wound genious! it will work in the nursing home too Grin

slightlyroundthebend · 17/04/2013 21:31

Hahaha wound give me two!!! I still have no idea if the bloody dream sheep really works or not seems to have changeable success rate with ds.

It is windy again tonight but probs worse yet, I'm hoping it doesn't disturb his sleep too much. He's been lovely today but still needed a lot of entertaining and I'm tired.

Oddly ds has started crying when I put him in his high chair??? He's fine in bumbo but high chair is a no no, not sure why maybe he's too little for it still? He's still eating like a trooper. We have a food festival this weekend and I'm hoping to get loads of lovely things to cook up for him I've just blended up some spag bol for his lunch tomorrow so hope he's keen....need to introduce some finger foods though as he gets frustrated not feeding himself and grabs the spoon/ hands in bowl then to head. What is everyone else offering??

Any how here's hoping for good nights all round?

woundbobbin · 17/04/2013 21:35

The dream sheep! Brilliant typo Grin I'm so sleep deprived if I thought putting a dreamy sheep in dd's room would work I'd do it!

slightlyroundthebend · 18/04/2013 10:00

Yey a good night! Down by 8, couple of grumbles. Feed at 11 then at 3 then up at 7 :) definitely an improvement!

Cavatina · 18/04/2013 11:07

pass the dream sheep!
slightly yey for improvement! do you use a dummy to settle?
we have been having similar nights lately, even one where she went without feeding from 9 to 4am (but woke up around midnight and settled with the dummy). She is 6 months at the end of this week, so may be she will finally crack the damn night sleep thingy before I cross the line between sleep deprived and depressed..
running an errant in town today and have to take tube with babyCava, no good with pram, has to go in ergo but she is now quite heavy and is killing my back.grrrr
BabyCava now looks at me intently every time I eat something, this morning was having my tea with rich tea biscuit(s) and she had these big puppy eyes, so I gave her one and she was delighted (but dp kicked some fuss about fat sugar etc, must tell him to stop making commens like this if he wants her to grow up with healthy relationship with food. I managed to teach the ohter two that eating everything in moderation is best).
alse have been craving g&t in the evenings now the weather is warmer, wonder whether it is ok to have one Hmm Have not had a drink for ages, dont really drink much, but it just feels like something I used to do before the whole baby lark

Cavatina · 18/04/2013 11:11

slightly have not done finger food yet apart from the odd bread, and broccoli last nigth she had but not sure much went in.. will start with toast I think, and then pieces of carrot, cucumbef, broccoli, banana.
she just woke uo from 1.5h nap in bednest, yeyeeee! time to get out of my pjs!

slightlyroundthebend · 18/04/2013 12:15

cava we don't use a dummy at night (or diggle as I call them) but oddly I tend to during the day, that is unless he's in the buggy or car where he drops of by himself. He's not normally a fan and will fire them across the room or turn it round and chew the hard side!
So I took the tray of the high chair and much less tears and breakfast or porridge and mango demolished!! He tries to steal my biscuits food too so I bought him some baby ones, I'm sure hv would condemn me to hell for this but they dissolve quickly and he smiles when he has one as he's copying his mummy, his hand mouth coordination is really getting good - who said bad sleepers are clever/geniuses?? Haha

woundbobbin · 18/04/2013 13:20

I'm going to call my plug in company 'the dream sheep' the plug in's will be in the shape of sheep I think the dragons will be interested or maybe lord sugar!
Slightly I've given dd the following finger foods - toast fingers, bread sticks, fruit & veg sticks avocado carrot parsnip mango baby corn broccoli cauliflower & rice cakes
Cava hope your back survives the tube. It's funny with given nice foods (treats) I want dd to have a good relationship with food I understand why people don't give sugar till they are 1 but I worry if I raise her on sunflower seeds then as soon as she is old enough she will just eat junk!
Glad sleep seems to be improving for everyone - getting a bit better here to had a few nights of 3 hours in a row which is goodGrin

Cavatina · 18/04/2013 21:25

hoho managed to outsource babyCava to papa and ventured in town on my own :) back saved + nice to have some time off baby even though was only running errants rather than treating myself which is well deserved and long overdue me thinks (but treated me to guava ripple and hazelnut double scoop ice cream mmmm). waxing my legs is nie considered a treat oh the glamour!
here is to a good nigh sleep hopefully.. proly not in the Cava house as babyCava had a late nap and is now in bed getting herself overtired but will not settle boo

woundbobbin · 18/04/2013 21:40

Winnie the Pooh light projector is installed as yet it is about as useful as a chocolate teapot but I live in hope - will report in with its success rate tomorrow!
Wishing everyone a good night!

Thechick · 19/04/2013 06:21

Hello all. Hope all is well. We are all good here. Weaning is going well. He has eaten everything we have given him and he is having 2 meals a day. I feel like my milk is going down so I might up my fenugreek intake. He is now in his own room and has been sleeping better but I'm not sure if it is the room or jus H's time. He now is in a pattern of waking twice, apart from today. The room changing was quite an emotional thing for me. With ds1 we co slept for quite some time, it felt like we were chucking him out but its been fine. Part of the deal is dh brings him to me when he wakes and puts him back so I'm sleeping better. We have a dream sheep and it seems to work but only after a feed and if he's kind of asleep, lol. it more keeps him asleep than puts him asleep. I have a question. H is bf and I want to do a clear out of his bottles. He is now using a sippy cup for water for meals. Shall I keep one bottle back just in case I'm not around to feed him or just give everything in the sippy cup.

slightlyroundthebend · 19/04/2013 07:23

Urgh rubbish night. Very unsettled and just whimpering :'( we would normally be up by now but I'm trying to help him get some sleep by cuddling. No sign of a tooth, no temperature and less bunged up than he has been for weeks so I don't know what's wrong....cuddles seem to be working. I hope he feels better when he wakes properly as we are supposed to be going to our first musical minis class this afternoon :(

Someone pass a large source of caffeine!!

slightlyroundthebend · 19/04/2013 07:26

chick I'd be inclined to keep a bottle just in case and maybe chuck it a bit further into weaning one wouldn't take up to much room. Ds is ff and we have 8!! I'm planning a cull haha :)

Thechick · 19/04/2013 07:58

Slightly H is bf and we have too many. He was mixed fed to begin with and had avent ones and then bought nuk as that's what was used at the hospital both silicone and rubber, se we have way too many for a bf baby lol!!

woundbobbin · 19/04/2013 08:29

Winnie the Pooh light projector was an epic fail - I ended up having a meltdown in the middle of the night dh ended up on the sofa and dd ended up in our bed Hmm
I know nothing about bottles have borrowed some from a friend (mam brand) which may start sticking some formula in but she drinks water well from a sippy cup (nuby) so might just use that.
Am also running behind this am due to rubbish night aiming to get to mother & toddler group this am & am picking up a jumperoo this pm that I got off gumtree ( hoping she will jump herself to a good nights sleep - I'm so desperate Grin) enjoy musical class slightly !

RunningOutOfIdeas · 19/04/2013 10:16

Love the idea of a dream sheep! Wound sorry sleep is still crap. I had a Winnie the Pooh projector for DD1. Don't think it ever helped her go to sleep but I did find it useful for keeping her amused sometimes.

DD2 seems to have a stomach bug. Since we returned from Oz she has been gradually getting more diarrhoea and refusing food. Yesterday we were at the hospital in the afternoon (to check DD2's hip dysplasia) and I had to change her 3 times in 3 hours. She was also seriously windy. Then last night she threw up an entire bottle of milk. Luckily for me, I had just taken DD2 into the bathroom to run a bath for DD1. So I dangled DD2 over the bath while she was being sick and didn't have too much of a clean up job. She slept ok last night and has kept down most of her milk this morning but is sleepy and miserable when awake. Think we will stay home today and call the gp if she doesn't improve this afternoon.

Thechick · 19/04/2013 20:52

How was dd2 today Running?

OP posts:
Cavatina · 19/04/2013 21:13

evening all, hope you had a good day-sleeepytime now zzzz zzzzzz zzzzzzz
chick I would keep a bottle because I am sentimental, but I believe there is no going back from the sippy cup (which one are you using? I think I need a bigger one..). I feel my milk gone a bit down too, but I think it is normal no? I am still figuring out how to space the meals so she gets enougg milk, is really hard with bf. Also left boob feels less full than right boob Hmm. Fenugreek will proly help but at this point it is supply and demand so may be best to up the bf as well, is what I am doing seems to be working..just an idea.
wound sorry sleep not improving. sounds like you had a busy day fingers cross the jumperoo will exhaust her enough Wink
running hope dd2 feels better, hate it when they are unwell and the weekend is looming..
slightly how was musical minis? we have music monkeys in the area but I am not sure what to expect. we do a lot of songs at baby sensory and babyCava really enjoys it.
She is 6 months tomorrow and I feel like celebrating getting through what I think is the least rewarding time - it is so much more fun now even despite the sleep deprivation. Pass the vinoGrin!

RunningOutOfIdeas · 19/04/2013 21:15

DD2 is not doing so well. She started vomiting even after small sips of water. I took her to the gp and am now trying to get her to drink Dioralyte. She hasn't been sick for 4 hours now but she has only drunk 150ml.

I am going to have her sleeping on my bed tonight so I can keep an eye on her.

Thechick · 19/04/2013 21:28

Cava I believe there's no going back from a sippy cup too but H hasn't got the hang of any of them. We have 3. An avent one that has a soft rubber 'spout' an oxo one and a cheep own brand from boots which is free flow. The avent one H is kind of starting to get the hang of sucking. He was sucking it using his tongue like bf to start but is a bit better now. The oxo one is really had to get anything out and the boots one the water comes too quickly some times so I don't let him hold it himself.
Running that's a good start. I'm sure she'll be bouncing around in no time.
I have fallen off the ww watchers wagen big time!! Today is my last day of eating bad food and I'm back on it tomorrow!!

Cavatina · 20/04/2013 04:40

haha celebrate who am I kidding. BabyCava clebrated her half year by partying from 1.30 still awake now. She is getting more nocturnal [sigh] I fed, sang, dummy, mobile, she wasnt having any of it. Now in bed with my, papa in spare roon as he is off again tomorrow, feel quite sick but am sure is just tiredness. Hope she turns out a genius or I shall be very cross!!

woundbobbin · 20/04/2013 06:31

Morning all - have just come in to feed dd and realised she has been asleep since midnight that's 6 yes 6 hours! (Sorry cava - don't want to show off - but it's been almost 7 mths since I've had that much sleep)
Happy half birthday to baby cava -
Running - how was dd2's night hope you got some fluid into her and you both managed a rest.
Slightly- how was music class it's monkee music or jolly babies round here I've never been (because I spend all my money buying things in the middle of the night - jumperoo) but I've friends who really rate it and dd loves music time at the local playgroup.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoy the sunshine Grin

slightlyroundthebend · 20/04/2013 08:26

Morning lovelies pass coffee would you?

Tough night again last night hourly screams and very little sleep all round was hoping to feel a little toothypeg this morn but no. Breakfast refused more grumps his little mouth must be sore :'( praying he feels better tonight.

cava musical minis was nice, a bit like baby sensory but this is a different area so different people. I think ds was youngest there but all older kids were so well behaved. Ds managed ok but was plain to see he wasn't feeling well, I will go back next week though.

running how's dd today? Must be very difficult when they are really poorly, I struggle when ds has a cold!

So its food festival today, baker boys and Martin Platt from corrie are doing demonstrations so should be good for a laugh! Suns shining so let's hope ds enjoys it too.

Happy Saturday x

RunningOutOfIdeas · 20/04/2013 09:06

Morning all. DD2 was not sick overnight. I managed to get another 100ml of Dioralyte into at 11ish. The nappy I changed this morning was a little fat, unlike the one I changed last night which was dry - there was no wee since the morning. She has also had a little milk this morning. So I hope she continues to improve today.

I have enlisted help from friends today to take DD1 to her dance class and to play later. That is the bit I really struggle with - giving DD1 my time while also dealing with DD2. I burst into tears on the phone to DH last night because i don't feel able to juggle everything well enough.

Cavatina · 20/04/2013 10:16

passing Brew &Biscuit around
rinning you are juggling amazingly well! you organised dd1 to have a nice sociable morning dancing and playing I am sure she will enjoy, while looking after dd2, and she is improving anyway so no need to feel bad! We have to compartmentalise often to be able to survive the whole motherhood lark! Good news dd2 doing better they bounce back pretty quickly.
wound Envy for good 6h sleep, well done babyWound! there is hope for us all!
slightly extra Brew for you! musical minis sounds like fun, may be I will wait a little for la cava to be a bit older. Food festival sounds great have fun ( and extra cake).
chick respect for even trying to lose weight whilst breasfeeding, I am too tired to contemplate it, cake food only thing keeping me going. I have 5kg to lose to get to pre-preg weight, it will be a struggle I think..
I feel like I have been hit by a truck this morning, and even though the sun is shining outside dont thing will be able to enjoy the day, not looking forward for 10 days of 24h solo care as dp away, hope she stays healthy.
she is surrently in her bednest trying to eat her big toe, no sign of settling for a nap aaarrrgh
more coffee pls!
