Fate that is really interesting because today B has dropped the amount of milk he is taking, ate loads of butternut squash at lunch, but certainly he us down on his daily consumption of milk, which seems to be going back to what it was before his growth spurt....

TeamEponine · 10/02/2015 15:15

I have officially made one of the best baby purchases ever! I've really struggled with trying to get DD into coats and snow suits (we walk everywhere) and she screams every time, especially when she was in the harness. I've just gotten a baby star wrap and it is amazing!!! Warm and snuggly but so easy to put on. If you're thinking of a new coat soon, I'd really recommend it Grin

DD is currently obsessed with blowing raspberries. So cute, but I'm constantly being sprayed with dribble!

RedToothBrush · 10/02/2015 16:48

Today we have bought an Ikea gym mat. DS is trying hard to injure himself. Yesterday I put him in his walker to get the washing done. He can only just touch the floor in it. Next thing, he's whizzing around playing dodgems in it. I have 'The Fear'.

Nazly · 10/02/2015 20:32

Spoke too soon. Two episodes of refluxy vomits today, but I have not been careful enough assuming he is cured over night! Flying session after food (even with half hour delay)= not a good idea if your baby has reflux.
I am not starting medication though.

26 weeks today. Visited health clinic and he is 21lb.

Today I cooked a more balanced food for him, which he loved; so I am happy.

May I suggest that if you have time and are willing please share the recipes of successful food here? I know there are cook books out there but somehow for me this forum is more attractive.

So here is mine which I totally made up: (chicken vegetable meal)
The good thing about this recipe is that it tasted nice enough and grown up enough to have it as your own meal .

Some diced onion and a small garlic, slightly fried in one table spoon of olive oil, chicken tight with no bone added and fried for a couple of minutes; then added carrots and broccoli. Added one very low salt chicken cube, added a bit of water and left it to cook for 20 minutes or so. You can add less water if you want stew or more if you want soup. I then blended it for ds because he still has problems with lumpy food.
He absolutely loved it.
By the way base on 1/3 protein 1/3 vegetable 1/3 starchy food principle I am missing starchy so next time I'll add some potato or rice.

ApplesTheHare · 10/02/2015 20:34

Pies it sounds like Baby Pies might be the biggest baby so far!

Does anybody follow any good baby blogs?

Nazly · 10/02/2015 20:48

Oh and I do recommend Kallo very low salt chicken stock cube; tastes good, and each cube has less than 0.1 gr of salt which is one tenth of baby's allowable salt intake.

CumbrianExile · 10/02/2015 21:00

Oh that sounds nice Nazly.
I agree it would be good to share food ideas here. I haven't started weening yet, but would be good to get some ideas here Smile

topmammy · 10/02/2015 21:14

Hope you have a better night tonight misog!

Team - where did you get the star wrap from? Jessica also protests very loudly at having coats put on!

Jessica is 6 months old today Shock Can't believe how fast that has gone. She's 16 lbs 7oz.

holls2000 · 10/02/2015 21:16

so a strange feeding day today -
7am 150ml
10am 150ml
1pm a vat of bns puree and 150ml
4pm decided he hated baby rice and cried whenever I suggested it but had some ellas apple puree which I grabbed in despair and 360ml
7pm 200ml then 45 mins later cried and had another 80ml

however - and this happened yesterday and today - at about 6.30 he was a bit sick - not a huge amount but suggests too much milk perhaps for his tummy at 4pm?

for the past two days he had (gag alert) pooed during his 4pm feed. wasnt particularly worried but mentioned to hv who said that (obviously) there is a transition period so totally normal and that he is obvs still hungry so to try mixing a veg with his fruit at 4pm. as bns is his 'favourite' so far am mixing that with pear tomorrow. he has jad sweet potato so he is having that with broccoli tomorrow lunch AFTER swimming....Grin

in other news have asked work if I can go back full time to pay for new house, well more to have a bit of cash to do things with him with. please tell me it's ok!!! he won't remember these months when he is older and nursery will be very good for his development and also for me, right?

holls2000 · 10/02/2015 21:16

top I had a star wrap from tuppence and crumble it was lovely.

Neena88 · 10/02/2015 21:24

Hi all
Haven't posted for a few days, nice to catch up on your news

Reflux
we are also using Ranitidine for reflux and were told to start reducing the dosage at 3 months but he hadn't improved so we haven't started yet. I would be really interested to hear how you go, Nazly and Team.

Swaddling
We had about a week of poor sleeping when we stopped, we went to a stretchy cotton bag, but then he got used to it and it went back to normal.
Hopefully one day soon he can have his arms out without waking himself up! I think he finds this too exciting and will just wriggle instead of sleeping

Team
We recently went from basket to cot and I was so nervous about it but it went much better than I thought, so your little one might surprise you. He did look very tiny and sweet and lost in his cot though! The basket was fantastic for the first few months, did you have a rocker stand? We soon figured out we could sit in a chair and rock it with our feet!

Nazly · 10/02/2015 22:41

Question: why would you think my ds woke up very many times last night ? He is nearly 6m but 5m1w corrected so no regression.
What could be other reasons for waking up? Honestly I lost count after the third time, so not sure how many times. aiming to count tonight and already he has woken once at 9:45 after less than 2 hoursConfused

Yes, the star wrap is from Tuppence and Crumble, but you can find them on Amazon. They really are great!

I might try DD in her big cot for her naps tomorrow. Let's see how it goes...

Inspired by Nazly, we have started reducing her ranitidine dose. Again, let's see how it goes...

Any hints for getting back to sleep in the middle of the night?! It is so frustrating not being able to sleep when DD is blissfully zonked Angry I've always had problems sleeping though.

Neena88 · 11/02/2015 05:24

The star wrap is so gorgeous! Just looked it up online.
Good luck with the cot naps and reducing dosage, Team - you will get there! : )

holls2000 · 11/02/2015 08:26

Morning all, feeling a bit stressed here and very bad. Had asked work for 4 days a week, but then this house thing has come up and so I have now asked if I can go back full time. No one seems particularly thrilled, and I feel hugely bad for messing them around. Tell me I have been really good for being so honest with them early on???? I feel terrible cos I know my boss has been creating a plan to make 4 days work. Damn selling house and bigger mortgage!

ApplesTheHare · 11/02/2015 09:04

I spoke way too soon when I said sleep regression seemed to be over here. Dd slept through for 2 nights and then last night was back to feeds at 2, 4 and 6. Shattered. What is going on??

Team you're brave trying the big cot for naps! I've put dd in hers to play with toys until now but I'm starting to wonder if that's a big mistake...Grin

Nazly could it be his digestion adjusting to food keeping him up?

Topsyloulou · 11/02/2015 09:20

Holls I'm sure your work will be fine, it's probably just a surprise that you now want to return full time. It seems that most people expect you to want to return to work part time after mat leave & everyone seems shocked when I say I'm going back full time. I'm sure they'll appreciate the notice you've given as well. I told work in January that I'll be back in July & have started the process to change my contract, all because I want to have a 30 minute lunch break instead of an hour so I can finish earlier.

The star wraps look great. We've got a Morrck for the car seat which is great. Just about to order the next size up as his feet are sticking out of the bottom now!

We put DS in his cot for his naps on the day we moved him in there at night but he'd been in the cot quite a lot before as the changing table is on top of the cot so after he'd been changed we'd lie him in there while we tided up, washed hands etc. I was quite anxious about moving him to the cot & him not being in our room but we all slept so much better from the first night. He's got room to move & doesn't get disturbed by us coming to bed etc & he's learning to self settle better as I don't instantly reach over & put the dummy in.

TeamEponine · 11/02/2015 09:59

Holls, don't feel bad about wanting to return full time! Your little one will be absolutely fine and it sounds like you would be gaining a lot if you do get to return full time. Fingers crossed it works out.

First nap in her cot was a success! Slept for about 40 minutes, which is normal, and has woken up in a lovely mood Smile

RedToothBrush · 11/02/2015 10:51

I did a footprint when DS was 10 days old. I just did another.

He is a giant monster!

FATEdestiny · 11/02/2015 13:02

RE footprints.

I know birthdays are a long way off, but my friend does something that I think it really lovely with her two children (aged 10 and 8 now).

Every year, just after the childs birthday, she cuts up her birthday cards and uses them to make a collaged frame and in the middle of the frame she laminates a hand & foot print.

It is a way to save the birthday cards and makes lovely keepsakes. She has saved these from every year of her children's lives and they are lined up across the top of the wall in her kitchen.

A lovely thing, I think.

holls2000 · 11/02/2015 14:55

I feel bad because they have worked really hard to make part time work and now I have changed the goal posts. But I thought saying could I go full time would make life easier, not harder, for them...:-( feel v upset with myself and can feel my anxiety rocket. Bugger.

FATEdestiny · 11/02/2015 15:04

Oh holls, don't worry too much about it. It really isn't the end of the world and although your boss may be annoyed at plans having to change, you do have every right to return to work on your previous hours. They should not be making you feel guilty about this.

cookielove · 11/02/2015 15:04

holls lots of people put their children in full time and they really excel in nursery. Your lo will be very happy I am sure. And your work will be fine.

You have just reminded me that I need to sort out my return to work.

team I struggle to fall asleep too I either play the alphabet game e.g name things that are found in the kitchen. Or I focus on my breathing!

Ds is really taking to food :) yay!

holls2000 · 11/02/2015 15:28

thank you all. I just feel really stupid and like a silly little girl who has put everyone out. (I did sort of cheekily ask if they could assume full time unless sale falls through) but I am talking about September so sort of hope I have given them plenty of notice. Should have just not mentioned anything, my fault for being open and trying to do the best by everyone. bangs self on head with hard object

Ok, martyrdom moment over.

Today I remembered not to feed big amounts of food before swimming! Hurray!! NO VOM and he had loads of sweet potato/broccoli purees and 150ml before going to sleep. bless him, it's exhausting work swimming!

FATE that is a lovely idea with the bday cards…sadly I am so unartistic that I would probably leave a toe off or something. We did a footprint in clay when b was aout 2 weeks old…couldn't get all toes pushed down so his little toe is actually an indent made by his godmother's little finger!! I do look at that little foot now and wonder where my little baby is!!

A lot of !!!! in here. Sorry.
