It's pretty complex, but it is based on their relationship as it is now and their personalities. DS1 needs a certain type of care/love/nurturing in order to succeed in life. I think my mum would be the best person to be able to give him what he needs. Where as DP would be best placed to bring up O.

Kyzordz · 20/07/2013 21:26

Evening all, how goes?

Been quiet on here again today, everybody must be having fun :) or at least I hope so! izzy so pleased you had a fantabulous sleep!

gt hope lo has an extra happy day tomorrow to make up for being a grump today. I was the proud mother of a grump this afternoon but he was really tired or at least I think that's his excuse!

jj sounds like l is about where e is with movement (not a lot but getting better)

That's really good vq, j letting you sleep in :)

Lucky duck madame!! Hope you have a really great time

mm I saw the ek book but it looked like it was aimed at toddlers so I didn't get It, is it good?

I do not read e a story Blush he doesn't pay my attention and just tries to rip the books :( I do keep trying every so often but I haven't for a month or so. Not sure when to read it tbh

Sorry to hear about your nephew lily :(

chasing no idea how you go about willages, no idea at all :s

det def sounds like a reaction doesn't it :(

That sounds good yw hope it works tomorrow too :)

PetiteRaleuse · 20/07/2013 21:39

Night quiche. Wilting here. Everyone is bad tempered we have all the spent the day snapping at each other. And the weather is set to get even hotter the next few days. I am not made for hot weather and no air con.

ChasingDaisy · 20/07/2013 21:44

Ooh I must share something O did today. He was sat in his M&P snug seat with the tray in front of him on the floor and he picked up the tray and put it on the seat, exactly as he sees me doing every day. In the right place and everything Shock Grin

YellowWellies · 20/07/2013 21:48

Ahhh that makes sense Det. Families can be so complex. It must be tough to have to think about that kind of 'what if' Sad

As for the tomato / rash it could be a reaction to the acid or it could indicate an intolerance to the nightshade family - my niece gets a red rash and now she's a toddler acts like she's on speed and struggles to sleep after eating tomatoes, peppers and potatoes - the latter is the bane of my sister's life when it comes to family meals.

TheDetective · 20/07/2013 21:56

He seems fine with potato, also he has had peppers 3 times (I think) now and been okay.

I'm going to go and have a look at his face again now (tried to earlier but he was asleep on the affected side!).

TheDetective · 20/07/2013 21:57

Clever O chasing Grin. Do you think he was trying to tell you something?!!

ValiumQueen · 20/07/2013 22:06

J has had 45 oz and 3 full meals today. The most solids he has ever eaten. Tonight he had a chicken dinner that I made a few weeks back and ate it all. Previously he has only managed half. I am a happy mummy as the Domperidone seems to be helping. The ranitadine side effects are manageable too. I hope it lasts.

Lily does this seem to be a new thing with your nephew? Surely some one would have noticed before now, HV or family? Could it be a recent infection that has dulled his hearing? Do they do the newborn test there?

Only 25 in the nursery tonight, and J seems very snug in his different cot. The mattress is pretty soft so will be more comfy for side sleeping, and I am confident he can lift his head fine now.

He still cannot sit independently for long. Still not crawling properly, but natters with proper gaps and intonation. His hand coordination is really good too. It is amazing how they are all so different.

ChasingDaisy · 20/07/2013 22:08

He did then sit there looking like he was demanding food, before plucking a box of rice cakes out of my bag and trying to open it Hmm I shouldn't be surprised that he has just woken up hungry I guess.

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/07/2013 22:09

izzy yay. I'm so glad you managed to get some sleep. I hope it doesn't all turn to shit for you tonight.

mm I didn't know there was an Ellas kitchen cookbook. I'll go on to amazon to take a look. I need more inspiration.

madame Wow, lucky lucky you. If you decide to do what DH has decided than please spare us the details Grin

lily At the moment E is in the room when I read DD1 her bedtime story so she gets to listen to all manor of stories that are totally inappriopirate for her age. By that I mean suitable for a 3 year old so long and boring for an 8 month old, not full of sex and swearing! I need to start reading to E too. From recollection at this age the Peekabo books went down a treat. And also the That's not my series, although they can get rather boring for adults but DD1 loved them. Goodnight gorilla is a good one as it doesn't have many words, you just ad lib. Others I can think of are Dear Zoo, the hungry caterpillar, and spot the dog. And any books with noise! Although I think it will be a while yet before she pays any attention to them as at the moment she just views books as another thing to shove in her gob. Sorry about your nephew Sad

E is nowhere near crawling. She shuffles backwards and rolls a lot so does get about but at the moment it's in a nice slow controlled maner. Long may it last.

DH is off on a stag do today so I decided to stop off at bluewatter after swimming to have dinner as I couldn't be arsed to cook. Well I wish I hadn't bothered. Went to Pizza Express which in hindsight I shouldn't have done as it was so busy our food took agesto come. DD1 spilt her orange juice eveerywhere. E refused to eat and cried and grizzled and then spilt her water everywhere. I guzzled my dinner and left as quick as we could which was still an hour and a half after we got there! Ah well It was a nice idea!

E's tube has been out since last night. I guess it's going ok. She had a good breakfast, bearly anything for lunch, didn't eat much whilst out but got a yogurt and 4ozs of milk in her when I got home. I'm just so on edge when she doesn't eat much but I don't want to bring across stress vibes to her as that might make it worse so am trying to go with the flow.

MissMummy1 · 20/07/2013 22:09

If anything were to happen to me, I want my mum to have M. Not because I don't think DP would do a good job - far from it - but because I know my mum would give her the sort of upbringing I would want, and if he were to have her solely I don't trust his bastarding family not to take over. She would have plenty of access to DP though, as much as possible, but the decision making etc will be done by my mum. I really should go about putting this in writing...

Kyz looking at it again now a lot of it does seem toddler focussed, although to be honest it starts from first tastes and works up. There are 100s of wonderful sounding recipes and ideas in it.

I steam mopped the kitchen floor this morning and hovered the whole house. My feet are black this evening. Confused

We have had such a lovely day with a couple of old uni pals and their GORGEOUS golden retriever puppy out in the garden. Brood brood brood - M and her played so well, I am even more determined I want a pup.

Kyzordz · 20/07/2013 22:11

Woohoo vq that's brilliant :D

Clever o chasing

Hope tempers are better tomorrow pr

MissMummy1 · 20/07/2013 22:11

X post - that is excellent nomming VQ and eliza !

Kyzordz · 20/07/2013 22:15

eliza you do fantastically with e and her feeding, I am sure it would break me to attempt coping with what you do, I really admire you and e. it sounds like today wasn't toooo bad for her though, eating breakfast and having tea :) good stuff! Was it warm where you are? Perhaps she just wasn't too fussed with grub today if its hot?

mm still sounds like a good buy then! :) might have another look at it next time I'm in town

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/07/2013 22:25

Thanks mm and kyz I guess it wasn't too bad really. It wasn't that warm today and where we were sitting there was quite a breeze so was a bit blowy and chilly if anything! The fact she drank a lot of milk out of a cup for brekkie and before bed is encouraging. I have to remember she needs to learn about hunger and eating/drinking milk to cure the hunger. With the tube one minute she's hungry and then her tummy is full as if by magic. Must be quite freaky! vq Excellent nomming work from J.

I've just bought the EK cook book off amazon. It looks great, thanks mm. I can use it with DD1 too but with our babies it will last as as they get older they can do the toddler bits. kyz if you go onto Amazon you can take a look inside, and if you click surprise me it brings up different pages.

MsJupiterJones · 20/07/2013 23:04

That is great VQ. Hope you are feeling better yourself.

L has made progress today, moving around in his funny haphazard way. Testing out his weight and strength lots. Hope he sleeps well after all the effort!

We read Hungry Caterpillar, Ten Little Fingers, Owl & Pussycat Lily. Just bought 'The Night You Were Born' for the purpose of making myself weepy.

BigPigLittlePig · 20/07/2013 23:21

I want to share something with all you will dodgers me included

I looked after a young woman, with several children, who was well, became unwell, and died within a matter of weeks. She was delerious and couldn't make a will, but had complex money/inheritance issues, and her kids had 2 different dads (one of whom was completely unsuitable). Luckily, she was lucid enough to sign a will her family had drafted on her behalf please ignore legalities madame. Without this, her nobhead ex-p would have taken his children, splitting them apart, and would legally have been able to do so. He could also have accessed various monies attached to those children. As it was, the kids stayed together, with money in trust, looked after by the 2nd partner and assisted by her mum.

Det in particular, get something in writing. Stop burying your head in the sand. Chances are nothing will happen to necessitate using your will, but it isn't worth the gamble imo. There was a thread on here recently about children/stepchildren/wills/custody type things.

Anyhoo.

Um. Will post properly tomorrow, it's Freyas christening so a busy day ahead of us. Looking forward to it! Although suspect she may scream the church down when the vicar holds her Grin

TheDetective · 20/07/2013 23:34

Can anyone who is up look at the pic I put on FB? I need opinions :(

GTbaby · 20/07/2013 23:57

Ok det.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 21/07/2013 00:29

J took 4.5oz of a bottle at 11.40pm, he went to bed at midnight. We shall see how operation attempt bottles overnight goes! He technically should be fuller after the bottle as i can see what volume he's taken, just need to remember and not boob him! I've made a few bottles up and put them in fridge so I can heat them and give those when needed. Am scared! Silly I know! Midnight is also a ridiculous time to be going to Bed!

PurplePidjin · 21/07/2013 01:41

We'd prefer bil to have R, but luckily any of the close family would be fine. It's just that our parents aren't young and sil has two, with the eldest being on the autistic spectrum and has high needs. Bil has an adult son and one R's age, so is best placed.

We do books in the day, he just wants milk at night! Although increasingly he wants walked rather than fed to sleep...

Lily311 · 21/07/2013 04:53

I have a will. First thing I did after O was born. I don't want OH's family to take O at all. I have to admit I chose my older brother because of the personal and financial situation he is in not because I want him 100% to raise O. I would love my younger brother to have her but he is in the UK and can't name him until he returns. My sister is a good choice too but bec she is single with 3 kids and with a huge mortgage the judge would not approve. Anyway my older brother will have her and I know that the whole family will help.

As for my nephew we don't know how long it's been on. The nursery report says that he doesn't listen, doesn't respond. That was issued in June. He never showed that he didn't understand us, I guess he was lip reading. No infection. My sister realised when she put music on and he asked her to turn it louder. It was on full volume an he still looked confused.

We are off to my parents' today. Feel tired but O will love it.

ChasingDaisy · 21/07/2013 04:55

Third wake up Sad I am blaming XP for messing up his routine today.

Passmethecrisps · 21/07/2013 06:46

Morning.

Another 5am waking. Rubbish.

I need to start taking the Kalms again - I think I got about 4 hours sleep and not in a block.

Weirdly, MM at one point I was dreaming of M! I have no idea what was happening but I do know she was in it. Also, I was doing a DP in that I tended to P several times as a result of half-sleep noises in my head.

I think I know what your DP is doing MM as I did it last night. I woke very suddenly in the middle of a dream. I don't know if the dream itself woke me or something else. Basically I started awake and then spent about 15 minutes in a weird semi-sleep dream state where I was finding it impossible to separate dream from reality. This led to me going to see P 3 times in that time thinking she was crying.

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 21/07/2013 07:26

Sad story bp. Hope F's christening goes well, pop some pics up later?

izzy no overnight posts... Dare we hope?

pass that awake-a-bit-but-still-dreaming state can be super confusing. I know DH in particular gets this, we have had conversations in the night that make no sense and he then doesn't remember.

not going to lecture anyone on will making today, no siree bob

Lovely day and night. Actually enjoyed DH's company! Massive realisation on how much we live like co-servants to two very demanding employers, rather than a couple sometimes, iyswim? World of good done. Need to go and find something nice for my lovely sister to say thanks. And can't wait for cuddles from my monsters!
