Thanks for the welcome! Grin dd was born on the 1st oct so nearly 6 months. Huge sympathy re the hourly waking its so exhausting - everyone I meet seems to have a baby who slept 7-7 from 6 weeks - thought I was doing something wrong! Re the car seat query up the thread I overheard a women refusing to sell a forward facing car seat to a lady who's baby was under 6 months ( although saying that they are a bit nuts in Mothercare ) fingers crossed for more sleep everyone!

re car seats babyCava still in backward facing clip on, I thought up to a year but may depend on how big the baby is. Ours is up to 13kg I think and babyCava is 7.2kg so we staying put.

wound imho mums in RL are a bit economical with the truth about sleeping. Not sure why, fear of being judged incompetent by their friends? Competitive child rearing? no idea... same with co-sleeping (hate the terminology). Very few will admit it but a lot are doing it.

Hello all. Hope everyone is well. I am soooo tired today. I've had a headache which is usually a sign that I need more water and sleep. LO has been sleeping okay waking 2 or 3 times but I've been having troubles getting back to sleep. Boo

Wooly I'm very jealous of your little one self settling. I need my little one to do a bit of that. H uses the boob to fall asleep and I don't mind at all but when he goes to nursery (in September) he won't be able to do that.

Dupain I wouldn't be worried by the not rolling over. They are all so different. My little one rolls but can't sit up. And has no hand eye coordination. They'll all get there.

Cava baby yoga sounds fun. I haven't found a surestart near me that does it, it's only privately run places. But I think time tables change after Easter so hopefully ill find one near me that does it.

Sorry all about the frequent wakings. I'm starting to feel fortunate at H is only waking 2 or 3 times. Going to sleep now, will be back at some point.

Morning all I have awoken to a blizzard so it's pj day for us I think.
chick no yoga here either its a shame really I seem to find more and the good classes have waiting lists or the classes aren't there. Gap in the market if anyone is motivated (wish I was)
So baby slightly well and truely has cold, got up this morn and his little nose was crusted dry looked so sore I've washed and moisturised it :(
Does anyone have experience with baby eczema? I have it and think ds is getting it on his leg I've been using E45 but not working any ideas????

chick I've been mostly feeding to sleep too, I keep making half hearted attempts at a sort of gradual withdrawal sort of approach but also getting her to sleep in different ways occasionally like in pram or dh rocking her. I think mainly they just get there on their own and a lot at this age is luck with sleeping. Not convinced sleep training much good until a bit older? I basically have no idea what I am doing most of the time thou! Another 7pm till 6am night here thou.... yay! Grin

Happy Saturday all!

morning all snow here too fed up with weather soo boring and palavar to get out...
slightly sorry lo is unwell hope he recovers soon. no experience with eczema here, but I remember when reading up on baby acne the advice was to take baby to gp as ther are some prescription drugs depending on how severe it is.
wooly we also feed to sleep, so far she has never self settled to sleep for the night, and sleep varies. I am with you in that they will get there eventually, from what I read about sleep training if concidered no point before 6 months earliest.
no exciting plans for weekend here, dp working this morning so me contemplating wrapping up and getting babyCava in the ergo to the shop to get the newspaper, she is now shuffling backwards on her tummy getting a bit cross, hilarious

Hello all. Can I join you please? I was on one of the early ante-natal threads.

My DD2 was born on 5th Oct. DD1 will be 5 in April.

I am currently in Australia, staying with my mum, and mostly only reading when DD2 needs feeding at night. I came here with both DDs a week ago and will be here for 3 more weeks. DH is not with us, he is in the US working.

I have started weaning - using bought purees at the moment because I don't want to spend time here making batches of food and trying to cram them into mum's already full freezer. Also there seems to be a much bigger variety of purees in the supermarket here, compared to Sainsburys. Yesterday I also gave lo a piece of cucumber to suck on. She enjoyed it. So I will continue giving her little bits from my plate along with spoon feeding her.

RunningOutOfIdeas · 23/03/2013 18:32

Slightly I would go to gp about eczema. DD1 had it due to dairy intolerance. DD2 has some red patches on her neck due to loads of dribble and vomit - she has reflux. I am using a tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream to try clear up her neck. DD1 used to scratch until she bled so I am hoping to stop it getting that bad with DD2.

Happy sunday everyone and welcome running
Well what a difference a sleep in (thank you lovely hubby all is forgiven) and a girly catch up makes, feel like a new woman!
Baby slightly been very good and is loving his purees and finger foods, still sleeping like poop but he is full of cold his little nose looks so sore :(
wooly and cava we're another feed to sleep or rock mind he's really getting too big for that now, I agree it will just happen in time. If not you'll see me on the next series of bedtime live haha

Happy Sunday. & hello running. I was going to start weaning tomorrow but dd has a grim cold and I'm not sure if I should just wait till she's feeling better. My other worry is expressing I've never really managed to do it but baby porridge & baby rice says add your baby's 'normal' milk & some of the puree recipes say the same. I can't see how I'm going to express enough but something tells me I'm not supposed to use cows milk??

Cavatina I am sure you won't really want me to tell you that it has been 29C here today. Last night was 25C and really humid. Sorry for all of you suffering with snow.

DD2 has hip dysplasia. Her right hip was dislocated and she has been in a pavlik harness for 8 weeks. The heat has proved to be a problem. The harness goes over her shoulders and across her chest with cross-over bits on her back. She was covered in heat rash. Fortunately yesterday I found some thin cotton vests to put under the harness and I also bought a little sheepskin for her to sleep on. Her back is now much better.

I tried giving DD2 a quick splash in my sister's pool a couple of days ago. She was not impressed! She had not had a bath for 7 weeks because the harness had to be on 24 hours a day so I think the pool was a bit too much. Her hip is nearly ok now so the hospital said I could take the harness off for short periods here. A good thing with this heat and humidity.

No milk feeds have been dropped yet. I don't think enough food is going in for that yet. We don't have a really consistent routine and there is still often a feed required at 3 or 4 am. DD1 loved her food and was wolfing down much larger portions than DD2 does. I think it was night feeds then lunch time feeds that went first. She just started losing interest in the bottle.

Woundbobbin you can use cows milk in food from 6 months, just not as a drink. I use a mixture of water and fruit purée with baby rice. I think rice alone tastes of nothing and bought purees are often too runny so mixing the 2 together seems to work.

Hello :)

I have posted a few times but it's difficult to become integrated into an established group so now seems the right time to start posting properly :).

My boy/girl twins were born on the 5th at 37 weeks by planned section due to them both being breech. I also have a dd who is 6.

Thankfully, they are really good babies and even though they're twins, I'm finding things easier second time round. Life is very busy though!

March has been a good month, full of firsts. They both started sleeping through and have continued to do so, sleeping 7-6 every night. Ds rolled back to front last week and cut his first tooth yesterday :).

We've not started weaning yet but I'm stocking the freezer up with purees. I've done apple, carrot and pear so far and have bought some sweet potato today too. I'm going to do as much blw as I can when they can sit up. They don't put things in thir mouth yet either. How about the other babies?

woundbobbin you can use cows milk in cooking from 6 months, as Running said.

wound yes you can use cows milk after 6months, I have used HipOrganic formula to mix the rice, but I have only given her babyrice twice, and yesterday I noticed some rush ob her cheek, looks like a bit of baby actpne, very mild, burpt wonder whether it is a reaction to the formula, hm. I never managed t express either and it is such faff I have not felt I need to make the effort. probably best to wait for dd to get better before starting
running sorry to hear about the hip dysplasia, poor thing, but sounds like all is getting sorted, it must have been hard work. We also had a hip scan as babyCava was bridge and our consultant wanted to make sure she is ok, but he also said is totally treatable. and yes am Envy about the weather and oooh dip in the pool sounds lovely, enjoy!
slightly bravo for hubby taking over!
hi celestia twins wowww well done! and for sleeping too! you can sure do with some sleep! nice to see you here, IKWYM by trying to integrate previously.
I am off to make some pair puree, seems it is babyCava's favourite, and the kitchen smells soo nice when I cook it!

Hello and welcome celestia and running!

We started weaning today - some banana mashed up with a bit of formula. DH and I were very excited, and dd loved it, she couldn't get enough! Interesting poo resulted - it had black bits in...I live such a glamorous life these days!
