thing is they're bound to be up at 6 or earlier even wanting to open presents [yawn]

Oh well,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!

And Happy Birthday to all those with christmas time birthdays

iMustBeMad · 25/12/2007 08:31

Morning all

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

I can do this
I can do this
I can do this
I can do this
I can do this

I'm hoping if I tell myself enough times it will happen

J woke just before 6 so I thought I'd stay awake as M would surely be awake soon. Eventually J made so much noise he woke M up at 6.30, I put on my best excited voice and suggested we go downstairs and see if Father Christmas had left presents. M wasn't keen, persuaded him we should, get downstairs, finds his stocking, then sits looking at the presents in it while asking allsorts of un-answerable questions about FC "but how does he fit down the chimney mummy?" "where does he get the moeny to buy the presents?" "how does he know J's name?"
Every present he opened I got asked why he'd got it?, what was he supposed to do with it? and told he didn't actually like it
For someone that struggles with christmas as a whole, it's not easy to keep up the smiles and excitement when faced with the 4-yr old inquistion on the rights and wrongs of Santa and being told they didn't actually want any presents

We all had a bath, J is back in bed, M and me have had breakfast, the padding from the bike seats is in the dryer as it's raining.

Roll on the fun with the family

Glad you enjoyed the epic journey through my year, E! You can do this!!

Just wanted to say Happy Christmas!! to everyone!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Off to Ben's parents in a mo, they've got older 2, we've got P who is determined to whinge and scream her way through today - I've had enough already tbh. Sigh.....

leakythesnowman · 25/12/2007 16:44

HAPPY CHRISTMAS lovely ladies .

I hope you are having lovely days with your families.

Bit mixed here. George has been lovely and it's been fab to spend time with dh's family especially gorgeous Eva (who is doing really well). However MIL and SIL seem to have got the horrid vomiting bug that's doing the rounds - (we had it last week), so they're sleeping it off now.

Unfortunately (or is it?) my gran seems to be slipping away the doctor said yesterday it won't be long. She sleeps a lot and is hardly eating and seems "altered" when she is awake.
Also my parents marriage is about to self destruct. My mam got incredibly drunk with some friends last night and the evening ended at home with my dad screaming in her face about the state she was in. This was in front of dh and loud enough to wake and absolutely terrify G. Dad stormed off to bed and it took me an hour to get my incoherent mother to bed(they have seperate rooms). It's been bad for years but the stress of caring for Gran and living virtually separate lives seems to have put the final nail in the coffin. I think they'll split once Gran has passed away.

Next year we will be staying home away from my fucked up dysfunctional family. i feel so lucky to have such a kind, supportive man.

Blimey that's gloomy! Sorry - don't want to vent to the ILS about my family!

EPB - hope you're ok and T is too. How terrifying!

Dippy - thanks for your newspaper newsletter. Felt exhausted reading about all you've been up to with your brood

Off to find a mince pie. Don't think I've had one yet today.

AngeGabriel · 25/12/2007 18:49

Just a quick hello to wish everyone a HAPPY CHRISTMAS. I have snuck upstairs at my Mum and Dad's under the guise of feeding Izzy!!

The antibiotics are working now with Izzy and she is almost back to her old smiley, happy self, thank goodness.

EPB - That must have been so scary for you, I still remember the first time J did that. Glad T's ok now.

Leaky - Sorry to hear about your stressful time with your mum and dad, hope it gets sorted. Poor MIL/SIL with bug

Praying for your Gran that she is at peace soon.

Also thanks Dippy for your essay Christmas letter, it made very entertaining reading
