So it continues- welcome over from the antenatal thread and any new joiners. How's everyone getting on?

@2countries1bump I’m sorry to hear that. Is there a group or something he could attend that would help?

We are doing pretty well. She fights naps too though, always has. We went through a really bad phase but it’s already improved. She’s great at night though.

To be honest, I still can’t believe she’s mine. I don’t know how I got so lucky.

@KoalasAteMyHomework wow teething already? Can you try anything to help them at such a young age?

KoalasAteMyHomework · 24/08/2019 03:53

I have a nap fighter too!

@Kescilly glad to hear your DD is sleeping well at night and that things are pretty good. Enjoy every second! They grow up so fast.

Yes I couldn't quite bring myself to believe it's teething, but his nappies definitely seem to confirm it. That, along with all the dribble and the fact he is always trying to stuff his whole fist in his mouth. I could be wrong, so just keeping an eye on things for now as there doesn't seem much else I can do for him where he's still so young. It doesn't seem to be causing him too much distress at the moment, luckily. I thought the other day that I could feel the tip of a tooth but don't want to keep sticking my finger in his mouth.

Kescilly · 29/08/2019 08:26

Yes I can’t believe how much she’s already grown! I find myself sentimental over everything these days!

How’s your son doing, did you find any teeth? Ours is doing the hand in the mouth and lots of dribbling but I don’t think it’s teething for her, she’s been doing this for a few weeks and looks like she is trying to self-soothe.

bottomflannel · 31/08/2019 16:27

Hi all - may I join you? DS2 is almost 12 weeks old (11 weeks adjusted). DS1 is 8, so I feel like a first-timer again!

Bizawit · 31/08/2019 21:37

Hi All! How is everyone doing? My baby is 12 weeks (13.5 adjusted) and is already rolling. Anyone else’s doing this? Now that she can roll, I put her to sleep on her back and she rolls straight on her tummy as prefers sleeping that way. Do I leave her, or try to put her back on her back? She’s so young! Confused

Greggers2017 · 02/09/2019 18:09

@bottomflannel I can completely sympathise with you. My other children are 12 and 10 and DSD is 11, so I definitely feel as if I'm starting again.

2countries1bump · 06/09/2019 05:33

@Kescilly @KoalasAteMyHomework My DD is also drooling and putting her fist in her mouth. She's also starting to put toys in her mouth/chew on them. Not felt any teeth yet but definitely wondering...

Naps still a battle here. We had 12 week jabs yesterday which made it worse and she was so overwhelmed and tired we both collapsed into bed early. Keep hearing tales of 4 month sleep regression and quaking!

P.S. Welcome @bottomflannel !

How's everyone doing?

I know that putting their hands/fists/toys in their mouth is a common development at 3 months so was hoping it was just that, but looks like DS is definitely teething, I can see the top of the tooth almost pushing through! I didn't expect it so early.

@Bizawit sorry not to have replied earlier. How's the rolling going? I never had this issue myself but some of my friends have. The Lullaby Trust I think says to roll them back if you are awake and see them on their front but you don't have to monitor them all night
This covers it a bit:

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/09/2019 02:28

@Kescilly I was thinking of you the other day, since you're my mirror expat. How are you getting on?

We're generally fine, except DS is currently having some kind of godawful nap-strike, leading to episodes of overtired demon-baby. Today was hard going Sad

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/09/2019 08:57

Ouch @allfurcoatnoknickers DS1 used to be like that. It was hellish. I hope it improves for you!

Bizawit · 16/09/2019 13:05

Thanks @KoalasAteMyHomework. The problem is I’m not sure she can confidently roll in both directions. She sometimes can, but often she gets stuck. In any case after a week of frantic rolling/ trying to roll it seems to have subsided somewhat. My latest issue is with feeding. I’m exclusively breastfeeding her, and noticed we have got into a pattern recently where she doesn’t eat much/ has short feeds/ snacks during the day and then wakes up constantly for really long feeds over night. Not good for my sleeping!!

@allfurcoatnoknickers mine’s also a terrible napper. It’s so hard!!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/09/2019 13:14

@KoalasAteMyHomework I feel like no one warned me about nap problems! DS sleeps well at night, but daytime is a whole other (horror)story. I can only get him to nap if we're outside and on the move which isn't very restful for me...

2countries1bump · 17/09/2019 06:25

@allfurcoatnoknickers @KoalasAteMyHomework

Also nap strike in full swing here. DD appears to only nap in the baby sling and even then when walked around extensively! It is mainly still 30C plus here so we both get really hot and sweaty! Considering starting on some gentle sleep training to see if that helps - anyone had any good recommendations?

Nights are good so I should be grateful! @Bizawit we nearly got into the reverse cycling thing but a friend spotted it and warned me. What worked for us was taking a day or two off most other things- skin to skin, offering the breast lots and I used up some of my expressed milk feeding her extra during the day/before bed. This stopped her being quite so hungry at night and got her daytime eating up... although she still does a first thing (6am) cluster feed sometimes (like now!). Same friend said that appetite peaks at 4 months so we might also get a little respite after that!

It's been a long time since I've been on Mumsnet, but it feels comforting to see the same usernames from when I was pregnant!

2countries1bump · 10/01/2020 18:50

@LauralovesLuke How are you doing? Pregnancy feels and age away! Very nearly 7 months and DD has a tooth! Anyone else still around?

OP posts:
Bizawit · 10/01/2020 19:31

DD also just turned 7 months. No teeth yet and no crawling as of yet. She sits up nicely though and can sort of wave bye bye!

2countries1bump · 11/01/2020 04:37

@Bizawit Lovely to hear your update! DD not crawling yet either- although drives herself crazy trying! We have a bit of bum shuffling but it won't be long until she's mobile some how. We get less waving goodbye but lots of exciting arm flapping for hello/pick me up! Does feel like they really communicate what they want these days!

Blondcat · 11/01/2020 07:42

Dd is 7 months a few days off of 7 and a half she has two teeth which came through one day after the other the weekend before Christmas. She sits really well and has started to push herself backwards with her hands while on her tummy and turning round a small amount of backwards bum shuffling too. Hands and arms flap but not defined waving yet. Good to hear updates from people.

2countries1bump · 11/01/2020 11:55

@Blondcat Wow! Two teeth in one weekend - that's good going . DD's came through on Boxing Day. She was a bit snotty but otherwise not too bad. And agree, it's lovely to hear how people are doing.

rollerskaterdata · 14/01/2020 13:00

I'm still around, good to see some updates Smile my DD is now 7 1/2 months old and very vocal! Lots of babbling and trying to communicate, arm flapping/holds her arms up to be picked up and lots of smiling and laughing. She sits really well and lunges forward as if to crawl but doesn't get any further than that! No teeth yet either which I'm honestly glad about as I'm still breastfeeding!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 14/01/2020 17:34

Hello! I'm still about too. My little guy is now 7 months old, no teeth here either yet but definitely teething. Still a juggling act with the school run etc but getting the hang of it now!

2countries1bump · 18/01/2020 19:44

@KoalasAteMyHomework @rollerskaterdata Lovely to hear your updates. Also breastfeeding here and fearing teeth! Starting back at work is testing my juggling skills! Anyone else back at work?
