Hi Calebsmum

I am new to this thread and don't think I have spoken to you before. Caleb is a little beauty. My DD is learning a few words at the moment and it is great fun - got to remember not to swear now though!

I remember the 2 week wait very well - good luck!

Hi everyone. We are back from our holiday in Romania. We went to the seaside and stayed at home with my parents. My sister's daughters were there too (aged 3 and 7), so Dominic and Sylvia had lots of company. It was mayhem and we'll be trying now to get them back to earlier bedtimes.

Sylvia says a few words and being with her cousins has really helped. She's put on some weight (she weighs almost 10 kg now). Dominic starts year 2 tomorrow. I'm dying my hair deep red tonight, i must be off the computer soon or else it will become much too red.

I need to catch up with everyone. I hope you're all well and had a nice summer.

JoPG · 06/09/2006 12:17

Cristina - Glad you had a good holiday sounds lovely.

Pidge - Is Cleo starting school this week? Good luck if she is.

Pidge · 06/09/2006 12:40

Cristina - holiday sounds fab.

Hi Calebsmum - fingers crossed for number 2. I got so impatient waiting for that magic blue line!

JoPG - how sweet of you to think of Cleo. Actually she doesn't start till January, because we have a split intake in our area and she's a July birthday. Quite glad that I've got another term of carefree, do as you please days with my little girl, before she has to go all grown up!

Iris is hysterical at the moment. Chatting like a champion. Dp says soon he won't be able to get a word in edgeways, as Cleo rather has the gift of the gab as well. Iris loves to shout "and mes" whenever she thinks she might miss out on something that Cleo is getting, and gives us a permanant commentary on "toast gone", "nana gone", "loooook, mama, 'sgone" etc. Until you say "Yes Iris", at which point she'll hassle someone else "looooook, danoo, toast gone" etc! She's started calling dp "danoo" (=Daniel) rather than "dadden" which is rather entertaining. Particularly when she stands at the bottom of the stairs shouting "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanoo" to get his attention.

She still doesn't have a word for "Cleo" though, which surprises me.

jambot · 06/09/2006 13:10

Welcome back to Calebsmum. Caleb has grown into a lovely little boy.
Lauren has Impetigo! Started off as a very red chin and progressed into big blisters on her chin and cheeks. Took her to the doctor today and she says it's a Streptococcus(sp?) infection and she has to have antibiotics to stop it spreading. It's apparently very contagious so good job I decided not to take her to her baby group this morning. She's ok in herself though - just looks terrible.
Welcome back Christina - is this red hair a new look for you? Very brave of you!
Started with a personal trainer today. Am going 5 times a week until the end of the year in an attempt to get into some sort of shape before trying to fall pregnant next year. DH and I are on a strict diet, which isn't going too badly.

BonyM · 06/09/2006 22:04

Hi everyone, we got back from hols last Saturday but have only just had a chance to catch up with this thread!

Had a lovely time - gorgeous villa and weather was perfect. Grace loved the pool, and the day after we got back, she went to the patio doors and said "swim" - bless her little heart, had to try to explain to her that we don't actually have a pool in our back garden!

I think she is competing with Iris for the biggest chatterbox on this thread - there is no stopping her at the moment. I reckoned she must have about 50 words, so Phoebe decided to write them all down a couple of weeks ago and managed to count 116! I'm not entirely convinced that every single one was kosher though . Phoebe gets her to repeat words all the time so I'm sure she added a few which Grace doesn't actually use regularly! She has recently started saying her own name, and does a very sweet thing - she hides and then starts calling "Gace, Gace!" in imitation of us .

Good to hear from you again Calebsmum - love the photo. Caleb is turning into a very handsome boy! Hope you get the positive result you're waiting for - don't forget to let us know!

Sorry to hear about Lauren's impetigo jambot, but the antibiotics should clear it pretty quickly.

Off now to add a couple of new pictures to the photobucket. Great to see new ones of Lauren and Iris - they're a good looking lot these March babes!

popsycal · 06/09/2006 22:08

he is nearly sleeping through....

jambot · 07/09/2006 06:59

Well done once again Popsy. Keeping fingers crossed.
All the little ones seem to be talking up a storm - except Lauren! She doesn't really say anything on a regular basis, except 'dere' and 'dat'. She gets by with a combination of various grunts and pointing. Keep on telling her I'm not going to respond to her 'monkey noises' and want words, but don't really think that's fair to her. She's obviously not quite ready to talk and this is her way of communicating.
Can hardly walk this morning - so stiff from my first proper exercise yesterday. Haven't really done anything except take Lauren for walks since I fell pregnant with her. Have to go back again today, but don't know how I'll manage. Can hardly sit down let alone do more exercises! Have a cute guy for a trainer though, so that should motivate me!!
Glad you had a great holiday Bony - where did you go again? Can't quite remember. We do have a pool, which is actually more of a pain than it's worth. Has to be trussed up with nets and fences as I'm paranoid about drowning. Often have terrible dreams about Lauren drowning. Am booking her in for swimming lessons next month.

Pidge · 07/09/2006 12:54

Oooooh popsy ... very exciting. Well done Harry, and well done you.

Jambot - in my experience kids all have their different skills, my two just seem to excel in early talking! Another friend's daughter barely said anything till she was 2.5 and now there's no stopping her. It was almost like she was thinking - I'm going to just wait until I can do this talking thing properly!

Dp and I had been wondering if Iris was managing 3 words together occasionally, and almost as though she had been eavesdropping on us, last night she said very clearly "Dits gum downair" (="biscuit gone downthere") when she dropped it on the floor and wanted us to retrieve it for her. I swear she had a look of triumph on her face afterwards, as if to say "Of course I can do it"!

But the best thing yesterday is that for the first time in ages (after being messed up being on holiday) ... she put herself to sleep. As usual she screamed "mama gone, mama etc" when I left the room, but after only 30 seconds she stopped and obviously just lay down and went to sleep. What a relief.

Pidge · 07/09/2006 12:59

PS jambot - meant to say "well done" on the exercise! It's a bit of a shock to the system at first isn't it? But you'll be so invigorated and full of beans once you get into the swing. The personal trainer sounds fantastic - I could do with one of those.

jambot · 07/09/2006 18:27

Luckily Personal Trainers come a bit more cheaply here than they do in the UK, although they have had to be both my birthday and Christmas present. I have Miles Mon, Wed, Friday and Tim Tues and Thurs. They are both about 25 and pretty cute, so can't complain there, although they make me feel pretty old. Also following a healthy eating plan so hopefully some of this weight will come off. I'm tired of big boobs!! Not used to them and can't stand them, although everyone says I should make the most of having a cleavage for a change!
Lauren's Impetigo is responding well to the antibiotics and is clearing nicely.
Isn't Iris clever Pidge? She's going to be talking up a storm in no time.
Still no idea what happened to Busy? Seems to be a bit of mystery what happened to her. She was such a regular, find it hard to believe that she just decided to stop posting.

JoPG · 07/09/2006 21:30

Jambot - Sorry to hear about Lauren's impetigo. Ethan had it once, and it can be a pretty unsightly, but it does clear up pretty well with the antibiotics.

BonyM - Glad to hear you had a good summer holiday. Getting back into the swing of things with the school run now? I am looking forward to half term already! - I hate having to be organised in the morning.
I was dreading putting Freya in the buggy the first morning, she has barely been in it during the hols as we let her walk everywhere, but fortunately she was good as gold. Perhaps she realised Mummy was clock watching and couldn't be dealing with sauntering along the road at the pace of an 18 month old!

Freya had her MMR yesterday and she was a little star! Not a single tear, very brave. Have been meaning to get it done for a while and am glad it's now been done.

Freya is not much of a talker either. She can sure get her point across - usually with a big tantrum when she can't get her own way! I'm sure it will come soon - have trouble getting a word in edgeways with Ethan around anyway, so probably just as well she's a bit slow off the mark!

Pidge · 12/09/2006 13:09

Well done Freya on her bravery! I was dreading the MMR, but similarly Iris barely flinched.

Jambot - how's Lauren doing?
And how's your new fitness regime?

I'm actually finding after a year of running that my trousers are beginning to fall down. Who'd have dreamt it?!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 12/09/2006 14:43

Well done Pidge. I rejoined WW and lost 4.5 pounds this first week. Very pleased.

Sylvia has had high temperature for a few days now. During the day she's fine but starts having a fever in the evening and all through the night. Nothing else, not even a sneeze. I forgot to mention that in Romania she saw a paediatrician who thinks she has signs of having had rickets based on her forehead and shape of the rib cage. She'd managed to put some weight on while on holiday but now it's all come off again since she's been poorly. I'm getting a bit stressed by this.

I hope Lauren is fine by now, impetigo is very contagious.

jambot · 12/09/2006 14:51

Lauren's Impetigo is nearly gone now. Just a bit of redness on her chin.
Wonder what the problem is with Sylvia Christina? Hope it's nothing too serious.
Fitness regime going strong. After being so stiff last week that I could hardly sit on the loo, I seem to be fine this week. Did a boxing workout today which was hard but really enjoyable. Diet has been going well, although I must admit I ate some biscuits today from a packet I had supposedly bought for Lauren!! First slip up in a week, so not too bad. Am having my first weigh-in next Tuesday, so hope something has happened, what with the diet and all the exercise.
I have Book Club tonight, which always depresses me as I'm the only chubby one amongst a bunch of very fit skinny types! Hopefully that will change soon.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 12/09/2006 14:55

Enjoy Book Club - what are you reading? I'm sure you'll catch up with the rest of the skinnies soon. I started at 75.5 kg and I'm down to 73.4 now (11 st 8), at 1.70m. I'd like to get to about 67 kg and then see how I look. Hopefully by Christmas or sooner.

Dominic's funding for a cochlear implant has come through and he had his first appointment yesterday. We've moved hospitals as the other one was dragging their feet and the new hopital hasn't got a waiting list yet. So I hope it will happen soon-ish.

We've booked our winter holidays - Iceland! Only 5 hours of daylight but should be interesting. When we went to Vienna last January we only had 5 hours of daylight anyway as we were always late out of the flat, so I reckon we'll be fine in Iceland too.

misdee · 12/09/2006 23:51

she is sleeping better, but has been on the boob mroe than once a day this last week. she isnt get her long lie ins now the older two are back at school and nursery.

ukrainianmum · 15/09/2006 13:18

Hello ladies and babies!!!

It has been a while since i popped in.With Ksenia spending the whole day in the nursery i have even less time when she was home.I wonder why is that? Even now i am mumsnetting and cooking. If i would be cleaning, ironing and learning French at the same moment i could be a Julius Ceasar.

Ksenia is doing just fine.I have been notecing that she has really strong character.if she wants something she will get it in no matter.Honestly i like it but now it has impact on me and i dont know what to do with her wishes. My dh said that i have to switch her attention on something else but i must say-it is impossible. And the other problem Ksenia does not want to share her toys with other kids. She will scream, yell, bite but she will not give it.On the other hand she does not touch other kids' toys without premission. But if she is permitted same story she will not give it away.Does this happen to any of your kids?Is it normal?
Ksenia is starting to talk but she was doing this since she was one.She will say a word if its meaning made a huge impression on her.If she is not intersted in the subject no matter what i do she will notsay it.At the same time she is trying to say difficult words like babushka-grandma.Normally kids say it like baba but Ksenia is tring to say right and it comes out like babuka.very very funny. And as well i love when she copies noises and sounds. All this comes with lovely face mimics. And it making me love her to tiny bits of her.I am feeling really bad but only now when Ksenia is growing up i understood that i cannot live without her.Was i a bad mum?

Leo-how is the pregrancy? Are you feeling good?I bet soon you can compete to any disco when the babies will start to move.It will be so groovy your dancing on its own belly

Jo-loved the story how Freya was a little brave star.Ksenia bit me
and the nurce at the and.

Jambot-i hop Lauren's impetigo is gone by now but what the hell is that

Well,ladies.have to go.Cooking is calling
I hope Busy is fine. She just disappeared

wishing you all to be in a good health, and see you soon

leogaela · 17/09/2006 09:43

Just dropping in quickly to say hello, I'm back! Had a great holiday, really relaxed ! I think its the first time since Niklas was born that i have felt really, really relaxed! OK, off to read all your posts and will catch up more later!

OP posts:
JoPG · 17/09/2006 20:44

Welcome back Leo, good to hear that you had a lovely relaxing time.
What is Tuscany like? We have been thinking about Italy for a holiday. Pizza, pasta and ice cream - who could ask for more?

Pidge · 18/09/2006 20:59

Hi Leo. Welcome back. Hows the bump?

Cleo has just started playing with Iris a bit these days, which is oh so cute. "Come on Iris, let's play house" she says, dragging her off by her hand, Iris padding behind, a willing, if somewhat baffled accomplice!

Am really enjoying this last term of having Cleo around before school starts, and wondering how I'm going to entertain Iris when I'm on my own!

leogaela · 19/09/2006 11:06

Andyj - If you give us your email address someone will send you the details of the photobucket where we put photos.
I have friday free for myself , I have to go and buy some new clothes for growing bellies, but then will make a real effor to start sorting out my photos and put some new ones up as well!

Great to catch up on everyone's news. Such a shame that Busy has just suddenly disappeared !

Jo, Tuscany was OK, historically its fascinating, we spend a couple of days in Siena, I've been to Florence and Pisa before. The beach was nice but I wouldn't rave about it like some people do. I wasn't that impressed with the beaches or the campsites, they have a feeling of being a little bit neglected. I think we will go again but try a different part of the coast. My sister knows the Italian coast quite well and says that Elba is great and the coast south of Naples is nicer. Saying that in September we still had fantastic weather, the sea was warm, the beach was great. I'm just spoilt living in such a clean, well cared for place.
We also spent a few days in Rome which was great.

Niklas absolutely loved the holiday, he was completely hyper the whole time. He loved the caravan - his little castle - and loved being outside all the time. He learnt lots of new words (English words ! I got a couple of picture books, we go through the pictures and I ask him to show me things, or tell me what something is. He is completely obsessed with keys at the moment!
Thankfully he was (almost) and angel on the long drives we had. I kept him entertained with books, toys, things to eat... I told him before we set out on a long drive that we would be in the car for a long time and he seemed to understand, we were very, very proud of him !

We just had my sister staying for the weekend with her 4 1/2 year old ds. Niklas and him absolutely loved each other, had a fantastic time. Both are completely hyperactive children. It was a lot of fun and very loud and I'm really looking forward to our family growing and seeing the children play together.

Jambot, consider Switzerland as a place to come and live as well. Somehow I have the feeling that its more child friendly than Italy, also very international and language isn't really a problem.

I'm feeling well at the moment, seem to be suffering from a permanent slight headache. My belly is growing nicely although I still haven't actually put on any weight at all yet ! Sometimes I think I can feel the babies moving, looking forward to being sure that I can, but Ukmum, I am also wondering how my belly will look with 4 legs and 4 arms dancing around inside it !
