Here we go then... I've also updated my album of photos on the \link{http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/photos\Yahoo site}, it'd be great to see recent pics of all our angels on there!

Georgie - I know that is so annoying they are all decked out in pink and someone says to A "oh you have a little brother" (think before engaging brain) same people who ask if they are twins! Although they are both very alike A is very small and dainty whilst T is a big bruiser. When they are both naked and standing up T is much broader than A and has big chunky thighs but that leaves them when they start to walk. I would say the same thing as you T isn't as classically pretty as A but she has a beautiful cheeky smile.

Lyra - hope your day went well phew just reading about it

We went to see Santa today, A was totally scared by him though bless her.

Lets see what 2007 brings shall we .

Much love, G xx

Hi girls -

haven't been on the computer much lately as dh has been working on our website etc, so hogging the thing. Most unfair!

Anyway - what news?

Still no teeth for Theo, but walking around most of the time. Will also climb any stairs in his eyeline.

He almost burned the house down last week - I had left a couple of packets of breakfast cereal on the ceramic hob when I went to wash my hair. I took Theo into the bathroom with me, but he must have flipped the knob to 6 before we went in. Coming out of the bathroom there was smoke everywhere and flaming porridge oats all over the place. In a panic I used the dog bed to smother it!!

Anyway, the house smelled rancid for a few days, and there are some nasty burns in the lino but no serious harm done. Gave me a shock tho. Typically dh more worried about the lino than me or the kids!

Lyra - what is it with electrical appliances close to Christmas?? Our washing machine went on the blink last weekend. We have already had it fixed once for £60, so today dh took the back off and may have sorted it. Fingers crossed, as the washing piles are oozing out of the bathroom like some B movie!

Nice to hear some of you have Centre parcs plans for Christmas/NY - we may do it next yr so I can see my family in the UK.

Just thinking about how we were all feeling this time last year puts a smile on my face!!

Merry Christmas everyone! lets hope the little ones have a magical time and that we can relax and watch them doing it!!!

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 23/12/2006 07:44

Hi all - just a very quick message before I go off to the supermarket to get the last bits & peices before my family descend on us for the festivities.

Wishing us all a wonderful and magical first Christmas with our little ones, and may their wonder and pleasure in the little things (like cardboard boxes, pretty lights and seeing mummy for the first time in a morning ) last forever.

May love,light and laughter abound

A new era starts tonight in the Tickle household...

Theo has moved out of our room. Ta-da!

He went to bed tonight in his cot in the children's bedroom. They all share one big room, so it's pretty cosy. Theo will certainly have to learn to like it, as he's the lightest sleeper we have ever had. Tonight dd2 went to bed (T already in there, asleep) singing the Scooby Doo themetune in a LOUD stage whisper

So dh and I are having an early night so we can sit up and read with the light on.

Oh dear, we're a bit boring, aren't we?

ei24 · 28/12/2006 22:53

Chuffed · 30/12/2006 08:59

Hope you all had a great Christmas. We did and also celebrated ds's birthday in the afternoon on xmas day. Hard to believe he is 1. He is a hefty 10.2kg and need to measure his height. He is fairly long but doesn't look his weight, somebody actually asked if he was about 7mths today. He is really close to walking, forever on his feet, climbing stairs, and loves jumping on the tramp holding my hands.

OTickletownofbethlehem · 30/12/2006 09:36

hello all, and welcome to ei! A lot of us went overdue Sian sounds lovely - we need more info though!! Is she walking, sleeping.. etc?

Happy Birthday to your ds Chuffed (a bit late!)

Theo's bedroom swap is going pretty well - this morning he slept til 6.45, then came upstairs for a b/f with me, and went back to sleep til 8am. What a lie-in I'm now not b/fing during the day - just first thing in the morning and at (his) bedtime.

What are people doing for New Year? DH's parents have invited us over, (same village, so not so far!) but I think I would rather they come here so the littlies can go to bed. Negotiations begin

hugs

loomer · 30/12/2006 13:03

Happy christmas everyone! It's gone so quiet on here of late hasn't it? Hope everybody has had relatively relaxing and peaceful christmasses (?never quite sure of the spelling on that one). Ours was very noisy - up to my parents' for a couple of nights with my cousin and his four boys and my brother and SIL, fifteen sat down for christmas lunch, wow well done my mum !

Since then we've all been ill with some horrid flu-thing which Scarlett is just peaking with today (had longest night with her last night, worst for months and months), very boring, can't wait for everyone to recover and get health back. No plans for new year - we were supposed to be going over to friends for tapas and boozin', but I think the flu situation has put paid to that.

Scarlett has made huge progress with walking, and over the past ten days or so has just suddenly got her confidence up... now she is zooming around everywhere in the house. She did about ten laps of the lounge last night non-stop, it's so sweet she's just loving the independence. Thankfully she still hasn't worked out how to climb, so the stairs are still out of bounds!

Oh, and we also spotted the emergence of teeth number eight and nine yesterday, so all those ruddy cheeks weren't without good reason.

Gosh, I'd completely forgotten that the birthday celebrations are starting already... it really seems like no time at all since we were tapping away on here wondering when our big beanies were going to put in an appearance. Well done Chuffed, you were the first of 'our lot' to pop weren't you? How strange is it to have a proper grown-up baby now eh? Well, OK maybe not grown up, but a whole year old!

Right, I'm going to see if I can get a quick nap in whilst Scarlett is down. Festive kisses to all, mwah, mwah!

sweetkitty · 03/01/2007 22:34

hi all hope you all had a lovely New Year ours was pretty quiet although we had loads of storms up here only damage we had was Abbie's slide shooting across the garden and slamming into the house, didn't cause any real damage though.

Welcome ei don't worry you are in good company we are all proud mummies on here

Talia still hasn't let go so to speak she is zooming about in her new walker thing and can stand herself but that first step isn't quite there yet. Sleep is still a bit hit and miss though.

Can you believe we are at first birthdays already T will be one of the last to have her first birthday as she was very stubborn as I'm sure you will all remember. I loved this time last year loggin on every morning wondering who had "popped" in the night (never me boo hiss), me trying everything to get her out!

tickle - T is being evicted from our room soon as well, I'm down to one BF in the day and am winding this up in the next few weeks, then we are going cold turkey on the night BFs. Glad Theo is doing well the idea of a big kids room is lovely.

Right I had better go and get some sleep before the little madam wakes up, crawls out her cot along the bed to me and starts gnawing at my top.

Mumfun · 04/01/2007 11:48

hi

Happy New Year all

T is very different to a lot here - is only just bothering to pull herself along the ground - cant even call it crawling yet. We are ages away from any standing/walking etc.She is really happy though.

A lot better on the sleeping - usually to 5 or 6 in the morning now hurray.

Did have a bit of a shock though. Having to stop BF due to injuries by the little madam. Have very damaged nipple due to damage in temper feeding to sleep one night. Other one is cut on line between nipple and breast where she pulled away when distracted - not her fault.

SO had to stop on first breast immediately. Worried how she would be with a bottle -should not have worried - very interested first feed abd second feed as though doing it all her life - now goes mad when she sees bottle - likes it better then BF as she can get so much so quickly. Going to stop feeding on other breast asap as is so painful sometimes. Sad but gets me off the BF for a good reason and lots of positives for me and her.

DH still working away but needs to to keep job at present. Hes IT Project Manager like somebody else said their DH was - sorry cant remember who. 2 rounds or redundancies at his company so far and I can see another one will probably happen too.

ANyway were well and happy otherwise and DS has settled down better again while his Dad is away. DS starts school nursery in week and a half -cant believe it.

Trying to get head round whether to have another child at present - its now or never at 41 . Really would like another but as DH says would be 3 under 5 - bit of a handful. THink my brain has forgotten how sick I get from morning sickness. Probably give it a go but very aware that may have no chance of conceiving and also high MC risk at my age.

Must dash to pick up Ds from current nursery

Bye

hi hope everyone had a great new year!! i didnt so much!! me an dp went to a family do an dd just spent the evening crying and clingin to me!! oh hell on earth cos the friends of dps family who we had never met before were tutting and rolling their eyes at eachother an then when we were leavin i walked in on them moaning about their night being ruined by 'that screaming child'!!! effin bitches! i wudnt mind but their kids wer runnin round dp's relatives house breakin things an screamin like little terrors!! u think they wud hav a bit of tact and sympathy for the situation!! iv told dp now tho that were not doin that again cos it was so embarrassing!! anywho rant over!!
how is everybody this fine jan 2007 afternoon??
ei xx

Tickle · 05/01/2007 19:13

oh ei that's horrid It's so hard to keep them amused when you're not in your own home, and the pressure is on for them to behave. There is never the perfect place for you to just sit quietly and calm them down. Don't fume over that couple... just be glad they are not your friends!

As you say, probably best avoided! In a couple of years she'll be partying with the rest of them ;)

All well here... big ones back at school, so the house is shaping up (still a mess, but for us that's ok!!)

xx

Hiya Girls
Not been around in ages, was in Glasgow for 2 wks with the folks for xmas etc. Won't attempt to catch up on all the posts I've missed right this minute as I'm feeling sick as a dog - but will aim to in the next few days. Really hoping it's early morning sickness, but that may be a tad optimistic as I'm only about 3 or 4 days post ovulation.
Happy birthday to all those early Jan babies, Lola's on the 12th and we're having her party the day after.(Eshay did you get your invite?)
Lola's got 6 teeth thru, loves her stride-to-ride walker but not confident enough to let go yet, sleeping like a dream again thank goodness. Hating being fed, but not got a clue how to use a spoon to get food to her mouth - have to say I'm hating this bit as much as her.

wow bbw fingers crossed its mornin sickness 4 u!!
hi everyone hows things?? wer havin a birthday party 4 sian 2day cos its th big 1 tomorrow!! this time last year i was bein monitored in th womens cos my waters had broken!! iv been a bit weepy about it today tbh!!
well iv just worked out my dates an im late!! i dont feel pg but u never no!! tbh im not sure how i feel about it if i am cos on one hand i would love another lo but on the other we cant afford another yet cos im still in the middle of my nursing training ( i already took a year out to have sian!) wer plannin on gettin married on 4th august so if i was pg i wud prob be about 8 months by then an we only live in a little 2.5 bed house so wer stretched 4 room as it is!! gosh i would be in a pickle imo!! i think im gonna wait it out 4 a few days an c if lady red comes to visit if not il do a test an c either way!!

sweetkitty · 08/01/2007 16:10

wow looks like our January babies might have some little brothers or sisters to play with soon (fingers crossed) I'm another one debating whether to have another one this year too, 3 under 5 am I totally insane? Thing is I don't want 2 close together then a gap and another one, get it all over and done with. Maybe think about it May/June time for a Spring 2008 baby (am not going to be 8 months pregnant over Christmas again)

Happy Birthday to all the LOs with birthdays coming up, it is very emotional for us mums too

ei - what a horrid New Year I think people forget what it's like to have a baby that won't settle in a strange place

Lisa - I would forget the spoon completely if I were you, I take it Lola is happy with finger foods? All Talia eats by spoon now is the really messy food like yoghurt/soup/cereal everything else is just normal food chopped up and she's happy to pick it up and eat it. Abbie was the same she totally refused to eat from a spoon, they are just independent little madams! Means you can also get on with your dinner at the same time stops it getting cold. I must say I love baby led weaning

T's just her usual self, stands by herself but still a bit too wobbly for those first steps, funniest thing right now is Abbie is teaching her dollies to walk to by walking around with them by the hands and saying "clever girl that's you etc" very sweet she also takes T's hand and walks with her (won't be that in a few weeks when T is chasing after her I'm sure).

GeorgiePorgieXmasPuddingandPie · 09/01/2007 13:24

Hi Gang

Libby is 1 tomorrow!

Can't belevie how quickly time has flown. Manic Christmas. Centre Parcs fun fun fun. Great house with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Mollie beside herself with excitement over the jacuzzi and jumped in at every given opportunity. New year slightly less fun. London to Cumbria in a arse numbing 6 hours. Ugh. new year in a 'leauge of gentlemen' type pub on Yorkshire moors . Too strange and rather surreal but fun none the less. Back down south on new years day evening to have Libby projectile vom in back of car as we're just passing Stafford. Quick handbrake turn to see lovely friend, hose Libs and car seat down and impropmtu over night stay with champagne and canapes, fan-bloody-tastic .

Back to the daily grid now. Small family gathering tomorrow for Liberty Violet. Have baked a cake and will make jelly and sandwiches that she can throw all over floor.

Just thinking, Nappies, Rach, Iris, Lyra..... where are you? Everything OK I hope.

Hi and happy new year to SK, Lise, Tickle and Loomer. my watch word for this year is 'delegation'. All got a bit too much last year when eneded up making my cleaner lunch whenever she was here !

Welcome ei24.

And fingers crossed for you Lise. We've got a mammoth building project (if council approve....boo hisss)this year so will prob wait until Dec 07 TTC. Although, I'm not getting any younger (as my mother likes to remind me !) but hey, what will be will be.

G xx

Tickle · 10/01/2007 12:15

HB libs!!

wow - brave people comtemplating pregnancy Good luck to anyone trying... and ei - you'll manage! Small gaps are great, you get it all over with and then you're dying to get back to work

Theo shares Lola's birthday on Fri... still not a tooth in his head, but practically running around the house. More attitude than the other 3 put together - am thinking of building some sort of soundproofed room for timeout ready for the terrible 2s!!

We are coming over to England to do up our cottage in Cornwall (ready to sell it sniff!) from Feb 11 to Mar 25.

So, if anyone would like to meet up - I will be in the country with 4 bundles of trouble

my motto for 2007? "be prepared"

...so i'm off shopping

iris66 · 11/01/2007 13:43

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday month to all our LOs (where on earth did that year go!!)

I'm now officially back firing on all four cylinders YAY!! (think I'll just forget Feb-Nov 2006 completely!!!)
Christmas and new year were frenetic but fab. DH didn't get home until 23rd, family arrived en masse on 24th - DS became obsessed by his new sit & ride, noisy flashy lighty spinny-rotor aeroplane - and much champagne & chocs were consumed (good job I'm on a weight gain plan! )

DS is finally sleeping through 7.30 - 7 (and that's made such a difference!)He's not quite walking yet but stands for quite a while and loves pushing his toys around. He still has a grin too big for his mouth (home to 8 teeth now) and says mummy, daddy, shjo (for DD),oof and do(for the dog), to (for toast) and tupa tee (for cup of tea - ie milk) He is utterly adorable - even if he does seem to think that biting my face (or my arms, neck, shoulders, chest) and headbutting are signs of affection (I seem to remember saying, this time last year, that he needed an asbo for violent behaviour!!!)

We're just having a small family party for DS's birthday next Thursday (Rach/Hunkermunker - will be thinking of you and your gorgeous boys turning 1 then too!!) then I think DH & I may also turn our attention to trying for No.3 (sweetkitty - you are very brave - I wouldn't consider it if it wasn't for the age gap!! mumfun - I'm 41 this year but figure I'd rather regret something I'd done than something I hadn't I say PAH! to increased risks and statistics )
ei24/Lisa - fingers crossed for you getting the results you want

Georgie - good luck with the planners (I thought you were moving though???)

Lyra - hope Alex has a lovely birthday tomorrow

Is everyone back at work now who was going to go back by the way?

motto for 2007? - don't think, just do it!

must fly - DS requires my services - sorry for not catching up with everyone....waffly head on..... bye for now

barrelrider · 12/01/2007 08:58

Hi all

Happy New Year to everyone and happy birthday to the babies! I can't believe they are turning one.

Things quite good here but we all have colds. Dominic crawling and standing/cruising. Very happy and 'placid' (I hate the word but everyone describes him thus). I took him up to see my folks in Newcastle just after New Year, flew from Southampton. Good as gold on the way there and very fractious on the way back. Kept throwing things into the aisle, demanding food and then pooed just as we were coming in to land so I couldn't do anything about it! But I was proud of my little traveller.

We have finally decorated the nursery!! A year later than most people but hey, we did move house in April and we've been busy etc!!

Kitty- you made me laugh when you said you loved it this time last year, logging on to see who had popped in the night.. I remember it well, you and I were really fed up by the end of the month!!

Mumfun, T sounds great. Hope the bottle feeding goes well.

I too am thinking about the next one. Not really the right time since I'm also thinking about applying for a new job (which would mean waiting a while so I get mat pay) but when is the right time?! I'm 35, and I think an 18month ish gap sounds good. Also didn't really enjoy first few months of motherhood so kind of want to get that bit out of the way!

Iris well done on the 7 - 7.30 sleeps! And what about all those words he's saying, wow!!

My watchphrase for the year is 'Stop worrying', there's been too much of it!

Welcome ei and happy new year to you all!
BR

Oh ffs, I just posted and lost it all grrr! Sorry I haven?t been on for ages, have read but not had time to post (work limit us to an hour of non-business internet access in the day ? how unreasonable!) Happy New Year to everyone and Happy birthday to all the babes this month ? will be thinking of you and Dom, Iris on Thursday (and Hunker and James too). Finn now has his top teeth at last and is bum shuffling (hands free!) I have never seen anything like it, it?s hilarious, I guess he will be a late walker (not such a bad thing for a useless house cleaner like me!

My bf has had her baby girl on Dec 23rd after losing her baby so sadly at 18 wks last year, congrats to her.

Georgie ? Whinfell center parc in the lakes was fab! We were next door to a luxury villa like yours The kids had a great time quad biking, pony trekking, suba diving, bowling etc. The highlight for me was putting LO in the crèche so we could have the ?serail mud experience? in the spa. Well, blimey! They lock you and dp in a morrocan steam/shower room for an hour with only 7 types of mud and a range of Elemis products for company. Needless to say we took full advantage of the opportunity!

Promise to try and post more, am back off to Liverpool tomorrow but see you all soon!

Rach x

Tickle · 13/01/2007 21:13

so let me get this straight rach... we get locked into a steam room with your dp??

form an orderly queue ladies
