Here we go then... I've also updated my album of photos on the \link{http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/photos\Yahoo site}, it'd be great to see recent pics of all our angels on there!

rofl tickle

Things cruising along here, ds can walk 4 steps in a row but has only done it once, he then lowers down to crawl. Yet he can climb steps up and down, up slides and turns at the top to go down. Wants to do anything his sister can do ifywim. He LOVES the trampoline and will happily have somebody bounce him while on his bottom or hands and knees, especially his big sister.
Weather supposed to be good tomorrow we are off to the beach the summer has been terrible so we haven't been as much as we'd like to and the kids just love it.
Plans are being prepared for winter hols now looks like maybe Fiji or Hawaii for August and maybe Vietnam this time next year.
We too are ttc but as no af yet who knows when it will happen. Haven't been bf for over 2mths yet still not here.

lilstarry1 · 14/01/2007 19:48

Hello All...

Have read everyone's updates with a big smile on my face, can only apologise for leaving it so long but it's been a chaotic few months...

How are you all? Happy Birthday to the little'ens ... Beebe's birthday is the 28th so possibly the last one? I do remember reading SK's agonising adventure.. heehee, completely worth it tho' in the end I'm sure

Beebe is doing fantastically, she's signing lots of things now which is really useful - she signs nappy, more, all gone, milk, water, careful, cat and she understands others. She sounds like Morph (the little plasticine man - anyone else remember him?) when she chats, which she does - often. She isn't walking yet, but it isn't far off, she loves climbing the stairs and rarely cries (thank goodness). She's got two bottom teeth and I think she may well be teething ... Joy.
As for me, I start back at Uni tomorrow, well supposedly the whole situation is completely insane because the Uni have NO organisation skills. Sigh.

What else? Well.. my family were in a rather serious car crash a few weeks ago, it's a complete miracle that they are came away unscathed. Really made me realise just how precious this life is and how important my family are to me. Was rather emotional and scary.

Oh and good luck to all those TTC, which brings me nicely to my last piece of news - despite no AF and contraception baby 2 will be putting in an appearance sometime over the summer. Can't beeeeelieve it, definitely need to invest in different condoms . DP and I are really pleased, terrified but pleased. I'm awaiting a scan to work out how far along I am, but am currently enjoying all the joys of pregnancy - tiredness, constant nausea and riding some sort of hideous emotional roller-coaster. There will be about 18 months between them so I'd love to hear from those of you with a similar age gap - I think I need some reassurance that I'll stay sane/cope.

Oh dear, Bee's having a bit of a coughing fit, she's desperately trying to sleep but keeps coughing, definitely teething. Best get on ... will endeavour to keep up to date with you all.

Finally my motto for the year / life : THIS IS IT, so stop thinking about tomorrow or what if and actually enjoy the now.

Love xxx

Chuffed · 14/01/2007 20:13

lilstarry1 we have 21mths and it is fab, hence the want to have similar gap now. The kids play together (as much as they can) often. It is hard at first but hopefully gets easier for most.

lyra41 · 14/01/2007 21:03

Hi y'all

Lovely to catch up with all your news.

Iris
so glad to hear you're back to yourself. Dominic sounds like such a love, and all that talking!! wow. Alex seems to say the odd thing, like yes, accompanied by nodding, and mama, dada, dog, but it's all a bit indistict atm, all family members are convinced he's speaking, but i do think there's a bit of bias going on there!!

Georgie and rach
at your centre parc hols, sounds just fab. we are contemplating a trip to florida at easter, can anyone recommend a cheap air line for flights? not very green i know, but hey, i'm still washing nappies, does that count?!!!

alex's party went well, some fizz and a few nibbles, and lots of friends, parcels and fun. the cake went well, with a scrumptious white choc ganache filling and alex 1 spelled out in sprinkled icing sugar.

waking the dead is calling now, so see you later. xxx

BBWBabeLisa · 14/01/2007 23:40

OMG Lilstarry! Congrats!
Had -ve HPT on Wednesday then AF turned up on Thursday here so back to the drawing board this month.
ei24 - sorry to hear you had a -ve month too. Fingers crossed for this month.
Had Lola's party yesterday, went well, lots of mess but thankfully my darling hubby has done the honours and cleaned everything up. He's back at work tomorrow, and I'm doing emergency babysitting duties for a wee girl 6 weeks younger than Lola - will be interesting to see how I cope with two on my own for the day - wonder if it'll put me off TTC!
Am SO impressed with those of you whose LO's are talking/signing away. Lola's only words are Dad, and Nana (nana only surfaced today as my mum was packing to go home). Despite frequently coaching in "Mama" I seem to be getting nowhere. Tooth number 7 broke thru today/last night. Still cruising, not confident enough to let go.

ei24 · 16/01/2007 12:45

wow congrats to lilstarry on your surprise pg!!
how is everyone??
sians got her first two teeth through this weekend!! im so relieved cos shes been goin mad with her teeth since she was 2 months old!! i was starting to think she had none in there!! shes also got her mmr today which im still in two minds about. dp is against it due to the supposed link between that and autism but iv read up about it and it seems like more of a coincidence than anythin else. has anyone got any veiws on it?? i would love to hear some others!
well gonna go now and make some dinner before i gotta go pick sian up from nursery to toodaloo!!
love ei xx

Chuffed · 17/01/2007 09:21

ei24 there are tons of threads about MMR if you do a search. From what we read before dd it seems to be more 'dangerous' to boys and also children who might have food intorlerances or haven't 'thrived' as well. For this reason we won't be giving it to ds. dd got a emotional reaction to it that lasted about a month and her personality changed and she suddenly went all clingy and insecure which has never been her.
If you are that unsure why not get single doses.

Mumfun · 17/01/2007 14:12

wow Lilstarry - many congrats.

who'll be next?!

Ei - regarding MMR. It is at present such a controversial subject. But my brother is a doctor and just said any medical procedure is a risk. His child has had it and he said very strongly he felt my children should also have it.The thing he said that really stands out to me is that he treats lots of older people over 40 I think who were not able to get MMR who are still suffering long term effects of measles in childhood. Measles can be very very nasty and it can kill.

Sorry to spell it out like that.

Hope everyone has a good day!

wherethewildthingsare · 18/01/2007 13:12

Wow! Congratulations Lilstarry, how lovely! believe me, you will cope fine because you'll know what to do!

Fingers crossed for everyone else who's TTC.

Re: MMR, it is controversial, I used to be a medical researcher and nothing I have ever read has ever convinced me of a proven link. A recent large-scale 25 yr longitudinal, prospective (ie not looking back)study in Japan found no link. I have however seen the effects of measles on a baby - she's now 19 with severe learning difficulties/autistic spectrum behaviour - remember the disease is far more dangerous than the jab. I had my other 3 done without hesitation and without any effect. However, if I had a family history of problems I might not have done. Please don't rely on everyone else vaccinating their babies to protect yours.

Oh and Tickle, he's yours for a price!

wherethewildthingsare · 18/01/2007 13:14

My new laptop is really playing up - I missed a huge chunk of text out there -the most important being that Finn is 1 today, hurrah!

lilstarry1 · 18/01/2007 14:54

Thank you all, I re-read my post and suddenly wondered if I sounded a bit insensitive.. Good luck to all those TTC, I hope our little group is soon filled with more baby related news.

Happy Birthday to those who's birthdays are this week, Bee's is quickly approaching and at the moment she's really suffering, absolutely awful cough.. I think it's teething related but I don't know, she is up on and off throughout the night because every time she settles she wakes up coughing. Poor mite, it's getting her down but she's still so happy. Not sure how long DP and I will cope with the bad nights tho', especially with me back at Uni now.

Bit of a random question - have the other babies had the new injection yet? I think it's for meningitis, all my friends babies have had it but we've not heard anything about it for Beebe. All these immunisations, poor things. I will probably go for the MMR, I read a recent report that denies the links between autism and the injection. I guess like others have said it's up to the parent to make the choice they are most comfortable with. I'd rather have an autistic baby than no baby at all, and when it comes to measles that is possible

How are all the mums feeling? How are those of you who are back at work getting on? 1 year on... it seems so strange.

Right, well DP will be back any moment now (he's braved the weather to walk to the shops) and I best get my lecture notes typed up so I can feign productivity. Heehe.
Love to all x

Jaysecond · 18/01/2007 21:28

Hi there, dont know if anyone remembers me, i was jaysfirst when i was on the Due in Dec 06 thread, i had my daughter Harriette on Jan 3, but i alwasy stuck with you guys for the postnatel, i kinda got waylaid though what with one thing and another and even forgot about this thread can i ever be forgiven! Anyway i am currently on the Due in March 07 thread and have been only managing to post on there sporadically. I am due on 9th March and this time i know i am having a boy.

Harriette is a star, like all the others i am sure, she has six teeth with her 7th and 8th on their way through, shes been walking unaided and climbing stairs since about 11 months which has been a killer for me as i have been having to chase her about so much, oh how i wish back for the days when i was pregnant the first time and i could rest and sleep when i wanted!!! But anyhow i wouldnt change her for the world, shes a constant source or amazment and is intrested in EVERYTHING. See pics \link[http://peanutmonkey.co.uk\here] if you like. Shes sleeping form 630 till 8 most nights and eats everything and anything. I am starting to thin i have got away with things lightly with her and her little brother is going to be a nightmare!!!

I have read a lot of the messages and i am Sorry i havnt posted individual messages but i hope all of you and your lil ones are well and congrats to those who are pregnant again, i will endevour to come on more often now i have rediscovered you all!!

Hugs xx

Jaysecond · 18/01/2007 21:30

i think i should have posted this on dec 05 postnatel...... oh well, i recognise some of you!

Jaysecond · 18/01/2007 21:32

and my links are poo......!!

here we go!

Chuffed · 21/01/2007 20:55

Congrats Jaysecond. That will be a small gap but I'm sure you will cope. My little boy was lots harder than my daughter (first born) but he is a right character and quite cheeky so it probably all links up somewhere along the line.

GeorgiePorgieXmasPuddingandPie · 23/01/2007 15:08

Wow, its news central on this thread!

Major congrats lilstarry. Hope everything goes well for you. You couldn't pay me to get pg again in the near future. Just the thought of morning sickness makes me go green! Although ask me again in a year and it might be a different answer!!!!

Good luck to everyone TTC.

Happy birthday to all the little ones. It's gone so fast hasn't it.

DH took me away to New York for the weekend. Great treat. Shopped like a loonatic. Got great Ralph Lauren dresses and shoes for the girls. And some fab stuff from Old Navy for them too. We went to the new Gordon Ramsey restaurant in New York. Absolutely fantastic. Best meal I've ever had.

Libby has just started nursery 2 afternoons a week and I've also started helping out in Mollie's class once a fortnight. Sucker for punishment me!

Tickle - we had thought about moving but couldn't sell the house so we're building to get the room we need. Although we've got to wait for council to give us the thumbs up. Hope enighbour doesn't kick up stink. She went mental last time DH put plans in and took him to the High Court . DH won in the end so we're hoping that we'll get these plans approved as they approved last ones (although we haven't built them if you see what I mean).

Cripes, better dash. Got to go pick M up from school.

Hope everyone good. More later.

G xx

sweetkitty · 23/01/2007 16:36

hi all wow took me ages to read through all the messages

Well Talia's big day is on Friday I truly cannot believe my baby is one. She's been walking by herself for over a week now, very funny little steps. Sometimes though I think she gets fed up and just falls over and resorts to crawling much easier when she's chasing after Abbie.

Our big news is that she is sleeping through the night we decided enough was enough and the no cry sleep solution just wasn't doing it so DP took over and saw to her one night and we had about an hour of crying and that was her practically. Now a week later she is going straight through )keep thinking it will all change) think she has realised that if there's no milk on offer there's no point in waking. I'm still feeding her twice daily mornings and evenings and in no hurry to stop as it's the best thing for her with all the colds doing the rounds. She is definately not laid back, very feisty and demanding. Very noisy too always chatting or shouting. She shouts "Hiya Talia" all the time. She's had another growth spurt and is in all 12-18 month clothes now (her sister is in 18-24 months). Her hair was in her eyes so she is now sporting a "pineaplle" tuft hairdo too!!!

Georgie - at your NY trip, we went a few years back it was great.

Jaysecond - hi and congratulations

lilstarry - congratulations hope your nor feeling too rough those first few months are hard. I have 18 months between my 2 girls and yes it's hard especially at first but now they are playing together they are inseparable and it's lovely to see them giggling together. I think having A to copy has meant T is grasping things faster that if she were an only child. If you wnat any help choosing a double buggy I'm your woman as I spent 9 months choosing mine and still got it wrong! And it can't be that bad if I'm comtemplating number 3!

T will be having the MMR, A had it at 15 months and was fine. I think the link is coincendental as children first develop the signs of autism around a year anyway so who is to say they wouldn't have been autistic anyway regardless of the vaccination and it's never been proven anyway. I would prefer single vaccines though as feel 3 is too much for their immune system in one go but again it all comes down to cost i.e. it's cheaper for the NHS.

Ei and Lisa - fingers crossed on the TTC hope it happens for you both soon x

Iris - good to hear from you the sleeping through is great but I'm still not used to it!

Lyra - big hi too

Tickle - hope you have a good trip and get some time to relax

Barrelrider - I have just got round to decorating T's room too she's still not in it yet though, all lilac and very girly poor DP. This time last year was very erm trying, or in our house trying to get T out!

Apologies to anyone I have missed out it's not intentional.

I think I am going to start a new thread (now our babes are toddlers)
entitled "Jan 06 - Toddlers - now the fun really begins!" who wants to jump over with me????

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 23/01/2007 20:20

Doh. Just realised that hadn't changed my Christmas log in name .

Hi Kitty. You're making me think that another one sooner rather than later might be cool. Indecisive. Moi? .

G xx

Tickle · 23/01/2007 22:16

Hi all!

Congrats Jaysecond - didn't you have bad SPD with your first? Or am I thinking of someone else?? Anyway hope this preg is going well for you.

My sister and I are one year apart (same birthday!) and my mum always insists that it was easy as pie Mind you, we were angelic kids of course

And lilstarry - how you feeling? It's pretty tiring being pg with a little one around, dontcha find?

We are trying to plan our trip to the UK, but still don't have anyone to housesit and take care of the dogs here But otherwise all preparations going ok.

We've also decided to get an au pair for the summer, as last summer was an experience never to be repeated! So sifting thru Au Pair World, and conversing with a young couple from Finland at the mo!

see you
Tx

hunkermunker · 23/01/2007 22:18
